The People Here Are So Friendly

1112 Words
Kyrie Kyrie sat on her porch chewing on her lip. She really wanted to text Chase. Even though she had just met him, something about him drew her in. But she also didn’t want to come across as a stalker. What if she had misread his interest in her? What if he was just being nice? As she mused over these thoughts about the handsome stranger, she was suddenly drawn from her thoughts by a woman knocking on the door of her porch. She walked to the door and was surprised to see what was easily one of the most beautiful women she had ever seen. The woman had pale skin, dark red hair, and emerald green eyes. She was also quite tall and slim. “Hello, my name is Tabitha, but you can call me Tabby. Everyone else does. I’m one of your new neighbors and I wanted to introduce myself,” the lady told her. “Oh please come on up and have a seat on the porch with me,” Kyrie replied and unlocked and opened the screen door to the porch. She offered her hand to Tabby and they shook hands although Tabby looked her strangely in the eyes when they did. Walking over to the table Tabitha sat down gracefully in the seat opposite of the one Kyrie had been sitting at and gave her a friendly smile. “Would you like a cup of coffee? I just made some fresh,” Kyrie asked her. “I would love that,” Tabby answered. Kyrie went inside and grabbed the sugar bowl and some creamer and sat it on the table before returning with 2 steaming cups of coffee. The ladies sat in silence for a moment as they added cream and sugar to their cups. Tabitha broke the silence with a gentle laugh, “We must be destined to be friends because we like our coffee the same way.” Kyrie grinned at her before agreeing, “I think you are right.” “So how are you liking it here? It’s a pretty nice place to live,” Tabby questioned. “I love it so far. The people here have been so nice, although apparently I have an overly friendly alligator in residence ,” Kyrie said. “I actually heard about that,” Tabby said with a giggle, “Chase told me he had to drag it out of the way by the tail.” “Oh you know Chase?” Kyrie asked her. “Yeah,” Tabby said, “Everyone knows everyone around here. He’s quite good looking though, isn’t he?” “Yes he is,” Kyrie replied blushing slightly, “ You aren’t dating him or anything?” “Oh no. I’m happily married,” Tabby told her extending her left hand that had an exquisite emerald ring and wedding band, “ But I’m not blind though and Chase is definitely gorgeous, and also quite single.” Kyrie was thrilled to know that he was single. “So is he as nice as he seems to be?” she asked her new friend. “He’s probably even nicer than you think he is, he’s an absolutely terrific guy,” Tabby replied. The ladies chatted for a while longer before Tabitha arose gracefully and said that she needed to get going. “It was lovely to meet you,” Kyrie told her sincerely. “ I feel the same way. I think we’re going to be great friends,” Tabitha replied with a smile. Kyrie walked her to the door and gave her a wave when Tabitha turned back at the end of the driveway. She smiled and waved back before heading on towards the road. Chase Chase waited impatiently for Tabitha to return. His wolf was going a little crazy at having met his mate but not being able to accept her immediately. The way their wolves looked at things were really so much simpler. They wanted their mates and to immediately be with them. Chase finally saw Tabitha walking to her front door. “Hey Tabby,” he said running up to her. “Hi Chase. I figured you would be waiting on me to get back,” she said with a laugh, “Please come on in.” “Sorry,” Chase said, “I just can’t wait to figure this out.” “It’s fine. She’s quite lovely by the way, so congratulations. You will certainly have some beautiful pups,” Tabitha told him. “So did you figure out what kind of spell was used?” Chase asked. “So it is a really powerful spell. But I was also able to connect with her Lycan briefly. I’m pretty sure she’s a Royal Lycan. So you might want to contact the king about this. In the meantime, I can work on an unbinding spell but I think you might get this resolved more quickly by contacting them,” Tabitha answered. “Oh wow, a Royal Lycan,” Chase mumbled a little shocked, “Why would the Moon Goddess pair me with a Royal?” “Perhaps because you of all people actually deserve a wonderful pairing like this. There’s no way really to know the Moon Goddess’s mind, I would just accept the blessing,” Tabitha told him. “I guess I’m going to go place a call to the King and see if he knows anything about this situation,” Chase said, still feeling a bit shocked at the possibility of being paired with a Royal Lycan. “I would suggest going to visit your mate after you make the call,” Tabitha suggested, “There’s nothing wrong with trying to get her to fall in love with you outside of the mate bond. It would only strengthen her feelings once she feels the pull of the mate bond the way you do.” “That’s actually a great idea,” Chase agreed, “ And maybe Robicheaux will calm down a bit after he sees her for a little while.” “I will calm down when I get to hold and mark my mate,” Robicheaux huffed in his mind. “Well, why don’t you go make your phone call so I can go ahead and start researching unbinding spells,” Tabitha said. “I think I will go ahead and do that. Thank you so much for your help Tabby,” Chase said before heading out the door. As he walked towards the pack house, he wondered at the fact that she was possibly a Royal Lycan and what that would mean for his pack later on.
