Chapter 19: Not getting any younger

After work, he went straight to Granny Tae's house which was full of hearty laughters. He had so many questions to ask.

Daven gets the shock of his life when seeing the little girl cleaned, dressed in a pretty colorful dress with her hair styled into two pigtails, she looked beautiful and almost didn't recognise her.

The next scene shocked Granny Tae. Upon seeing Daven's arrival, Amara got up and ran to him with a smile on her face. Seeing her coming, he opened his arms for a hug, which he embraced her warmly like she was his own daughter. Daven's cold heart melded like a not lava which ran down like a river.

Granny Tae watched the sweet moment happening in front of her which she witnessed another side of Daven. He seems to be so close to her, Is the girl his? Granny Tae's mind went blank with a lot of questions.

" Thank you so much for taking care of her, Granny Tae." Daven has never been this happy in his entire life. It made him realize that he was not getting any younger and must soon fix his messed up life and find someone whom he will build a family with, and have beautiful kids just like this beautiful little girl infront of him.

"What's her name?"

Granny Tae was confused for a moment and responds, Amara, isn't she your..."

Before she could finish Daven cuts her off feeling half embarrassed. "No! no! I mean... n-no." He checks the time and Brittney was going to come home after an hour and 30 minutes, which stressed him as he has to let her know about the other girl who is left behind.

Staring at her, Daven was more embarrassed as he didn't know any sign language which he could use to interact with her.

" Can you ask her how old is she? And which city she's from." He scratches is head blushing with embarrassment

" ...Uhm I don't anything about sign language."

Granny Tae laughs softly and looked over at Amara and spoke in sign language. Seeing the movements of the hands and fingers, Daven zoned out with puzzlement written all over his face. Seconds later, they both giggled making Daven feel left out and curious about what they were saying.

"Hey! you better not be making fun of me. Share the joke."

Granny Tae looked at Daven and teased, "If you weren't stubborn, you would've learned sign language just like your wife Brittney."

Brittney? Sign what? Daven didn't believe it and spoke in a childish voice "She doesn't know either.

"Who told you that?"

"I know."

Amara kept looking back and forth at both of them in confusion with her adorable baby face and the laughed softly seeing how silly they looked.

" No who told you that?"

" I'm her husband so..." he paused when he realizes what he just said and quickly looked away with different emotions all over him. ' Damnit! Mouth What the f*ck is wrong with you today?'

"Ehm. I will go back now, should I take her or let her stay for a little while to keep you company?" His voice returned back to the usual one. expressionlessly.

"Oh please let her stay for a while, she has become my new best friend." Granny Tae gently pinched Amara's chubby cheeks that were soft.

" Okay, tell her that I'll be back. " He waves goodbye at Amara and turned around to leave only feeling something tugging his leg. When he turns around. he sees Amara hugging his leg to not leave.

Granny Tae quickly explained to her that he was coming back and bribed her with her delicious cookies. Daven quickly went upstairs and took a shower before calling Brittney.

" Where are you? "

On the other side Brittney rolled her eyes 'Doesn't he know how to greet? '

"I'm still at work, what's up? "

"I need you to help me with something."

He needs my help? What happened?' Brittney's heart began to beat fast. "Is everything okay?"

Daven didn't want to waste time explaining and said, "Just come quick with a car and meet me at Granny Tae's house. What if I'm dying." The last part was only a joke and didn't know that Brittney took it seriously.

"Okay, I'll be there in 10 minutes," she quickly dropped the call and rushed to Lloyd.

Daven who wanted to say more but heard the ending call sound said to himself." Stupid kitten."

" Lloyd, can you please lend me your car? I promise I will return as soon as possible."

Since it was Brittney, he didn't mind and didn't ask anything as he trusts ." Here are the keys"

Brittney takes the keys in a rush and ran out to the underground parking" thank you!"

She completely forgot that she doesn't know how to drive stepped in the BMW car which makes girls cry out in excitement when they see it. Starting the car, she froze, remembering the reason she doesn't have a car. She doesn't know how to drive!

Coincidentally, one of Brittney's colleague was walking to his electric moped. Brittney got out and went to him. "Hey Victor! I'm rushing somewhere, can you please drive the car home ". She points at Lloyd's BMW. "... actually don't know how to drive and I really need to go home "

When Victor saw the car she pointed at, he trembled slightly knowing the owner of the car. " Lloyd's car? Absolutely no...what if I..."

"I will take full responsibility, and he won't know. Please I really need to get home."

Victor sighs helplessly. Brittney is the most respected officer and he can't say no to her. But Lloyd is the scariest. if he finds out he's good as dead.

" Please Victor, I really need your help."

At last Victor agrees. "Okay fine."

Brittney's face brightens up and said. " Thank you! I'll take your electric moped and you take the car."

They switched and drove out with Brittney in front and Victor following behind. When they stopped infront of Granny Tae's house, Victor took his electric moped and left.
