Chase The morning after the attack, Chase decided to make his way down to the cells, bringing his father, the king, and his Beta and Gamma with him. He needed to figure out why the rogues were attacking. First, at Kyrie's house and then now at his own pack. He was fairly sure that it all had something to do with his mate, and he needed to know what because he would protect her at any cost. Arriving in the cells, the metallic scent of blood hit him, along with the foul scent that rogues gave off, and other gross smells that were honestly, a normal part of the cells. He walked down the dim hallway peering in the cells, and realized that the two girls who had been placed there for disrespecting their Luna were still there. He had honestly forgotten about them with all the chaos that had ensued since then. Being down there with the rogue wolves was a nice touch for their punishment. These girls, unfortunately, were not bright enough to keep their mouths and just sit here for the week that he had sentenced them to. "Alpha Chase, I am so glad you came to your senses and are here to free us," Erica whined. "I'm not here to free you. You will remain here for the week that I sentenced you," Chase replied coldly. "But Alpha, is it so wrong of us to want you to choose one of us, a white she-wolf, as your mate?" Sylvia asked, "It just doesn't make sense for you to mate with that mutt, that I am fully convinced is not a member of the royal family." At that moment, Kyrian stepped forward with a roar and slammed his aura into the two girls, dropping them and causing them pain as their faces pressed hard into the nasty concrete floor. "How dare you speak about my daughter like this!" he roared at the girls, forcing them down even harder on their faces. "We don't know who you are," Erica stammered, trembling, as she struggled to raise her face up from the floor. "I am the Lycan king, and that is my daughter, a Lycan princess. And what makes you think that your white skin makes you a better potential Luna than she is? Do you think that you are somehow better than the royal family?” he snarled. He paused and took a sniff of the air and gave the trembling she-wolf a cold smile. “You are a clearly untrained warrior’s daughter, and I have half a mind to allow my daughter to challenge you and put you in your place.” The king released them from his aura, and they stood back up. “Alpha, how can you allow him to treat us like this?” Erica asked pitifully with tears in her eyes. “Shut the hell up!” he shouted at them. “One more word from you about my mate and Luna or the royal family, and you will be banished from this pack!” Finally, seeming to grasp the gravity of their situation, they shut their mouths and went and sat quietly on their cots. Looking at the guards in the hallway, Chase shouted down the hallway to them, “Change their sentences to a full month in the cells for continuing to disrespect their Luna and for disrespecting the royal family.” They walked away from the 2 girls in the cells, and the Alpha King stopped Chase with a hand on is shoulder. "Thank you for defending my daughter, and apparently immediately punishing the girls who disrespected her. I'm very pleased with the swift punishment," Kyrian told Chase. Chase nodded at him and continued down the hallway to the cells where the rogues were locked up. Unfortunately, they were unlikely to talk unless they were tortured, which he hated, but was also sometimes necessary to protect the pack. Sometimes, the intel received from the rogues was absolutely vital in preventing future attacks. Much to his surprise, the youngest rogue, captured a few days prior, ran up to the bars. "I'll tell you anything you want to know. I just want to be brought to a pack that I can join. My wolf is suffering without one," he said. "Well, depending on what you tell me, that may be possible," Chase replied. Motioning to the guards to pull up chairs outside the cell, the men had a seat. "We're all ears," Chase told him. Toby Swallowing hard, as he peered out of the cells, Toby had to admit that the men standing there were terrifying, and the aura coming off of them had his knees shaking. But he also knew that these guys were probably the only ones that could help him. "How old are you young man?" the guy with the strongest aura asked him. "I'm 18 years old sir," Toby replied. "What's your name, so we have it for the records?" one of the men asked him, a Beta if he was reading his aura correctly. "My name is Toby, sir," he replied. "Well, can you tell me why first my mate's house and then my packhouse were attacked within days of each other?" the one he recognized as the alpha asked him. "So there is a guy named Declan that is going around telling people that his mate was stolen by you, and that he needs to get her back," Toby explained. The growls that issued from the men in front of him, had him dropping to his knees with his face pressed to the floor in fear. "That's the bastard I was trying to hide my daughter from anyway. He's a wolf and demon hybrid, and he is dangerous," the one the others called Kyrian, growled. "I'm fairly sure that's the same name Kyrie gave me. He was her abusive ex-boyfriend. He beat her and basically kept her hostage until she managed to escape," Chase told him angrily. "So how did you get mixed up in all this? You are barely more than a pup?" the man who was an older version of the alpha asked him. "I was kicked out of my pack over a false accusation. My father was one of the Luna guards at my old pack. So, I was in training to take over his position once he retired. But unfortunately, the alpha's daughter had tried to sleep with me on multiple occasions. She kept trying to get us caught in compromising situations. I told her over and over that I only wanted my true fated mate. But she finally managed to sneak into my room with no clothes on. She then mind-linked several people to come into my room and 'catch' us. So I woke up to the alpha and several warriors in my room acting as though I had slept with her. The alpha insisted that since I had ruined her honor that I must take her as a chosen mate. I refused, and I told him that I didn't sleep with her and that she had snuck into my room. My punishment for refusing was 30 lashes with a silver-tipped whip and then banishment. Then this guy named Jimmy had told me that he could help me get a job and to get back into a pack. And me and the other guys were told that the job was to help Declan get his mate back. He was a terrifying guy, always getting angry and his eyes turning black. So I was scared to walk away from the job, and I desperately wanted to find a pack to take me in. I really had no idea that your Luna wasn't actually his mate," Toby told them. "If this is true, then you could possibly join this pack. However, I will have to call for a seer from the royal court to verify your story," the alpha told him. "No you don't Chase," Kyrian told him, "Call Calista down here. One of her gifts is knowing if someone is telling the truth or a lie." "Well, I hope you are telling the truth, Toby, because this is your life on the line," the alpha told him. Chase Chase sighed as the walked back up the stairs into the packhouse. He honestly had more questions than answers at this point. Why did this Declan guy think that the royals would just allow him to kidnap their daughter? And what did he expect to accomplish by taking her?
