I grumbled as I tried to focus. "Who the hell wants it all sewed? They're supposed to be glued." I fluffed the feathers as I took them all off the order strand and moved to set them all down the same way. "I don't want to glue to show." I mimicked and sighed as I moved to get a new pack. So far I knew that I had to get over 9,000 feathers down on the trumpet dress before gluing down every rhinestone on the bodice. "Who are you talking to." I jumped and turned, my magic going haywire and all the feathers around me blew around. "Why didn't I hear the door?" I asked as I saw Charlie leaning down to start scooping up the feathers flitting about. "Great. Even more work." I fell to the floor and covered my head and Charlie chuckled. "There is more white in this room than before." He looked around and I sighed. "I hate her." I whispered and he looked up at me. "Who?" He lifted what was in his hands and set it back on my work table. "I will give you three guess." I muttered and waved my hand over the feathers and picked them up with a gust of wind before sitting back down on my stool and ran a hand through my hair. "What did Claire do?" He asked and I looked up at him and smiled. "You really don't want to get into this." He smiled back and crossed his arms. "Oh I think you need to talk to someone before talking to yourself gets you angrier." He chucked at the last part and I sighed. "Well.. for her trumpet gown she wanted feathers all along the bottom to her thighs. And the way you get them on the dress is with glue." I muttered and rolled my eyes. "When I was walking her thought this... she said she refused to let me glue them, even though it dries clear, she wants me to sew it to the fabric, however that is basically impossible." I grumbled and started to pull them all apart again before shaking my head. "Can't you use your magic?" He asked and I bit my lip as I set things down. "My magic is limited to what I know. If I can't figure out how to get these done then I can't use my magic to help. One of my half human problems. How about we just go get that drink." I told him and pushed the feathers away before standing and walking towards the back door and locking it. "You sure?" He asked as I grabbed my sweater and I just nodded at him before he walked just behind me. I shut off all the lights, and he held the door open as I shut off the computer as well. "Cold?" He asked when I started to shiver and my hands shook as I locked up the front door. "Kind of. I had the heater on high." I could see my breath every time I blew out. "Is the bar far then?" He asked and I shook my head. "It's just down the other block." I pointed to it and he just nodded and we began walking. "So where do you live exactly?" I asked him and he smiled over at me before looking around. "A lot of places at the moment. I have a house here, my aunt left it to me. I have a place in Bozeman, and another in the mountains near Canada." He told me and I just nodded. "I guess you get some freedom in your work. What do you do?" I asked and he coughed before laughing. "I don't work. I mostly do stocks and bonds and investments. That's what I went to school for." He told me and I just nodded. "Must be good at it if you can afford two homes on top of the one left to you. I know that some property taxes around here are killer when they get passed on and not the original owner anymore." I told him and blushed deeply when I realized I might have just made him realize I was having troubles. "I do okay. I like it mostly. I get to stay home and dabble on the computer. You must of really liked making dresses, you took over for someone right? I remember that shop being here when I was a teenager." He nodded back the way we came and I nodded. "My mom. She made the dresses and she taught me everything she knew." I told him and he nodded slowly. "So you didn't have to go to school. Just learned from the master." He smiled and I paused. "No, I went to a design school for a little while. Just an updated version while she still rant he shop. Then... then she got sick since she couldn't go back home." I told him and clamped my hands together. "Why? I don't mean to sound ignorant, but she was a Pixie right? Full. You said you were half." He asked and I gulped. "She was banned from returning because she had me. She was doomed to live a human life because she mated with one." I told him and he blew out a breath he as he should his head. "Is there a rule that you can only mate Pixies?" He asked me and I gulped. "They don't consider me a Pixie. I am a half blood, but my mother was expected to mate with a male Pixie and have tons and tons of babies that would serve their heiarchy." I looked up at the bar and sighed. "Lots to talk about on a simple drink night huh?" I asked him as he moved forward to open the door for the both of us. "I find it a bit interesting. I don't know much about other creatures." He told me and I nodded. "I don't either. I mean I know some facts about the ones in town, but that is about it." I told him and he nodded as we got to a booth. "What kind of drink will you have?" He asked me and I gulped. "A white wine." I told him and he nodded before heading right over to the bar. I sat my bag down beside me before taking off my sweater and tossing it over my purse and waiting and watching him. He waited for one of the girls behind the counter to get a moment of free time. When one came over I noticed him keeping the conversation short. He looked over at me as the lady went to get the drinks and before he could do anything else another woman was grabbing his arm and starting a conversation. I didn't remember her name but I knew she was with the bridal party. I looked away and started to dig about the grit and dirt from under my nails. I was done and contemplating getting up and getting out of here when I looked up and over to see him with the other woman who now had a wine glass to her lips, and he had a beer. "Right." I whispered and while he was focused on her I got back up, slipped out of the booth with my purse and sweater and walked out putting it all on. I got down the street, feeling the harsh wind before getting to my little house. I dug around in my purse and finally found my keys before opening the door. I tossed my bag down, hung my keys up, pulled off my sweater and opened my closet and hung it up before turning on two lights. "I guess I will get my own wine." I got into the kitchen, pulled my glass from the dishwasher I had ran this morning before opening my bottle from the fridge. I sat down on my comfy chair and curled up, thinking hard about the whole feather thing while sipping my wine. I relaxed and decided to finish my wine and go to bed. I tossed it back and got up. I chucked my jeans and button up and crawled into bed. I tossed the blankets half on and half off before closing my eyes. Before I knew it I was dreaming about making the dress without glue and an idea popped into the dream. My alarm at 6 the next morning had me up and getting in the shower and ready for the day. I was almost chipper. I got to the shop after curling my hair and flipped the lights on and just started to work. I knew I had the get the trumpet dress done before it annoyed me too much. And the more I focused on the dress making the less time I had to worry about why I was ditched at the bar.
