"Where are you going to get the energy to fight with bad guys from if you don't eat?"
Brittney, who wasn't listening, stared at him blankly without saying anything.
Lloyd softly called out her name with tenderness.
"Brittney?"
Lloyd was no different from Daven. They had similar personalities, and they had one thing in common: they both loved Brittney. It was only that one didn't know, while the other was scared to confess.
Lloyd had fallen in love with Brittney when she first joined the force. He only discovered his feelings for her later, but he still wouldn't confess, afraid of being rejected and ruining their friendship.
With that, he chose to keep his feelings to himself. But the more he kept them hidden, the more they grew.
Lately, he had decided to confess after the difficult cases had been solved.
...
After Daven got dressed in his work uniform, he went to the counter, where Leticia gave him a list of orders.
"Here you go, my Little Davie."
Although Daven hated the name, as long as it was coming from a pretty girl, he was fine with it.
"Thank you."
"Where's mine?"
A deep, confident voice came from behind Daven.
Daven could feel shivers running down his spine as he turned around.
A bald, tall man wearing a long black leather coat stood behind Daven. He appeared to look bigger and stronger than Amir, making people feel small when standing next to him.
Daven, who found his aura very familiar, scanned him from bottom to top but couldn't recognise him.
The man smiled playfully at Leticia and leaned over the counter, pushing Daven away.
"I asked, where is mine?"
Leticia, who knew the man, rolled her eyes playfully and pouted her lips.
"I don't work with bad men."
"Oh! But I'm gentler in bed."
Amir, who had just gotten out of the kitchen, overheard them. Anger quickly erupted inside him.
'This guy again!'
He quickly went over, pushing poor Daven out of the way.
When this happened, Daven complained in his head.
"Ehm!"
Both Leticia and the man ignored Amir, who was standing right there.
Seeing them ignoring him, he cleared his throat again, but louder than before.
Daven, who was trying to figure out Amir's sudden behaviour, almost cracked up when he realised that Amir was jealous of the man flirting with Leticia.
'I wonder what the relationship between them is. No wonder he doesn't like me. It turns out that Amir wants Leticia for himself.'
Thinking of this, Daven suddenly got an idea that would provoke Amir.
But for now, he just needed to chill and watch what Amir would do with this mountain in front of him.
Amir literally just got ignored again.
He furiously tapped the man's shoulder and said in an unfriendly tone,
"Sorry, but you're blocking my way."
The man simply looked him up and down before mercilessly ignoring him, making Amir feel stupid.
Daven couldn't control himself any longer and burst into laughter.
Seeing this stupid boy laughing at him, Amir became furious at both of them. He stomped hard, almost breaking down the wooden floor.
Daven couldn't stop laughing at the scene and wished that he had taken a video.
He found himself saying,
"Is that all you got?"
"What's going on in here? Amir! Dave! Why aren't you guys going to deliver the orders?"
Their boss shouted from afar.
Daven quickly fled, followed by Amir with his head down.
"Talk later, sweetheart."
The man winked at Leticia before turning around.
"Good to see you here again, old friend."
Daven's boss, Boss Lee, reached out his hand for a handshake.
Shaking Boss Lee's hand, the man teased him.
"Boss Lee, you are so stubborn. Haven't you grown up yet?"
"Ahh, you got jokes, I see. Let's talk in my office."
Boss Lee led the way, and the man followed behind.
After Daven finished packing the orders into his food carrier, he took out his scooter and headed towards the first address.
On the way, he suddenly thought about the guy he had seen in the restaurant.
"Who is he?"
He asked himself while looking blankly at the road.
Without realising it, he increased his speed.
Only then did Daven realise that he was speeding. He stopped abruptly when he saw a car in front of him that he almost crashed into.
"What the f*ck are you doing, boy? You wanna die or something?"
The person driving the car shouted in fury.
Daven simply ignored him and rode past.
He was lucky that this city didn't have many traffic cops. Otherwise, he would have been slapped with a huge fine.
'Phew! What a way to die, delivery boy.'
Inside the office, the man identified as Brod sat opposite Boss Lee.
"Have a drink with me."
Boss Lee poured two glasses of his most expensive drink in his office, which he was always proud of.
Taking a sip, Brod frowned before smiling.
"What a precious drink you have."
"What did you expect? I have good taste, you know."
He sank back into his chair with a haughty smile.
Brod didn't want to waste any more time, as he had somewhere to be.
"I don't wanna waste too much time here. As you know, I'm a businessman, so let's get on with this."
"Hey! He's still my boss. You can't talk bad about him."
Brod looked at him coldly with a terrifying expression.
"Don't mind me. I have this thing of stating facts randomly, hehe..."
Boss Lee smiled sheepishly. He was just an ant in Brod's eyes. He could be crushed easily by him.
"Well, keep them to yourself."
...
Daven, who had left the city, was no longer sure if he was going the right way.
He was no longer seeing houses. All he could see were trees, and the road led into the forest.
He stopped and checked the map on his phone.
"What the..."
It showed that he was going the right way and that he was almost there.
He stood there for a minute before deciding to continue, as he had become curious to find out about this isolated place.
