Ch 18

As soon as the villagers saw Death trotting down the hill with her allies, it erupted in cheers as if a volcano erupted washing waves of joy to the villagers. "Never thought our lil ol Death would be worshiped on such a scale." War said, smirking at Death as they ventured closer to the village. Death shot a glance as if it was a bullet at War. "What makes you say that?" She asked him, already knowing the answer. Suddenly, War began to sweat as if he was under the scorching sun of hell again. The Devil quietly watched as the two went back and forth but tuned them out. His mind turned to days before when they returned to earth six years ago. He could feel the breeze on his pale skin, the heat kissing him as he closed his eyes and took a deep breath. "Feels like nothing changed, huh?" Conquest asked, creeping up next to him. His eyes shot open. "All we need is Famine." He said sadly, tears forming around his eyes. "What's this? The big bad Devil crying over spilled milk?" Death said mockingly. "Famine was our friend, and you killed him." War blurted out as they reached halfway to the village from the hill overlooking the village. Each person was on their knees whispering, murmuring to themselves, bowing in unison as they muttered. "Welcome to the village of my most loyal followers." Death said, raising her arms to the sky smiling."Even your father would have trouble with these men and women." She said, grinning from ear to ear. Impressed The Devil shot an evil grin at her. "That's why we love you." The Devil said laughing maniacally as he saw the plan he envisioned begin to fall into place. Like a chess board, each carefully laid out strategy he had was working out against his opponents. "Jesus and Antichrist won't know what to do when we finish off their armies with this big of a force." Conquest said confidently. "You would think that." A voice echoed into the back of The Devil's head pounding like a fist on a door. "We need more troops....." He trailed off speaking before thinking. Everyone looked at him with questionable eyes falling silent from the chanting. "Are you saying my followers won't get the job done?" Death spoke up, finally breaking the silence like she does with mortal souls that begrudgingly fight her. "We have a million men wanting to die for the cause. Sixteen thousand women willingly give their lives up to support our endeavor, and you think that we need more?" Death questioned The Devil, who was standing there listening to every voice in the crowd. "Lordess Death, we will......" A voice trailed off as a loud BANG in the distance silenced the soul. "What the...." Death could say before a bullet whizzed past her grazing her flawless skin. "GET DOWN!" War screamed, forcing Conquest to the ground. "PROTECT TGE LORDESS!" A giant man shouted forming ranks around Death, who was kneeled on the ground rubbing her face. "My face!" She constantly screamed. Bullets rang through the air, splitting the wind in two. Slowly, the Devil watched as the army Death spent years buliding had begun to fall to an unknown enemy protecting their Goddess. As if in slow motion, he saw every bullet fly soaring through the air connecting with men and women alike. He heard the anguish enhanced as if he was feeling it was he who was experiencing the bullets piercing through flesh. "GET OUT OF HERE ALL OF YOU!" A man shouted, shielding Death with his body blood pouring from his lips. Nodding, they began to run fast and far the screams echoing through the hill side. Suddenly, he heard what could only turn his hairs straight up on end the howl of wolves. "Don't stop!" The Devil shouted at his companions.
