Chase

Chase headed to the pack witch’s house as soon as he got back on his pack lands. He needed to find out why his mate’s Lycan was blocked because he was pretty sure that was why she couldn’t feel the mate bond. Although, she was clearly attracted to him and she felt what she thought was a static shock when he touched her hand. Obviously, the mate bond was trying to break through.

He knocked on the door of the witch’s house, impatient to solve the mystery so he could claim his mate and Luna.

“Alpha,” the witch Tabitha greeted him with a slight bow of her head.

“I need a favor Tabby,” Chase told her, “Do you mind if I come in?”

“You are always welcome here,” she replied and stepped back to let him in.

Nobody really knew how old Tabitha was, she looked quite young with her red hair and sparkling green eyes. Witches could live to be hundreds of years old but most of them stopped aging around their mid twenties. Unless they practiced black magic, they always looked very old and never stopped aging. It was part of the price they paid for their evil deeds. Most packs didn’t have a witch, and many weren’t on good terms with witches in general. But Tabitha was mated to one of his elite warriors Darrick so she chose to leave her coven and come with him. Chase didn’t mind letting any type of shifter or witches join his pack as long as they were willing to pledge their loyalty.

Tabitha and Darrick’s son Brett played on the floor in the living room. Being a hybrid, they weren’t sure if he would have a wolf or witch powers, or both. They wouldn’t be able to tell until he was older.

“I found my mate,” Chase told Tabitha.

“Well that would be a cause for celebration. But why would you need a favor from me?” Tabitha asked him looking a little confused.

“Well my mate doesn’t seem to know that she is a Lycan, and when Robicheaux reached out to her wolf she could barely respond. Her wolf did manage to get across that she was bound and had been since Kyrie was a baby. He couldn’t get anything else from her. And Kyrie did seem to be attracted to me but she didn’t acknowledge the mate bond pull at all. And when we shook hands, she felt a static shock while I felt the sparks,” Chase explained to her.

“She’s a Lycan,” Tabitha mused, “This is all very strange because it takes a very powerful spell to bind a Lycan and would probably take at least two powerful witches to complete a spell like that.”

“It’s all very strange,” Chase agreed, “But I’ve been waiting for my mate for so long and I just want to fix this so we can be together.”

“The thing is,” Tabitha said, “Her Lycan would only be bound if she was dangerous, which I doubt, or very powerful so they could keep her hidden until she was able to protect herself.”

“Why do you doubt it’s because she is dangerous?” Chase asked her curiously.

“Mainly because she has been bound since she was a baby. She would have had to be old enough to shift and prove she was dangerous before they would have bound her. But you can absolutely feel how powerful a child is, even if they aren’t old enough to wield that power,” Tabitha told him.

“So how do we fix this?” Chase questioned.

“I’m going to have to go meet her and shake hands with her so I can get a glimpse into what spell was used to bind her. Then we will know if it’s a spell that I can break or if we’re going to need help,” Tabitha said thoughtfully tapping on her chin.

At that moment Brett stood up and spoke, “She’s very special.”

“Who’s special honey?” Tabitha kneeled down in front of her son as she asked.

“The bound Lycan,” he replied in his childish voice.

“Who told you that my baby?” Tabitha asked him.

Brett smiled innocently at his mother, “The moon goddess told me.”

Chase stared at the small boy in shock. “How could he know something like that?” he asked her.

“Some of Brett’s gifts have been starting to show. I also sensed recently that his wolf is starting to form. Of course he won’t be able to communicate with the wolf for some time, he definitely is going to have one,” Tabitha replied.

“ Well when do you think that you will be able to go and meet Kyrie?” Chase asked.

“I will go first thing in the morning. I’ll tell her that I’m a neighbor coming to introduce myself,” Tabitha told him.

“Thank you for your help, Tabby,” Chase said gratefully.

“It’s no problem, Alpha, and congratulations on finding your mate,” Tabitha replied as she walked him to the door.

Declan

“How did she escape,” he growled and punched a hole in the wall, “What time did you get here to keep an eye on her?”

“Well, I was here within an hour of you leaving the house. And as soon as I realized that she wasn’t inside I called you,” Jared told him.

Jared was a rogue wolf that he paid to do his dirty work and also the one he had to keep an eye on his chosen mate when he wasn’t home.

“We have to find her. As soon as I get her Lycan unlocked, I am taking her as my chosen mate. Then once we mate I will share her power. Our children would be Royal Lycans and together we can challenge them for the throne , we would be unstoppable with power that’s never been seen before,” Declan shouted punching the wall again.

“Well she clearly had this planned in order to have escaped in the brief interval between you leaving and me arriving,” Jared told him.

“I don’t understand how she planned this without me noticing but we will find her and I will bring her back,” Declan growled.
