Today was the first day of the week, and Daven was not very excited about it. He lazily got out of bed and went to take a shower.
Fifteen minutes later, he came out wearing a towel wrapped around his waist, with his dark, shiny, long hair dripping with water.
He picked up a dryer and began drying his wet hair. As he looked in the mirror, he noticed that the beard that had grown on his face had almost made him completely forget what he looked like without it.
"Eww! I look like a father of ten."
He raised his free hand and touched his face, slowly caressing his cheeks.
Thinking of shaving his beard, he began going through the drawers. With each one he opened, he found nothing but unnecessary stuff he didn't need at that moment.
While searching, he caught sight of Brittney's reading glasses.
"Aha! Brittney!"
He immediately left his room and went to hers.
Since he had lost his memories and was now not used to Brittney, she had moved out of their room and into another one so things wouldn't feel even more awkward and uncomfortable between them.
When he was about to knock, the door suddenly opened, and a figure bumped into him.
Brittney, who felt something hard and strong in front of her, slowly opened her half closed eyes to see clearly.
She was stunned for a moment but soon recovered and blushed.
It had been a while since she had last seen him like this.
Daven didn't notice her blushing face and immediately got to the point.
"Do you have anything else that I can use to shave my beard?"
Brittney simply shook her head and looked away from him.
Daven slightly frowned in confusion and found himself saying,
"Why? Don't you shave when you... err..."
Cough! Cough!
Daven awkwardly coughed when he realised what he was about to say.
"...Never mind. I'll be in my room."
He immediately disappeared from her sight, leaving dust behind.
Closing the door, he cursed himself.
"You dirty mouthed boy..."
Suddenly, he started having thoughts.
'Have we ever done it?'
The question began wandering through his mind.
"Oh God, why did you give me such a dirty brain?"
He went to his closet and picked out some clothes to wear.
He went downstairs and found Brittney making breakfast. The smell coming from the kitchen made him hungry.
Although Brittney wasn't his type, she was still a good cook.
After he finished eating, Brittney asked him one last time, just to make sure.
"Are you sure you don't want me to go with you? You can get lost."
Daven quickly refused.
"I'll be fine."
Brittney gave him a piece of paper containing the address of the restaurant he was going to.
"This is the address. Remember to call me if you get lost."
When Daven left, Brittney suddenly felt a bit panicked at the thought that he might get lost and get hurt in this dangerous city.
She took a breath and calmed herself down before going upstairs to get ready for work.
Without wasting any time, Daven stopped a cab and gave the driver the address.
After he was dropped off in front of a big restaurant, he slowly took in his surroundings with no expression on his face. No one knew what he was thinking.
Although it was still early in the morning, people were already walking up and down the streets, busy with various things.
"Meals for any occasion."
He slowly read out the big, bold words placed in front of the restaurant.
He checked the time on his watch.
"Ten minutes left. I'm very early."
He reluctantly walked inside.
As he walked in, the few people who were there talking to one another stopped and stared at him, each with a different reaction on their faces.
"Oh! So you really came back..."
A female employee wearing a uniform came up to him and hugged him.
"Welcome back, Little Dave."
Should he push her away or let her keep hugging him?
What was the old Daven going to do in this situation?
Daven was at a loss, as he really didn't know what to do. He was afraid that if he pushed her away, they would suspect something was wrong and eventually realise that he might have lost his memory.
But he didn't feel comfortable with this woman hugging him. Still, he endured it for his own sake.
Then another female employee, followed by a male who was probably around his age, came forward.
"Dave! What a lovely surprise to have you back! You got us all worried about you."
The female who had been hugging him let go and looked at him with a beautiful smile.
Seeing her smile, Daven murmured in his heart,
'Oh, why did you not become the one I met and married?'
Compared to Brittney's smile, hers was much more beautiful.
Before he could say anything, a muscular male suddenly walked in from the back.
"What's up with all the commotion in here? Why aren't you guys working yet?"
Daven could only assume that he was either the boss or the employee who always acted like a boss and bullied others.
"Amir! Little Davie is back. Can't you at least greet him?"
Leticia, the female employee with the beautiful smile, looked at Amir, who thought he was in charge, with a scolding look.
Immediately, Amir's face turned into a smirk.
"Is that so?"
He walked towards Daven, and the closer he got, the more evil his smile became.
"Oh, little brother Davie, you really are back."
Daven wasn't moved by this person's attitude and was sure he was familiar with his character. He could already tell what kind of personality he had from the way he spoke, and a slow resentment began to grow inside him.
Amir offered him a handshake.
As Daven saw the huge hand, he knew that he was about to get crushed.
He accepted it anyway.
The moment their hands touched, the room temperature seemed to instantly drop to zero.
