Chapter 8: I’m sorry

Haylee

I sat outside waiting for my ride. I didn’t really wanna face Ian tonight, by the sounds of him when we was yelling at each other, he’s probably over this whatever this was between us. To be honest, it might be a good thing. We’re gonna be going to two different schools in the fall, and he seems to be jealous guy when he is in a relationship, it probably not a good idea to deal with that while being in two different states. I didn’t want to deal with him but I needed to be there for my bestfriend.

Just then a car pulled up on the curb. I ran over, and seen it was Elizabeth’s car. I got in, “Thank you for coming to get me. I didn’t know who else to call. I wanted to go see Addie, so that’s why I thought of you.” I said.

“Calm down, Haylee. It’s ok. I’m glad your called me. You ready?” She asked.

“Yes. Is Addie ok?” I asked.

“No she been crying since she got home, I wouldn’t be surprised if she was sleeping when got there..” she said to me.

“This was supposed to be a fun night but then turned into h***..”

“It will be ok.” She said to me.

We finally arrived at her house, as soon as the car stop, I ran in the house, and ran up to Addies room. I knocked on the door,

“Who is it?” She asked.

“It’s me Addie..” I said back.

I heard the door unlock the door after a few secs and it opened. She let me in.

“Are you ok??” I asked her.

“No I am not with everything that happened with Avery, then with you then I got into a fight with Ian on the way home, I’m just exhausted. Are you mad at me?” She asked.

“I am sorry, and mad at you for what? I thought you were mad at me?” I said back.

“Because I left.. and because of Ian..and why would I be mad at you?”

“I am not mad at you because you left. It’s okay, and Ian..yes I am mad at your stupid brother but that doesn’t mean I am gonna be mad at you. Well for one I made you tell Ian about everything, and two cause I stayed.” I said.

“We’re a mess, I not mad either.”

She laughed then we hugged each other.

“Hmm, I have to get my stuff of out Ian’s room, I hope he’s asleep. I’ll be right back..” I said.

“Good luck..”

I opened Addies door and walked out into the hall, I tipped toed to Ian’s bed room. I quietly open the door. I knew one thing I was scared how he was gonna reacted if he wasn’t sleeping. When I opened it, I saw him passed out. Thank god. I started tiptoed across the room, and went to grab my stuff when I heard..

“What you doing? Don’t you know how to knock?” He said to me.

“Uh, I needed my stuff..I didn’t wanna wake you if you were sleeping. I’m gonna go now..”

“Still should of knocked..”

“Why? Incase you had a girl in here..”

“Why are you always throwing that in my face?? Huh?” He said as he sat up.

“It’s because what you do best, Ian.”

“You know what, f*** you Haylee, I was supposed to try at this, and I was but you never trusted me??” He said getting out of his bed all mad.

“Trust huh? You wouldn’t leave me at my party because you didn’t trust me.” I said yelling softly.

“I DONT TRUST THOSE STUPID GUYS YOU HANG OUT WITH HAYLES!!!!”

“You know what, don’t worry about it..this wasn’t meant to be.. I need to go.” I said as I walked out. I heard him slam his door.

I walked back into Addies room,

“That didn’t sound to good.” She said to me.

“I want to go home..” I said tearing up.

I called my sister because I knew she was awake at 1 am.

“Hello?” She said.

“Can you wake up mom and ask her to come get me at Addisons please, it’s important.” I said tearing up.

“Yeah hold on..”

I wait for like 7 minutes,

“She’s getting up now, and coming.”

“Thanks Erica. I said to her.

I hung the phone up.

Addie came over and hugged me.

“I am sorry, I am leaving..” I said to her.

“It’s ok, I understand why!!”

After sitting in silence for like 20 minutes, my mom texted me said she was here.

“I’ll see you on Monday” I said.

I walk out of her outta her room, and almost bumped into Ian in the hallway. I just kept walking to the stairs..

“Haylee..” he said

“No..Just leave me alone..” I said as I walked down the stairs and out of their house.

Ian:

It’s been a couple of days since the weekend, I haven’t talk to Haylee or even Addie for that matter. Sunday morning when I got up I just came straight back to school before Addie had even woken up. I am not gonna lie I miss Haylee, I got used to talking to her every day and night, even if we didn’t talk much during the day, we would be texting in the morning and before she went to bed spend a couple hours on the phone. I miss her voice, her laugh, her touch everything. I am about to head to my last class. I have three exams today, it wasn’t supposed to be 2 but they cancelled one of my classes Friday, and sent us an email saying we were doing to today.

I decided to pull my phone out and text Haylee..

Ian: hey..

I didn’t wanna say much because I wanted her to reply. I realize I was early to class so I stopped at a coffee cart and sat at bench..staring at my phone. Looking at pictures of Haylee that was in my phone.

That’s when a text came through.

Haylee: hi..

I was so happy she replied..

Ian: how’s your day?

Haylee: alright, I’m in math right now, I just hate this teacher.

Ian: I am sorry. Just think few more weeks and your free.

Haylee: wish it was sooner, like you arent you done today?

Ian: yes I got my stuff all packed, I am just about to take my last final..I miss you Haylee..

Least she was small talking with me, I don’t know if she’s gonna reply after I added, I miss you Haylee to the text. I didn’t get a response back. I need to head and take this last final.

I finished it, to be honest I don’t know how I manage to do these exams, I am not a good study kind of person. I looked at my phone and I saw I had a text from Haylee. I was nervous to open it.

Haylee: I really miss you too..but I can’t do it anymore. It’s best we just stay away from each other.

Ian: I don’t wanna stay away from you, I am sorry Haylee please believe me.

Haylee: I want to but I can’t.

I decided to call her since she’s probably outta school by now..hoping she answers.

She sent me to voicemail. I tried again, sent to voice mail again.

Haylee: stop calling me, I don’t wanna talk to you right now.

Ian: I’ll be on my way home soon, can we go out for dinner and talk please Haylee. I will pay.

She didn’t reply at first. I went back to dorm and was getting everything loaded in my car. My parents drove out here to help me. That’s when I heard a ding come from my phone.

Haylee: I am going out to eat with my parents tonight, but how about Desert? I’ll text ya when and where to meet me later.

Ian: ok thank you ..

If she’s willing to talk maybe I can fix it.

I had a lot to think about on my 2 hour drive home. I really don’t even know what I am going to say to Haylee yet, I am hoping she least willing to be friends. Even tho I want more. I am really addicted to this girl, and I would hate to watch her be with someone else.

We finally made it home, when I walked into the house, I saw Addie sitting on the couch.

“Hey shorty, still mad at me?” I said to her.

“Havent determine it yet!!” She replied.

“Well I am sorry for how I treated you.”

“You more like need to apologize to Haylee. She deserves it more..” she said to me.

“Plan on it tonight..”

“What do you mean?”

“She agreed to meet up with me later..” I said.

“You better not do anything stupid loser..”

“I am not, I miss her Addie..”

“Don’t tell her I told you this, but the last two days she’s been wanting to text you, she would pull up your name, text something then delete the message. She misses you too, you just need to fix it and not hurt her again.” She said to me.

I don’t how I am gonna do this but I need to figure it out.

It’s about 6:32 pm, I am playing the game when my phone beeped, I pull it out and look at it,

Haylee: come pick me up at Joe’s diner in about 15 minutes..

Ian: on my way.

I went up stairs to grab my keys and I ran down the stairs, about to walk out the door..

“Good luck..” Addie says to me.

I get in my car and take off, it takes about 10 minutes to get to where she’s at, I decided to stop and pick up her favorite milkshake from this ice cream place, raspberry cheese cake milkshake.

I got back in my car and drove to the dinner.

I saw her walking out as I pulled up, she got into the car.

“I got you your favorite.” I said to her.

“Yum thank you..” she replied I went to park in a parking lot so we could talk.

“Haylee..I miss you, I miss talking to you everyday. It’s been a long 2 1/2 days not speaking to you. I am seriously sorry how everything went down, I was mostly pissed at Avery for what he did to my sister, I took my anger out on you and Addie. I will admit I did get jealous when I saw that guy put his hands on you then when he said all those things about you and Addie, I couldn’t control myself. I know you take care of yourself, and I’m sorry for ruining your party..”

“I miss talking to you too. You know part of me, felt like that you were gonna get bored and just start sleeping around again because I wanted to wait til it was special. I wasn’t even meaning we had to wait forever, we could of done it the next day for it to be special. When you were trying to tell me to leave, it pi**** me off because it was my party, it’s my senior year. You had me all confused to, you told me you didn’t want to be in a relationship with me yet but , you were telling everyone I was your girlfriend..then the way you acted when I went to get my stuff outta your room, it hurt me, Ian!”

“I know I am sorry. Please forgive me.”

“I can forgive you, but I can only be your friend, that’s it. Nothing more then friends.” She said to me.

“It’s gonna be hard not to kiss you but I can do friends..” I replied. I was kind of upset, she just wanted to be friends but I will take whatever I can get.

“So you want me to take you home or you wanna hang out?” I asked her.

“Let’s hang out. Let’s just go to your house.” She said to me.

I drove off, we headed off to my house. When we arrived, we got outta the car and headed in.

“Hey guys! So you guys made up?” Addies said to us.

“Sorta, we’re just friends, that it.” Haylee replied.

“Yay, I was just about to pick out a movie you guys wanna join?” She asked us.”

“Yeah what are we watching?” I asked as I sat on the couch. Haylee sat next to me.

“A horror movie, of course.” Addie replied.

She sat down next Haylee. She turned it on from the remote, she has chosen Insidious.

As we were watching it, Haylee was looking like she cold, and she started snuggling up to me, I grabbed the throw blanket that was behind me, and put it over her. She smiled at me. We continued to watch the movie, Addie had moved to the chair so she could lean back in it, Haylee has moved her position to she was laying down, he head was on a pillow on my lap. When she jumped at part she had grabbed my leg, I didn’t mind but it wasn’t helping my Problem. Just then we seen a flash of lighting and the power went out which mad both girls scream. I felt Haylee turned and hugged my waist. My parents came down and told us there was a storm coming, when I got up and looked outside it, I told them too late, it’s already here. It was pouring down raining and high winds.

My mom went to go get some candles and flash lights, my dad turned to Haylee and said to her,

“Maybe you should call your parents. You might have to crash here tonight.”

She grabbed her phone and dialed. She walked into the other room.

My mom handed us flash flights, Haylee came back in.

“Why don’t we just go down to the basement.” My dad said. We all helped carry candles, and flash lights.

My mom had so many candles it didn’t even look like we even lost power. We were down in our game room, we had a couch, some chairs, a pool table and a poker table down here.

My parents decided they were just gonna go back up stairs, they took some candles with them.

“I wanna wanna play pool,” Addie said to Haylee.

“Cmon play with me.”

“I’m not really good at it.” She replied.

“I’ll help out,” I said to her.

She smiled at me then agreed to play.

Haylee wasn’t wrong, she wasn’t good at it, it made me giggle how cute she was trying to do.

I walked up behind her and leaned against her, helped her with my hands.

She ended up winning two rounds after losing the first time.

“We’ll look at that, Addie..you lost two rounds and that second round I barley helped her.” I said picking on her like she always picks on me when she wins.

“I think I am getting good at this..” Haylee said.

“Alright, Haylee, play against me then!!” I said looking at her with a smirk.

“Alright but let’s bet.” She said to me.

“You think your that good, that you wanna bet me?” What’s the bet, huh?” I said to her.

“If I win I get your bed, and you have to sleep on the couch tonight..” she said to me, determine she was gonna win.

I raised my eyebrow at her, “alright alright, but if I win, I get my bed tonight with you in it with me!!” I said to her smirking.

I don’t think she’s gonna agree to it, but it’s only fair because she trying to kick me out of my bed.

“DEAL!!” She said put her hand out for a shake.

We played, I let her break. She was doing good at first. Where getting close to the end that is when it happened, she went for her second to last ball and it hit the 8 ball and made it go the corner pocket.

“F***!” She said.

I laughed at her, “better luck next time.”

“Good like It looks like i will keeping you warm tonight.” I added.

“Never agreed to cuddle, just agreed to sleep in your bed.” She said at me with a smirk on her face.

“Ok we will see, I know how you are Haylee.” I said winking at her. We decided to call it a night. We blew the candles out, and grabbed our flash lights and headed up stairs, when we got on to the main floor, noticed our parents were there, they must of went to sleep. We headed up the stairs, Haylee had to get pjs to borrow from Addie, I went in my room and changed in to gym shorts. I decided to leave a shirt on because I didn’t want Haylee mad at me. I laid in my bed, looking at my phone. When I heard the door close,

“Remember no cuddling,” she said to me. “Why are you wearing a shirt, I though you said you can’t sleep with a shirt on?” She asked me.

“Yeah but your sleeping in here, so I put one on for respect for you.” I replied.

“It’s fine, I want you to be able to sleep. Take it off.” She said to me.

I reached over my shoulder to take my shirt off.

We both laid down, staring at the ceiling.

“Goodnight, Ian.”

“Goodnight Haylee.”

I turned so I wasn’t facing her and I fell to sleep.

I woke up to her running my arm, I looked over to her,

“What?” I asked.

“Ok it’s hard to sleep here, with you laying there with no shirt on. I just wanna cuddle with you..”

“I’m sorry, Haylee if you wanna go sleep in Addies room, it’s ok.it was just a bet.” I said to her.

“No that’s not what I’m saying, Ian. I want you to turn over and cuddle with me. Please.” She said to me.

I turned over and wrapped my arm around her, that’s when she leaned in and locked her lips with mine. I was confused at first but then I realized I didn’t want to stop her. I have missed those lips, i pulled her closer to me, and we kissed until we couldn’t breath anymore.

“I have missed those lips, Haylee.” I said to her.

“I’ve missed yours too.”
