Truce or a New WarSpring was once again in the air. The winter had been a hard one, especially for the ships lying in the anchorage off Gothenburg. Once again, there had been a rounding up of traders and merchants, and yet again, the last convoy departed late and straight into the teeth of a series of storms. There had been changes aboard the Kestrel as well. Midshipman Trewellyn had passed the lieutenant’s examination aboard the Victory and gone to join the brig Lively. In his place was a youth commended by the admiral, a David Kaye from Yorkshire. Johannes de Waal continued on the books as Captain’s Servant, though the admiral was in favour of his being given a warrant.
