Humairah When Mairo told me that I was been called for, I didn't expect to go downstairs to meet a very handsome young man. "Holy patatas!" I muttered when I set my eyes on him. He looked so perfect and I wouldn't mind staring at him every day. "Salam Alaykum." I said and sat down close to my mothers feet. I greeted his parents, unable to make eye contact with them. "How are you? My daughter inlaw come sit beside me." A woman said sweetly. She was fair and looked like she just turned 20years. Her appearance screamed rich and classy. "How can this woman be his mother." I thought. "MashaAllah she's very beautiful." She said grinning. "Uhm Humaira please take Ashad to the garden." Daddy ordered. I nodded and gestured for him to follow me. We walked side by side. Occasionally, I stole glances at him. 'Oh my nuggets on a fudge stick. He's so cute.' "Lets sit." He said and sat down on one of the garden chairs. I quickly sat down opposite him. He flashed me a smile. I found his smile ultra cute. "How are you?" He asked. "Fine." I smiled shyly fiddling with my fingers. "My name is Ashad." He said and I nodded. I wanted to tell him that I know his name but I decided against it. "Humaira right?" He asked and I nodded again. "You don't talk much do you?" "Huh? Nah I talk alot." I said giggling. "Oh I see." "Uhm so I know that you are here because of your parents. I'm sorry if you were forced into accepting me. My parents arranged this too I had no idea. So I can say we are both forced into this. I hope we can make it work." I said bluntly. It took a lot of courage before I could say that. "Wow you're so blunt. I like that." He said and I blushed. "So friends?" I asked and he flashed me his one in a zillion smile. "Best friends." He said. "So lets get to know each other." I said. "So tell me about yourself. Mind you since we are best friends now no secrets." He said and I giggled. "On one condition." I said. He raised an eyebrow. "What condition?" He asked. "You'll also tell me about yourself." I said and he nodded. "Deal." "Let the questions start flowing." We asked each other a lot of questions, mostly personal questions. I found out that he's a jovial person and he had a sense of humour. It seemed like we would get along very well cause I like people with sense of humor. He was funny, cracked jokes often. "Brother..." Abida shouted interrupting our question and answer session. "Abida please don't start." Ashad said glaring at her. "Well don't worry I won't say anything, just to want tell you that baba is calling you, sister you too." She grinned making me laugh. "Fine you can go, we'll be there in a jiffy." He said and she raised her eyebrows. Nonetheless, she left. "Let's go." "Uhm go ahead. I'll follow, I have to do something really quick." I said and he nodded. I watched his retreating figure and smiled. Maybe, just maybe this arrangement isn't a bad idea. **** I sat down thinking about how my meeting with Ashad went and it really went well. I didn't think it would go that well. Thinking about it made me felt so giddy and excited. I just couldn't believe that the date had been set. I would be getting married in two months. Why were my parents in a hurry to marry me off? The only thing I could do was to pray for it to turn out well. I was sorta the cautious type, so it wouldn't hurt to think about it in a positive way. I decided to call Faridah. I called her but she missed my call. Probably she was busy, but I knew she would call back later. Thinking about Faridah, I realized that our friendship wasn't how it used to be. She's become distance. At first I didn't understand her change of behavior, but know that she told be she got married in secret, I kinda understand her. She was stressed out and everything. But it hurt me that she didn't tell me about it from the beginning. I chose not to talk about it because I didn't want us to fight. The past few days, we tended to fight alot and she was always the cause. I had never judged her whenever she came to me with her problems, but whenever I did the same, she would judge me. Right from childhood till date, we argued and fought alot. But that did not in any way destroyed the bond we had as friends. In spite of everything, I still love her alot. She's and would always be my bestfriend. The more I get to know you Can't tell the feelings I feel Sometimes it doesn't feel so right It must be one of us, one of us Making two of us, two of us My ringtone jolted me out of my thoughts. It was Fareedah. Thinking about the devil and she called. "Babeeeee." She shouted into the phone immediately I answered her call. "Yoooo." I said smiling at her craziness. "I missed your call, I'm sorry I was busy that's why." She explained. "I thought as much. Guess what?" "What?" She shouted. I rolled my eyes even thou she couldn't see me. "I said guess." I said in a duhhhh tone. "Well you know I suck at guessing. So just cut the slack and tell me." "The date had been set. I'm getting married in two months." "Oh my goodness. I'm so excited babe. Lets start planning. What color of dress do you want? You are going to do alot of events right? Of course you have to." She said all in one breath. Well that was how we spent an hour talking and planning my wedding. Actually Faridah did most of the talking. I could only nod my head but when I remembered she wasn't there to see me, I answered her with a hmm or a yap. But Fareedah been her crazy self didn't seem to notice I wasn't really interested and she kept on blabbing. Sadly I love her so much. That implied that I'm stuck with her forever.
