Chapter Two: Battle for Survival

1257 Words
After the violent shake that hit the ship and the appearance of the massive wave, everything turned upside down. The sea turned into a raging beast, and the fierce winds began to buffet the ship. Jack, who was standing in an open area, clung to the ship with all his might, trying not to be thrown to the ground. He looked up to the sky to find it had darkened, and lightning split the clouds with terrifying flashes. The fierce waves almost threw him off the back of the ship, but he held on determinedly and headed inside, soaked with the seawater that violently collided with the ship. He entered the command center where he found Alex struggling to control the ship, with Lena and Noor beside him. Alex, with great skill, steered the ship through the raging waves, trying to avoid the sharp rocks that threatened their safety. The navigation was a difficult challenge; the ship collided with several rocks, affecting its structure. When he realized that the ship could not hold on any longer, Alex ordered to jump into the sea and head to the shore by swimming. The ship began to slowly collapse, so the crew jumped into the sea before it completely sank, and they swam towards the island. But the sea was still raging and violent, and swimming was fraught with danger. The fierce waves tossed them in every direction, the winds whistled in their ears, and the rain struck their faces harshly. They felt the cold seeping into their bones, exhaustion weighing down their bodies, and pain wringing them. They had to maintain their balance and focus, and avoid the sharp rocks that lay in wait for them among the treacherous waves. Lena said, “This is the hardest thing I’ve done in my life! I don’t know if I’ll make it to the island or not.” Alex replied, “Don’t say that, Lena, we are very close. I see the shore. We just have to keep going a little longer.” Noor said with great fatigue, “I feel like my arms are giving up on me. I’ve swum a lot. This is very exhausting, I’m tired.” Jack tried to encourage her, “Don’t think about that. Just think about reaching the island, it’s very close!” The friends continued to swim with all the strength and determination they had, defying the storm and the sea. They prayed to God to protect them and save them. They encouraged and supported each other. And they tried to advance towards the island, using the last remaining strength they had. After what seemed like hours of swimming, they got much closer to the island. But they were not alone. Suddenly, they felt something pulling them down. They looked below and saw huge and terrifying sea creatures resembling octopuses. They had round, bloated bodies, small pointed heads, and large, glowing eyes. They had eight long, mucus-covered arms, equipped with elbows, joints, and suction cups. They used them to grasp their prey and pull it into their large, tooth-filled mouths. They attacked them from the depths swiftly and nimbly. They grabbed Jack, Noor, and Alex, who struggled to free themselves, feeling terror and suffocation, fighting for their lives to survive. Alex was the first to reach his knife, which he always carried with him as a means of self-defense in emergencies, and immediately began to cut the arms surrounding him, causing deep wounds. He heard the creature’s painful cries and felt its hot blood spilling over him. The creature let go of him after feeling great pain and fled. Noor, caught in the octopus’s arms, desperately searched for something to defend herself with as she felt the arms pressing on her chest and restricting her breathing. She felt like she was about to lose consciousness. Fortunately, she saw a piece of wood from the ship floating nearby, with iron nails in it. She used her free arm to reach it and took it. Then she began stabbing the arms holding her, injuring the creature with all her strength until she freed herself and continued swimming forward. Jack tried to escape from the arms wrapping around him. He kicked and hit them with all his might and tried to flee, but he couldn’t inflict any damage. Those arms were strong and flexible. Jack felt as if he was about to die. But he didn’t give up. He pulled a knife from his pocket and quickly pounced on one of the arms wrapped around him. He pushed it forcefully into the thick skin, trying to kill the creature, and after several stabs in the head, he managed to kill it. Lena found herself alone among the raging waves, thrown far away from her companions. She fought with all her strength to reach the shore amid the thrilling waves that threatened to drown her at any moment. She felt despair engulfing her as she tried hard to reach the island, despite the difficulty of the task, but at least she was away from the danger of the sea creatures that had threatened her from the beginning. After a fierce and terrifying battle, when they succeeded in getting rid of the attack, they continued swimming quickly, without any hesitation in their hearts, enduring the fierce waves with strength and determination. After a long struggle, they miraculously reached the shore, breathing heavily. They were smeared with blood and saltwater, injured with wounds and bruises. Despite all this, they were happy to have survived. After they arrived at the island, it became necessary for them to find shelter to protect themselves from the severe cold. They fully realized that staying on the beach for an extended period would not be feasible. They needed to find a safe and comfortable place to stay. Therefore, they decided to explore the island, with Alex leading the way, followed by Jack and the rest of the team. Their clothes were wet, and they felt extremely cold, with strong winds blowing. They headed towards the forest, walking on the sand. Upon reaching the forest, Jack admired the beauty of the palm trees and the variety of trees around him, but he continued to move forward to shelter from the strong winds. The deeper they went, the more they penetrated the dense forest. During their walk, Alex noticed a cave , so the team decided to head there to make it a temporary shelter to protect them from the harsh weather conditions. Alex said, “Alright, we’ll head to the cave and find a way to start a fire there. Don’t worry, we’ll use the resources available in the cave for light and warmth.” Lena entered the cave and said, “Are we going to stay here in this cold cave?” Jack replied to her, “Outside the cave, the winds are blowing hard, but here it provides us protection from these strong winds.” Alex said, “Let’s gather some dry leaves and some branches to start a fire.” Jack responded, “I’ll look for some dry herbs that can easily catch fire, and I’ll collect some branches too.” Noor said, “I will also help in gathering branches to start the fire.” Lena replied to her, “Noor, do you need help gathering the branches? I’ll be with you to do it together.” Alex said, “When you bring everything, put it here in the middle of the cave, and I’ll try to start the fire.”
