Roxxanne left the penthouse, her heart burdened by sorrow and disappointment. The man she once shared an intimate bond with, who had taken her on an unforgettable mountain escapade, now remained a mystery. Murphy's memory loss has transformed him into someone unrecognizable, cold, and heartless man.
Heading to her son's kindergarten, she couldn't shake the feeling of loss. The answers she sought for years remained unanswered, and she couldn't help but wonder if the day would come that all her answers would be found.
A couple of minutes later, Roxxane could see him running down the hallway of their school towards his mother. As Roxxanne picked up her son Murphy, he noticed the sadness in her mother's eyes, "Mommy? what's wrong?" Murphy asked his mother with concern.
Roxxanne crouched down to his eye level and hugged him tightly. "It's nothing sweetheart. Mommy just had to take care of something important today." Murphy nodded, not fully understanding the complexity of the situation. "Okay mommy, I'm always here for you."
Roxxanne smiled through her sadness, grateful for the unconditional love and support of her young son. As they headed home, she couldn't help but think of what happened a while ago in the penthouse. Was that really Alex? What happened to him, why did he lose his memory of her, what really happened to him on that fateful day? Roxxanne's mind was consumed by questions. The encounter with the changed Alex (Murphy) left her feeling lost and bewildered.
THE next day, Roxxanne found herself outside Murphy's penthouse once again, her determination unwavering. She had to see him, to understand what happened to him and if there was still a chance for them. With each passing day, her need for answers had grown stronger.
As she approached the building's entrance, the same concierge who had met her on her previous visit recognized her. "Good Morning, madam. How may I assist you today?" he inquired politely.
Roxxanne didn't waste time. "I'm here to see Murphy Mertill, if you will." The concierge hesitated for a moment, glancing at his appointment book. "I'm sorry, madam, but Mr. Mertill has a meeting today, and he's not available at the moment."
Roxxanne's heart sank, but couldn't give up now. "I understand that, but It's crucial that I see him. Please, is there any way I can speak with his secretary or leave a message?" The concierge considered her request for a moment and then nodded. "I can pass a message along to his secretary. Please wait here."
Roxxanne waited anxiously, her mind racing with the thoughts of what she would say to Murphy(Alex). She hoped that he would agree to see her once again.
After what felt like an eternity, the concierge returned, a hint of sympathy in his eyes. "Mr. Mertill's secretary will contact you later in the day to discuss the possibility of arranging a meeting. Please leave your contact information with me." Relief washed over Roxxanne as she hastily scribbled down her contact details. It wasn't the way she had hoped for, but it was a step in the right direction. She thanked the concierge and left the building, her heart filled with a renewed sense of hope.
As the day went on, Roxxanne couldn't concentrate on anything else. She kept her phone close, anxiously awaiting the call from Murphy's (Alex) secretary. The hours dragged on, and the doubts began to creep into her mind. What if Murphy refused to see her? NO. She must stop thinking about negativity.
Finally, as the sun began to set, her phone rang. It was a call from an unfamiliar number. Roxxane's heart raced as she answered. "Hello, this is Murphy Mertill's secretary," a professional voice on the other end said. "I understand that you've been trying to reach Mr. Mertill. He's willing to grant you a brief meeting tomorrow afternoon at his office."
Roxxanne's heart leaped with both excitement and nervousness, "Thank you so much. I'll be there."
The secretary provided her with the details of Murphy's office and the scheduled time of the meeting. Roxxanne hung up the phone, feeling a mix of emotions. She can't wait for tomorrow.
The night before her meeting with Murphy, Roxxanne found it difficult to sleep. She lay awake, her mind filled with a whirlwind of emotions and questions. What would happen in their meeting? Would he chase her away like last time? Would he remember their time together? Could they ever rekindle the connection they had once shared? And the most important of all questions is, would he be able to accept that he has a son?
