Chapter 35As Alan drew up in the van Thomas waved manically at him. He was in high spirits after talking to Nadia and he couldn't contain his excitement.
“You look happy,” Alan observed. “I didn't think the prospect of driving this wee van was so special, but there you go, there's nowt as strange as folk.” Alan got out of the van and went round to the passenger side.
“I'm happy because I've just been speaking to Nadia,” Thomas replied climbing into the driver's seat.
“Nadia?” said Alan, “But I thought Mary was your girlfriend. What's happened to Mary?”
'Yes,' said the voice. 'What has happened to Mary? Have you killed her off?'
“Nothing's happened to Mary,” Thomas hissed. “She's perfectly all right. I'm allowed to have other friends who are girls aren't I?”
