Chase
As Chase was sitting in his chair in his office and preparing to call the Royal Lycans, his Beta and Gamma walked into his office.
“I hear congratulations are in order,” Justin said, “I was told you found our Luna.”
“I came to congratulate you as well,” Lucien added as they sat in the chairs on the other side of his desk.
“Thank you,” Chase replied, “But the situation is a bit complicated at the moment.”
“Anything we can help with?” Justin asked.
“My mate is the woman that just moved in nearby that has the bound Lycan. Tabitha is doing research on spells that might help to unbind her but she also suggested calling the Lycan King because she believes that she is a Royal,” Chase explained with a sigh.
“So I was right,” Lucien said, “Her wolf is bound and she has no clue that she’s a shifter.”
“You were right but now I need to figure out how to fix this. The other side of this is that Kyrie can’t feel the mate bond, so Robicheaux is going nuts with the desire to accept his mate and we just can’t yet. Someone who was raised by humans is going to think I’m crazy if I start talking to her about werewolves, Lycans, and mate bonds,” Chase told them.
“Well is there something we can do to help? We want our Luna just as much as you want your mate,” Justin queried.
“Actually there is,” Chase replied, “I need the two of you to see if you can find out why there’s a reptile shifter masquerading as an alligator, hanging around her property.”
“We’ll get on that right away, Alpha,” the two said in unison.
“I appreciate that guys. Let me know what you find out. There’s just so much that isn’t making sense here,” Chase told them.
As the two of them walked out of the room, Chase picked up his phone and dialed the number to Royal Lycan office.
All werewolf and Lycan Alphas were under the rule of the Royals. It was said that the Royals were the direct descendants of Fenrir, the Lycan god, and because of that many of them were more powerful than any other type of shifter. Werewolves were the children of the Moon Goddess. The Moon Goddess, Selene, was also the creator of mate bonds, choosing which souls were to be bound together for life.
Chase finally got an answer after being placed on hold for several minutes.
“Royal Beta here, how may I assist you?” a gruff voice came over the line.
“This is Chase Laneaux, Alpha of the Silver Claw Pack. And I’ve got a crazy situation going on here that I really need some assistance in handling,” Chase told him.
“Please explain the situation. Then we can decide from there if you need assistance from us,” the Royal Beta told him.
Chase told him the whole story from the time his Gamma told him about meeting Kyrie, up to the present and the information that Tabitha gave him.
Suddenly another voice shouted nearby, “That’s my daughter. She’s finally been found!”
“Your Highness, it’s really too early to know if this is in fact your daughter,” the Royal Beta, whose name was Marcus, replied.
“Who else could it be?” the king replied.
Chase listened in shock to the exchange. If the king was in fact correct then that made his mate not just a member of the royal family but an actual princess.
“Alpha Chase, correct?” The king’s voice came over the phone.
“Yes, Your Highness,” Chase replied.
“I’m really quite sure from everything that you have told us, that this is my daughter. I will explain further in person but I need you to guard Kyrie with your life. We will be arriving in three days time. Can you provide accommodation 5 Royals and 20 members of the Royal Guard?” The King asked him.
“Absolutely, Your Majesty. I will start preparations immediately. And then I will personally keep guard over Kyrie and assign several warriors to guard the area around her house,” Chase told the king.
“Thank you. And may the blessings of Fenrir and the Moon Goddess shine down upon your pack,” King Kyran said to Chase before disconnecting the call.
Chase immediately mind linked the Lead Omega, the lead Warrior, and his parents, to come to his office. When they arrived Chase explained everything to them and gave them all their assignments to get the ball rolling on everything.
His father, Charles, the retired Alpha, put his hand on his shoulder, “Look son, we can handle this here, why don’t you go to your mate?”
“Thanks Dad,” Chase replied and needed no further encouragement to head over to Kyrie’s house.
Kyrie
Kyrie was sitting on her front porch, which had become her favorite place in her new home. Staring out into the swamp watching a few smaller alligators swim around looking for food. There were also some ducks hanging around in her front yard, which she was enjoying watching. She did a double take as she saw a weird giant rodent eating some plants a little ways down from the ducks.
She was suddenly distracted from watching all these animals by Chase walking up towards her house. She went to the screen door and opened it as he came up by her steps.
“Good morning, Chase,” she said with a smile, “ Please come have a seat.”
“Good morning, Ms. Kyrie,” he said in that deep voice that sent little shivers down her spine.
He walked by her towards the offered seat and as he did, his arm brushed against hers and she felt that strange little shock again. It wasn’t an unpleasant feeling really, just strange.
“Would you like a cup of coffee?” Kyrie asked him.
“That would be lovely ma’am,” Chase said with a smile.
Kyrie brought out the cream and sugar and set them on the table. She got distracted for a moment because he smelled so ridiculously good. Like spring rain and a woodsy smell that she couldn’t quite identify. She shook her head and walked back inside and made two cups of coffee and set them on the table before sitting down across from him.
“So what brings you out this way,” Kyrie asked him.
Chase was a bit shocked when she brought the cream and sugar out to set them on the table. For one split second her eyes had glowed a bright almost electric blue before returning to her normal light brown. He fought back Robicheaux, who was screaming Mate! in his mind again. She smelled amazing to him, like coffee beans and chocolate, and he was hit by a wave of desire.
When she brought the coffee out and sat down gracefully across from him and asked him what brought him this way, he had to blink a couple of times before he could even answer.
“Who could miss a chance to see your beautiful face?” He replied and was pleased with the faint blush that sprang up across her cheeks before she smiled shyly at him.
“That’s so sweet,” she replied.
“I wanted to see if you would like to go to lunch with me today,” Chase told her and she looked surprised for a moment.
“I would love to,” Kyrie told him, “Just give me a few minutes to change clothes and we can go.”
Chase was thrilled that she agreed, “Take your time love, I’m not in a rush.”
Kyrie blushed again at the endearment he used, and stood up and walked back inside her house to go change.
Kyrie couldn’t believe her good luck. Chase was so hot, and he wanted to take her out for lunch. Maybe life was actually starting to get better for her.
Sticking her head back out the door she asked him, “Do I need to dress up or is it a casual place?”
“It’s casual,” he replied.
She turned around and headed back to her bedroom to find an outfit. She settled on a pair of khaki shorts and dark purple top with a v-neck. She grabbed a pair of socks and slipped on a pair of black Hey Dude shoes. Looking at her appearance in her full length mirror, she was satisfied with her appearance.
She walked back out to the porch and said, “I’m ready, I guess. Do you want to take my truck so you don’t have to go get your vehicle?”
“That’s fine with me,” Chase told her with a smile, “You look beautiful by the way.”
“Thank you,” Kyrie replied, pretty sure that she was melting on the inside from the sweet way he talked to her.
They climbed in the truck and she got directions from him and they headed off to the restaurant he had in mind.
