The morning sun bathed the Alpine village in a soft, golden light as Roxxane stood outside her chalet, her backpack slung over her shoulder. She was dressed in layers of warm clothing, ready to embark on her mountain climbing adventure. "You want to be careful. These days we climb them ourselves, "And we'll get to the top before you," a voice from behind her said. She chuckled and turned to face the woman, who seemed to be around her age. She appeared cheerful and had a beautiful physique.

"Hi, I'm Cyrene Hunter," she introduced herself. "Roxxane, Roxxane Mauk." Roxxane replied. "I just came from the office to register. It's chaotic over there. Clyde Chan, who was supposed to lead our expedition, was sick, so he appointed someone to take his place. The women are swooning over him. Looks like he's not rejecting their attention."

"Oh God, not another one of them," she said, referring to the two men who were showing off.

"Them?"

"The guys who are all charm and full of arrogance."

As they entered the office, she witnessed what Cyrene meant. The women were fawning over a man. She didn't get a good look at him at first. But when he turned to face her, it felt like her blood froze.

"Impossible," she uttered. She couldn't be mistaken about the smile of the man who had entered her room days ago..

It was Alex Sander—the same mysterious man who had sought refuge in her chalet just days ago. She couldn't believe her eyes. What were the odds that the man she had helped the night before was now leading her on this mountain climbing expedition?
