Jane's p o v " What have you done? " He jumped back inside and stood before me, his face going all red. Been a while since I last saw Tim this upset. " Excuse me? At what time did you say you were gonna leave? " " You've ruined everything! " He covered his head in his palms. " So what if I knew you were still here? Was I supposed to sleep at the counter? " I walk past him to drop my bag on the bed and he turns to face my back. " I knew it. You did this on purpose! " " Excuse me? " I face him. " This is what I get from you? You should be grateful, at least. " I said a bit more calmly. " Yeah that's what ever matters to you; what you get! " He grunts while bending over beside the bed to pick his bag. He walked up to stand before me. " You've successfully ruined something important to me... again! " I was left entirely speechless. " How unreasonable can you be?... " I demand. " Shut up! " He doesn't yell as he says so but his face is overtaken by fury. Staring at him alone made me disgusted. I lost it and pointed to the door. " Get the hell out of my house! " As if he had been waiting for me to say it, he turns around and heads for the door. He stopped halfway and threw my keys on the table standing beside the door side before shutting the door loudly. I was left transfixed in the center of the room as I tried calming myself down. I shake my head tiredly and walk to the door, turning the key swiftly in its lock till the door is locked. I walk back to my bed and fall on my chest before letting out a deep exhale. I scroll down my phone for a while before closing my eyes for a few minutes... I was already stressed out and tired. I was at the verge of dozing off when there came a soft knock on the door. My eyes flip open instantly and I sit up. " Oh now you've come back to your senses. " I mumbled as I got up fully. When I was closer to the door, the knock came again, this time, louder. I sighed proudly and waited for the third coming of the knock but it didn't come within the time expected. I opened the door only to be faced with the dark night as there wasn't a sign of anyone else. " Tim? " I whispered and looked around only for my attention to be drawn to the headlights of a car as its engines started. I squint my eyes and stare towards the distance before me to see the vehicle reversing. It was the same Peugeot I had seen earlier. It took a turn, passed the walkway and sped off across the main road. I watch it until it finally speeds out of my sight. With a shrug of my shoulders, I walk back in. The bell rings on a Monday morning and the first period is over. I held my textbook to my chest as I got out of the classroom like everyone else did. I brushed shoulders with Tim at the doorway while he was getting in. " Hey! " I called in a casual tone. He turned around to face me, holding back his bag up his shoulder. " What the hell, Genna? " He turned back and continued leaving. " Oh, come on Tim!. " I called but he didn't answer. Don't tell me you're still mad. I thought as I watched him till he got mixed up with the others in the classroom. I shook my head and continued down the hallway. " Genna!... Genna! " I hear my name suddenly from among the crowd behind me. Another distraction. I knew who owned that voice and he wasn't someone I wanted to have a word with this morning so I didn't stop. While I kept walking, I didn't know he was already close to me until I felt his hand pull my shoulder from behind, forcing me to turn around. " Genna! " He barked. " What is it, Kevin? " I asked calmly yet impatiently. " I should be asking you that. " His muscular arm drops off my shoulder and settles beside his thick body. " What part of 'it's over' do you not understand? " My hand goes up in the air and drops back. " You're ridiculous, do you know that? " He paused and stared at me as if I was supposed to give him an answer. " You don't just wake up one day and say it's over! " " Was it just a one day thing? Huh? You're a damn gutless liar. " I turned to go. " Really? I'm always there for you, Genna and what have you? I understand you're still going through a lot from what happened to your dad, I'm sorry. But when you get back to yourself give me a call! " That was it. I turn back to face him. " No hold on! You better take that back! I lost my dad nearly four months ago, yes. It was a hard time for me. But don't tell me you were 'all' there for me. The only person who was there for me was Tim. He has always been. He beat you to that in every aspect and you know it. That's why you hate him so much. " " Just listen the f**k to yourself! " His tone changed to fiery and I could tell he was deeply offended by me bringing Tim up. He always was. " The problem wasn't just about your mum, Kevin. You only care about yourself and no one else. You just want to be the main figure everywhere and in everything. It's disgusting! " Before I could go on, he suddenly grabs my arm and pulls me closer to himself, forcing me to look into his face. " Look at me now and tell me you can actually do without me... I know you, you're just a bluffer. Swear that you're not still drooling over me. Swear that you can even go a day without thinking about me. " Actually, I still thought about him. Now I could feel myself melt down quickly. He was goddamned right. Kevin was just so perfect. You couldn't get enough of staring into his hazel eyes all day. He had such a mature and attractive sense of fashion and speaking of auras, he was awe-inspiring. I couldn't even beat him to it. I saw him as my Adonis. I used to. Everything about him was satisfyingly masculine... except his guts and selfishness. I have to pull myself out of his cage already. I broke myself free of him. " Who exactly do you think you are? " I squealed at him and began taking my steps away. Seeing that his charm didn't work, he gets furious. His kind of rage always made him appear stupid. I had always told him. " Alright, Genna. Go screw yourself, I don't give a f**k! You don't even know I'm trying to protect you! Being with me is the only thing that's kept you safe for this long, Genna! " " What kinda shitty crap are you spilling now? " I asked myself more than I asked him because the distance between us was now getting measurable. " You're in danger now and you don't even know it. Or haven't you noticed some strange kinda movement around you lately? You're screwed! " Before I turned to leave fully I stretched out my middle finger at him and I made sure he saw it. I can still hear him cursing when I turn back. I begin wondering what exactly he meant by that. He was the bluffer, not me. I know him for that. I reached the hall building's exit and my attention was drawn to the shiny Peugeot parked a far distance from the school gate. Of course it was the same car yesterday. It could just be a coincidence right? I just didn't have a good feeling about following the gate anymore so I took a different path.
