14 – FIREPLACE ROMANCE DAMON Rebekka looked like a deer caught in the headlights as she looked up at my eyes, she was too mesmerized to speak. “Are you hurt?” I prompted. She blinked as her consciousness came back, “Damon?” “Yeah,” I gave her a sad smile. She gasped, “Damon! What the hell happened, who the hell were those people? What were they trying to do to me?” I took her hand, it was soft, clammy and shaky. I pulled her to her feet but I didn’t let go of her yet.
