Ch 16

"It's going to be a long ride ahead." Death said as they emerged from the building. The Devil's eyes burned from how bright it was outside. Shielding his eyes from the sun, The Devil looked at his friends. "We still need our army." He stated. Death smiled. It won't be as big as the army we could have gotten from Mega, but there's still decent size establishments around the area we can use to recruit and, if not, force into our ranks." Death said, smiling a sinster grin. He looked at Death, and his eyes buckled. "So you're telling me. We have to either have humans join our forces by choice or kill them and make them join by your power?" War asked, stomping up to Death to meet her gaze. "Why yes, that's what we need to do." She said with a straight face. "Shouldn't be a problem for us." She continued to say as she c****d an eyebrow."You ARE War after all. She is Conquest. and I'm Death. With good old Luci by our side, we can recruit an army to rival that of either Jesus or Antichrist." She said, finished saying, actually speaking some sense. "Your plan is actually a good plan." Conquest mumbled beneath her breath. Death stared evilly at Conquest. Yelping Conquest started pulling her hair again, turning it firey red to blood red. "You wouldn't be questioning my plan. Would you Conquest? " She asked, staring a hole through her. "N.....no Death." She stumbled over her words it was as she was terrified if Death. The Devil couldn't put his finger on it, but it seemed like Conquest and Death had some unresolved issues from the years before. With no time to think about it now, The Devil shook his head. "I am not sure what happened between you two, but we need to work together if we are going to realize our dreams into reality." He said whistling for his horse. Death smiled. "Why I am unsure what you mean." She gave a wink before saddling up on her horse. Her wink made The Devil weak. Something about Death always had that effect on him. He wasn't sure if it was the form she had taken when they arrived on earth. How fit and slim she was. Or it was just her personality altogether. Either way, it made him feel strange inside. Part of him wanted to trust her fully, but another part said to steer clear and don't trust her. It had been this way for years between them. She would first bring him souls and then bring other souls to heaven where he couldn't reach them. How could he trust her to build an army this time? Was she really going to work with them? What was the real reason she wanted the souls of Mega? She never specified why she wanted them, just she laid siege and was forced to leave. Better yet, how could demons enter Mega? These questions spirled and stirred in his brain as he tried to grasp the reasons behind them. "Hey, you alive over there?" War's voice brought him back to reality where he realized he was on his horse riding south. "Hm?" He said, trying to understand where they were going or how far they've traveled. War looked confused for a second. "Are you ok?" He asked, trotting along. The Devil raised his head, looking at War "Yeah I'm fine. Remind me where we are going." He said confidently. War looked at him for a second before he spoke, "We are going to a village southeast of Ugal. One of Death's followers said they would cooperate." Silence fell heavy on the group as they proceeded what seemed like forever. Finally, they reached the village, and then The Devil noticed something strange about the village. "Death, why is this village full of women and children?" The Devil asked a giggling Death. "Why are these my favorite playmates." She said once again, making The Devil's blood run cold. "What do you mean by that Death?" War asked curious about her response. Her giggle turned into full laughter, catching the attention of the village. "It's her lordess Death." One whispered as they all in unison fell to their knees, most murmuring about not being worthy of her glance. Death smiled as they walked through the crowd of bowing to her. One of the children reached out to touch her as a woman snapped their hand back quickly. "Now!" She boomed across the village, silencing everyone."I'm looking for soldiers to join my army." Gaspes and talk errupted from the crowd. "What the hell?" War said, finally realizing the situation. The Devil felt his blood begin to boil over until hands shot up in the crowd people were volunteering to join. Death pointed her finger to the sky "Oh one more thing. No pregnant women, women with children,or children. Suddenly, the crowd jumped to their feet, praising Death for her mercy. Several women stepped forward. "We all will join you, my lady. And like that, they started building their army.
