When the ice melts

Chapter 13

Mia's P.O.V.

It has been almost half an hour since we start watching Gala.

"Why do they always have to be late!?" Anna asked while sighing.

I have to admit, it was pretty boring, looking at all these snobbish people coming in while faking smiles.

"You know they always need to be late" Elena replied while rolling her eyes.

Tom wrapped his arms around my shoulders and I put my head on his chest. "It's true, they were late past few years," he said and kissed the top of my head. Oh god how much I love this boy. He always was there for me, since day one. But something's changing and I don't even know what...

At that moment we saw the Mett family going out of the car.

"Finally!" Emili said and got up from the couch.

Paparazzi were literally crazy right now. They took some pictures together and then they asked Sam alone.

"Sam look beautiful tonight!" Jon said while laying here on the couch with his hands behind his head.

"And she still hates paparazzi" I pointed out which made them all laugh.

"Yeah... literally," Elena said between laughs.

The live camera then followed the Mett family walking inside a room full of people. They walked around a little before sitting at their table.

It passed 10 minutes and nothing special happen. Just people chatting and guy who was host for tonight talking like crazy for people who watch this on TV.

"This slowly becoming boring," I said and closed my eyes, preparing to fall asleep on Tom's chest while listening to his heartbeat.

At that moment this host guy said "Finally, Nikolić family has arrived. Let's go outside and wait for them" my eyes shot open and I looked at Elena who was biting her lower lip to prevent herself from laughing. It was so funny, I wanted to laugh as well, but I needed to keep my poker face.

"Oh my god, I'm so excited!" Emili practically yelled.

"Same, Em, same," I said mimicking her voice which made Elena finally let her laugh.

Everyone looked at her confused but she just shook her head and cleared her throat before looking at me with that 'I'm going to kill you' look. I just smiled at her and winked.

The camera went outside and Nikola and Zoe were walking down red carpet. "Oh my gosh! Look at them!" Anna said while looking at them in awe.

We all actually looked at them like that, even me. I know them since I was little and I always respected them. They helped me and my family a lot of times. We were together a lot. We always were like one big family! They are best friends of my parents, and they all were happy when they saw how good Dušica and I get along. My parents always said she is a good influence on me, but she said it is vice versa.

I felt so bad when I wasn't there for her when that tragedy happened to them. She was heartbroken, just like her parents. They still didn't recover from that but they try. Dušica found her peace working in charity of their company, and I am happy she finally is the same as before... Well, she is trying.

"They are gorgeous!" Emili's voice broke my thoughts.

"Can you imagine how good looking is their child if they look like this." Added Anna and we all agreed.

"This woman looks familiar," said Jon while looking at Zoe intently.

Elena looked at me and laughed, it was hard for me to hold my laughter as well. We both laughed hysterically and they all looked at us confused.

"What is wrong with you two?" Tom asked while pulling away from me so he can look at me better.

"Yeah, you have been acting weird whole day!" Emili added while looking at Elena and me back and forth.

"Just wait," said El when she calmed down a little. Her face was reddish of all laughter.

"Yeah, hon, wait and you'll see," I said to Tom and kissed his cheek.

"I'm becoming worried," said Anna not taking her eyes off of me, like she trying to figure something out. I moved under her stare because it made me uncomfortable.

"Stop staring at me like that!" I said to her which made her smirk and wink before turning her head towards the television.

We chatted some more and at that moment host for tonight walked in little stage that was placed in front of tables where people were sitting.

"Good evening, ladies and gentleman I hope you all are enjoying yourselves." He started "You know how all this work, but this Gala is special. Before we all greet and finally meet the heir of Adams and Nikolić Corporation, I want to thank you all for coming here tonight. I don't know for you, but I am really excited to finally meet him or her." He finished and walked down.

Now, it was the moment we all have been waiting for all this time. I watched Anna holding her hands like she was praying, near her lips. Emili was almost standing on the table which made me want to laugh so bad! Jon wasn't laying anymore, he was sitting straight while watching at the TV. Tom let go of me and sat on the edge of the couch. I sat next to Elena who was sitting on the floor in front of the TV, smiling widely. I shook my head and looked up.

"It's a girl!" Anna screamed when we could only see low part of the dress.

And then my girl came in like she owns the place. Elena and I turned around to see their face and I swear they were priceless! Their mouth wide open and eyes almost jump out of its place!

"Holy..." Anna practically yelled but didn't get to finish when Elena and I burst out laughing.

I high five her and we both were laying on the floor laughing hysterically while holding our stomach.

"Oh my god, you knew it this whole time!" Jon said while watching us. We just nodded and kept laughing.

"Y-Your facial e-expressiond were s-so f-funny!" I said between laughs while trying to catch my breath.

"You have to see your faces!" Elena said and laughed again.

"You f*****g knew whole this time and you didn't think about telling us!?" Emili freaked out.

"And I kissed her. Forcefully! She will destroy me now! Not only me but my family as well! Holy s**t!" Jon was panicking.

I looked at Elena and we both stopped laughing.

"Guys she is still the same person you met two days ago! And she won't destroy you or any of you! Calm your s**t down and let's listen to her speech!" I said and turned around, my back facing them.

They all shut up when Dušica started her speech.

"She has 3 f*****g degrees!?" Anna asked shocked and I just nodded.

"And she speaks 10 languages!? Are you sure she is 17, babe?" Asked Tom which made Elena and me giggle.

"I'm pretty sure in this hun," I said simply.

After Dušica's really long speech they all were speechless. I looked at them but they were way too shocked to talk. Elena looked at me and I just shrugged and put my head on her lap while she played with my hair.

"How rich is she for God's sake!?" Asked Jon.

"Richest person alive," I said. "Even she doesn't exactly know how much"

"Wow" Emili breathed out.

"Look!" Anna said, more like yelled, while pointing at the TV, which made us all turned around "Mett, Adams, and Nikolić at the same table!"

"Indeed," I said.

At that moment the camera was filming Dušica and some man talking. He was literally yelling at her, and she kept her calm.

"What is going on?" asked Anna clearly confused.

"You are just watching her in action," I said with a big smile plastered on my face, feeling proud of my girl.

"What do you mean!?" Tom was on the verge and I could only laugh at them.

"Just watch"

After a little time, they both shook hands and the man walked away. She smiled victoriously and turned around then hugged Sam.

"Wow, did she just hugged Sam!?" We all asked at the same time.

"And did Sam just hugged her back!?" Emili asked shocked.

"Seriously!?" We all were way too shocked to say anything.

Thing is, Sam isn't a touchy person, at all. I don't think she let anyone hug her except El.

"It looks like you have competition El," I said after we all calm a little.

"Oh please," she rolled her eyes.

"No, seriously. Sam never looked this... " Anna started talking but stopped while looking for the right word and we all said in unison "Happy!". Which made her nod.

"Exactly," she said.

After a little while, girls left Gala together. Paparazzi outside went wild! They were so cute together!

Why am I even thinking like this!? Sam looked at her lovingly... It is weird, really. For a second I thought she likes Dušica, but that's impossible, right?

Sam is not gay! I think... I mean she has never dated anyone. But even if she is, my best friend is not, right? Right!?

Oh god, I probably just overreacting. I hope so...
