“Well it's true that I'm the only one who had survived the longest, but I was only kidding about the ghost stuff,” she said and I gave a sigh of relief.
“I'm glad, so how have you survived? Weren't you terrified about the fact that people died the moment they were brought in or something?” I asked and she shook her head.
“Did you know what this cell was called in its creation?”
“No,” I shook my head.
“Well, it was called the punishment for the saints,” she explained but my frown deepened.
So apparently, the jail was built with magical powers and was used instead of death rows and those who weren't guilty were brought out alive while the guilty ones died in the cell.
