Two; Surprise

*Alpha Jaxon’s POV* I hung up the phone on Morgan and sat in disbelief in my office. She must be mistaken, the woman she has seen cannot be Avianna, my Avianna. It has been almost 18 years since I heard the gut wrenching news on the television. I was praying this day would come. Finally, the Moon Goddess has answered my prayers. My wolf, Hunter, was restless within my mind, pacing up and down relentlessly after hearing the words we have been longing to hear for years. “When are we going Jax?! I want to see her, I NEED to see her!” He howled. “Patience Hunter, all good things come to those who wait. Fortunately for us, we don’t have to wait too long. Morgan will text when she’s with her. Not long now.” “Mom, Dad, Mikey, Xavier, we have a situation. Come to my office immediately please.” I mindlinked my parents, and my best friends who also happened to be my Beta and Gamma of The Golden River Pack. They were non identical twins, we had all grown up together from babies and always had each others backs. I made them my beta and gamma without question 8 years ago, when I became Alpha at age 18. There was a long standing rule that we had to have found our mates before being passed the Alpha title. My father waived this rule as he deemed it necessary at the time for me to take over, due to an unfortunate turn of events. We run a strong, tight knit pack where everyone is family and we all look after our own. The only thing that is missing is a Luna, my Luna. A swift knock at the door pulls me from my thoughts. The door swings open, revealing Mikey and Xavier with concerned looks on their faces, followed by my parents who look just as concerned. “Everything alright Jax?” Mikey asked with his brows furrowed. “Yeah, you good Jaxon? What’s with the urgency, brother?” Xavier followed. “What’s up son?” My father also asks. My Mom just continues to look at me, her expression I am unable to decipher. She likes to remind me that she knows me better than I know myself, at times I think she’s right. “Sit down please, all of you. I have some good news,” I said, whilst gesturing to the chairs in front of me. My parents took a seat in front of my desk, with Mikey and Xavier stood to the side of each chair. They all waited patiently for me to tell them what was going on. “I received a call from Morgan not long ago, she thinks she has found her…she has found Avianna.” It took a few seconds for all of them to register what I was telling them. The moment it did, each of their expressions changed to one’s of shock and their mouths dropped open. “Are you serious, Jax?!” Mikey shouted, standing to his feet. “Well, I did not expect to hear this when I woke up this morning,” Xavier scrubbed his face with his hands in disbelief, then looked at me with a smile that reached his eyes. My Mom and Dad were yet to speak. My Dad stood there with wide eyes and was opening and closing his mouth as if he wanted to say something, but didn’t know what. My Mom’s eyes were filled with tears and she was smiling at me with hope. “Yes, I am serious. At least, this is what Morgan has told me. I will fully believe it is her when I lay my eyes on her. Looks like the witch’s premonition may have been correct after all”, I murmured. I thought back to that day, 6 years ago when I had gone to try and obtain some information from a powerful, good witch by the name of Violet. -FLASHBACK- “So, Jaxon, your father tells me that you would like to see if I can give you any information on the whereabouts of your dear Luna?” She smiles, the moonlight reflecting off of her mane of platinum blonde hair. “Yes if you can, please; something, anything at this point. I have known she is out there somewhere for the past 18 years and I am desperate to find her and bring her home, to me,” I replied eagerly. “Ok Jaxon, hold both of my hands, close your eyes, take a few deep breaths and clear your mind.” I did as she asked and sat silently, my hands in both of hers and tried to clear my mind of all thoughts. After a minute or so, she jerked in her chair and quickly let go of my hands. I snapped my eyes open, wondering what had happened and was met with her bright, glowing, violet eyes. It was like they were staring straight into my soul. “Your Luna will come,” she said slowly, “I cannot tell you exactly when, but when she does, you have to be patient with her. If she does not accept you or the life she is destined to live, chaos will ensue and lives will be lost. For there is another who seeks her, but with an ulterior motive. You cannot allow this to happen, so patience and understanding are key to avoid this scenario. Do you understand?” She asked me. I was unsure whether to believe what she had said to me or not, I was out of options though. I had to hold onto the small piece of hope I had left that she would find her way back to me or I would find her first. So, for now, I’ll have to trust the witch knows what’s she’s talking about and she isn’t just crazy. “Yes, I understand. Thank you for your time, maybe we will meet again in the future,” I said to her. “Yes, I’ve got a feeling we just might,” she smirked back. -END OF FLASHBACK- “So, what are we doing sitting here?!” Mikey jumped to his feet and ran towards the door. “Let’s go get our Luna!” “Mikey! Wait!” I shouted at him, causing him to stop and turn back around to face me. “You remember what the witch said, right? Patience, Mikey. We’ll be seeing her soon. For now, go and get ready - we’ve got a club to get to. You never know, maybe both of you will finally find your mates…or mate. Not sure how that will go though if either of you has to share!” I laughed heartily. They both scowled in my direction at the mention of them sharing a mate and my Mother chuckled. Being multiples, there was a high chance they will both end up with the same mate and that would not go down well, especially with Mikey. I chuckled to myself at the thought and I caught Xavier rolling his eyes in my peripheral vision. “Both of you, go get ready! We’re awaiting contact from Morgan, then it’s all hands on deck,” I told them. They both made their way to the door and closed it behind them. I let out a sigh and looked back to my Mom and Dad. My Dad still hadn’t said a word but his eyes were now also glistening with unshed tears. “Dad? Do you think it’s really her?” I ask him, my voice full of hope. He looks me in the eyes and half shrugs his shoulders. “There’s only one way to find out, son. For the record, I do have a feeling it is, but try not to get your hopes up too much. A long time has passed and Morgan may be mistaken,” he says earnestly. I nod my head to him and my mother comes round my desk and gives me a hug. “Good luck, Jax,” she whispers with a smile. With that, she walks towards my father and links her arm with his. They leave my office and I start to pack up my things. I’d better go and get ready myself, I thought. First impressions are everything…although this is not my first time meeting Avianna. *Avianna’s POV* I look at the clock, 6.55pm. I nervously check out my appearance again in my full length mirror. I had a red strapless, floor length dress on. The huge slit up one of my legs showed off my favourite, gold sparkly heels. I had curled my waist length, brunette hair and put a few small braids in the top to keep it off my face. Finished off with my favourite gold necklace and some light make up to accentuate my brown eyes, I was ready to go. Well, ready as I’ll ever be. At exactly 7pm, my phone pinged with a message. ‘Hey! I’m outside! Come down, let’s get going!’ I was half surprised Morgan had even shown up. I was worried she was just being polite to me earlier as I was new to the area. A part of me thought she would definitely stand me up, but I guess I was wrong. I’ll have to stop assuming all people are the same as others I have encountered in the past, I guess. I grabbed my gold, sparkly clutch and made my way down to the street. As I stepped outside, a white limousine was sat there, casually waiting next to the pavement, with a chauffeur stood to the side. What on earth?! There must be a celebrity nearby, I thought. A few seconds later, the chauffeur moved to open the back door of the limousine and out stepped Morgan looking stunning in a backless, black dress with a long slit up her thigh. Her long, auburn hair was poker straight and she was wearing 6 inch black Louboutin heels. Well, now I definitely felt more nervous and maybe slightly underdressed. “Wow Avianna, you look gorgeous honey! Let’s get going, it’s already past 7 and it will be getting busy!” She called to me. I started to walk towards the limo and when I reached the open door, I peered inside first with curiosity. “You look unreal!” I exclaimed. “This is amazing Morgan! How on earth did you pull this off on such short notice?!” I was amazed at the interior of the limo and the amount of space it had. I tried to slide gracefully into the backseat, but being graceful has never been one of my strong points. I clumsily fell into the limo and almost slid right onto the floor. Thankfully, I saved myself at the last second by gripping the bottom of the seat and pulling myself upright. “My father owns a limousine company. Are you sure you’ve not had a drink already?” Morgan giggled. Wow, so this was her Dad’s limo. I let out a small laugh in return and lowered my head to avoid her gaze. “No I haven’t, but maybe I should have, then I wouldn’t feel as embarrassed as I do now,” I replied with my cheeks burning. “Well we can fix that right now! Don’t be embarrassed! It happens to the best of us,” she smiled. “I’ve seen a lot worse so don’t even worry about it!” Morgan popped open a bottle that was in a mini fridge to the side and grabbed two champagne glasses. She poured them both to the brim and handed me one. “To new beginnings, new friendships and getting absolutely wasted!” Morgan squealed. I clinked my glass against hers and took a small sip of the bubbles, feeling them go down my throat and slightly back up into my nose. It was a strange feeling as I don’t think I’d ever drank champagne before. I was thankful she was being so kind to me. I felt myself relax and become more comfortable in her presence, even though I had only known her for less than a day. Somehow, it felt a lot longer. The ride we took was a short one and Morgan took her phone out just as we arrived to take a selfie of us both together. “Before we don’t look as good as we do now,” Morgan giggled, while snapping a few photos. I wasn’t one for selfies really, but I was going to try and have some fun, so I smiled for the pictures with my new friend. “Come on Avianna, let’s go! There are drinks to drink and dances to dance!” Morgan said to me excitedly. “Okay, let’s go!” I replied, downing the rest of my champagne. I could already feel the buzz from the alcohol. I hope I don’t make a fool out of myself…
