CHAPTER 6 – Two Days With the Alpha

1035 Words
Meisha stood awkwardly near the doorway of the guest room, fingers tangled together as she tried to process everything Alejandro had just told her. The man himself stood only a few steps away—tall, broad-shouldered, his posture relaxed yet commanding, as if the entire world naturally shifted around his presence. “I don’t need long,” Alejandro said, his voice deep and steady. “Two days. Until my wound closes and the situation stabilizes.” Meisha swallowed. “Why… here, Sir? Why not the hospital? Or your villa?” “Because those are the first places my enemies will check,” he replied. “Here, no one knows I’m connected to you. This house is off their radar.” Meisha fell silent. He was right. No one would ever think the notorious Alejandro de la Vega would hide in a tiny, quiet home of a 21-year-old university student. Alejandro continued calmly, “I will pay you for the room. Consider it rent. You will be compensated for your inconvenience.” Meisha’s brows knit together. “But living with a man I barely know… it’s—” “You will have your full privacy,” he said, his tone firm but not unkind. “I won’t bother you.” Meisha looked down. Inside her head, the reminder flashed like a warning sign—tuition payment next semester. Her savings weren’t enough. Her salary would barely cover living costs. She didn’t want to agree… but reality cornered her. “Only two days?” she asked quietly. “Two,” Alejandro repeated. A thick silence settled between them. Finally, Meisha exhaled and nodded. “Fine… I agree.” Alejandro’s expression didn’t change, but something in his shoulders loosened—as if he had expected she would refuse. He called Damian inside. Damian entered swiftly. “Yes, sir?” “I’ll be staying here for two days,” Alejandro said. “Prepare everything I need, and transfer money to her account.” He nodded toward Meisha. “Give him your account number.” Meisha recited the digits. Damian typed with quick precision. Seconds later, Meisha’s phone dinged. A bank notification appeared. 15,000,000 IDR transferred. Meisha’s eyes widened. “S-Sir, this is too much! I can’t accept—” “That is the price of safety,” Alejandro cut in. “You will take it.” And without another word, he turned and walked into the guest room, leaving no room for argument. Damian followed him out but paused long enough to give Meisha a sympathetic, amused smile—like someone welcoming her into a storm she wasn’t ready for. ################### Later — A Call With Dimas Because it was a weekday without any classes, Meisha only needed to prepare for her evening shift. After showering and getting ready, she sat in the living room to call her groupmate, Dimas. “We'll meet tomorrow at nine, okay? Meisha said, the phone pressed to her ear. "I'll handle the theory part. You prepare the case examples." Alejandro, working on his tablet in the guest room, heard her voice echo faintly through the house. Without thinking, he stepped out. He leaned against the doorframe. “You’re leaving for work now?” Meisha nearly jumped. “Ah— yes, Sir. I’m already prepared.” Alejandro nodded once. “If anything happens, call Damian. And avoid going out alone late at night.” Meisha only nodded, unsure why a man like him worried about her—but she said nothing. ################# A Stop at Choi San’s Café Before heading to the resort, Meisha stopped by a cozy café where she used to work. The place smelled like roasted beans and warm pastries—always comforting. San was adjusting his apron and preparing to leave for one of his café branches when he spotted her. “Mei!” he called, walking toward her with a bright smile. “You came!” She smiled back. “Yeah. One iced americano, please.” “Of course. I’ll make it right away.” He moved with practiced ease, though his eyes flicked toward her more times than necessary. When he handed her the drink, he hesitated—cheeks slightly pink. “Mei… are you free Tuesday night?” Meisha blinked. “Tuesday? I think so. Why?” “We haven’t hung out in a while. Not a date,” he added quickly. “Just friends.” Meisha let out a small laugh. “Alright. I’ll go.” San’s face lit up. ############### Dinner Groceries & Ice Cream After her shift, Meisha stopped by the mini–market to buy vegetables, bread, snacks, and—of course—her beloved ice cream. She also picked up a few things thinking Alejandro might not be used to Indonesian meals. Arms full of plastic bags, she pushed open the door of her house— —and froze. Alejandro stood in the living room. Casual clothes.Shorts.A simple grey tee.Tablet in hand.Looking dangerously good without even trying. Meisha awkwardly held up an ice cream. “This is… for you, Sir.” Alejandro looked at the ice cream briefly—then instead of taking it, he stepped forward and took all her bags from her hands like it was nothing. Meisha blinked hard. “S-Sir, I can carry that—” “I didn’t ask,” Alejandro replied, already walking to the kitchen. Meisha just stared, baffled. Why did even the simplest thing he did make her heart act stupid? ################## Morning — The Accident The next morning, Meisha woke for dawn prayers. After finishing, she entered the kitchen to prepare breakfast. She was slicing vegetables when the bathroom door opened. Alejandro stepped out. Shirtless. Only a towel around his neck. Six-pack abs defined sharply. Broad chest slightly damp. Meisha froze. Her fingers went numb. Then— CLANG! The knife slipped from her hand and hit the floor. Alejandro turned. “What happened?” Meisha’s face burned. “N-nothing… the knife just… slipped.” He watched her a moment—eyes unreadable—before giving a slight tilt of his head, the closest thing to a smirk he ever showed. “After breakfast… we need to talk.” And that was how the morning began.
