Five; Crazy

*Avianna’s POV* I was in utter shock at the sight before me. Morgan, with her slender 5”7 frame, had just literally thrown a huge man across the entire dance floor and sent him smashing into a glass table. What the actual f*ck is going on!? All of the panic I felt earlier from the sleazy bloke being forceful with me has dissipated rapidly. Instead, the adrenaline starts pumping through my body and I want answers. Right now. I’m stood expectantly, waiting for a response from Morgan as to how the hell she just did that and how this man, no, this exceptionally gorgeous man, knows what my name is. He really is an absolute god. I’ve never seen a male specimen as fine as this one stood right in front of me. His jet black hair is sharply cut around the sides and longer on top. It looks so silky and inviting that I find myself thinking how I’d love to grab hold of it and run my fingers through it…well, if I could even reach. He must be at least 6”4, towering over my 5”7 frame. His body is broad and muscular - he must work out a hell of a lot to be in such good shape. I can see each perfectly defined muscle through his fitted, black polo top. I daren’t look any lower as my mouth is already watering at the sight. I could feel the moisture pooling between my thighs and my core tightening at the thought of his…damn. His emerald green eyes are an exact match of Morgan’s and his perfectly chiseled facial features make him the most gorgeous man I have ever laid eyes on. His lips are plump and look so soft. How I’d love to feel those lips all over me. Oh, stop it! I internally scold myself. This doesn’t excuse how he knows who I am. I’ve never even seen him before, but, that niggling feeling that I recognise him stirs once more in my mind. I don’t miss the quick side glances Morgan and him give each other and I swear their eyes went really weird for a couple of seconds…it must have been the lighting playing tricks on my vision. “Well?? Is someone going to explain to me what the hell is going on!” I surprise myself with my boldness. This isn’t like me. It must be the alcohol talking. “Listen, Avi…could we go somewhere a bit more private, people are staring,” Morgan mutters, her eyes scanning the many faces eagerly watching our not-so-private conversation. I notice the mystery male is yet to utter a word since he blurted out my name. But he still can’t tear his gaze away from me either. What is with him?! “Ok,” I sigh. “Lead the way.” Morgan nods her head towards him and he finally speaks. “This way,” he murmurs, pointing his hand in the direction of a door in the far corner. “We can use my office.” His office?! Oh god, have I just made a complete fool of myself acting the way I have!? Arm still outstretched, he waits for me to start moving ahead. As I’m passing by him, he lowers his arm and lightly brushes my exposed back. A static-like shock tingles my skin at the contact site. I feel so overwhelmed with the situation that I spin around to directly face him. “Did you just touch my back?!” I demand. “Accidentally,” He assured me. “I apologise.” A look of surprise crossing his perfect features. “Have you never heard of ‘personal space’!?” I had literally just had a creep all over me, albeit the shock being gone, I really needed a bit of room. He doesn’t reply, just stares at me with his eyes wide, as if he can’t believe what I just said. He abruptly carries on walking towards the door, opens it and goes in. Well, that was rude. I move towards Morgan who is already waiting for me by the door, she shoots me a small apologetic smile. As I enter, I spot two other men already inside, stood towards the back of the room. They were also tall, muscular and extremely handsome. Almost as handsome as the mystery man. Almost. Morgan enters last and shuts and locks the door behind us. She moves to sit in one of the plush chairs located in front of the large, black glossy desk. I continue to stand by the door, eager to find out what the hell everyone’s deal is. Nobody speaks so I decide to take the lead on the situation. “First of all,” I direct my gaze towards the beautiful man who is leaning against the side of his desk with his arms folded across his broad chest. “Please tell me your name so I actually know who I’m speaking to. Next, tell me how you know Morgan. Lastly, tell me how you know my name.” He shifts uncomfortably in place but continues to meet my gaze unwaveringly. “My name is Jaxon Adams. I’ve known Morgan my whole life because she is my sister,” he pauses as if thinking how to respond to my last question. “How do you know my name?” I repeat impatiently. “…well, Morgan told me.” He murmurs, unconvincingly might I add. I raise my brow and continue to stare at him, waiting for the truth. “Jaxon, just tell her the truth damn it!” Morgan pipes up. I look at her in disbelief. It seems like I’m the ONLY one who doesn’t know what’s going on here. I glance towards the two burly men stood at the back of the room, but they avert their gazes, looking straight ahead. I turn my attention back to Jaxon and wait once more for him to tell me the truth about how he knows my name. “Well? Jaxon?” Emphasising his name as I speak. “Ok, the truth is,” he pauses and sighs. “I’ve known you my whole life too, Avianna. You just don’t remember me.” He speaks the second part so quickly that I almost didn’t catch what he said. For a few beats, I am speechless. He’s known me my whole life? This is ridiculous. There’s no way. I’m not even from here! Words fail me. Instead, I find myself not being able to hold it back and I burst out laughing. I literally cannot control myself. I must look manic, tears gathering in my eyes as I try to catch my breath. Finally, I manage to compose myself long enough to wheeze out, “You’re crazy! That’s impossible! I’ve never even seen you before, ever!” All of the serious faces staring back at me, tells me that he isn’t joking. “Is this some sort of joke?!” I raise my voice slightly, becoming increasingly frustrated with the events unfolding in front of me. I shift my eyes to Morgan and she shakes her head slowly and then averts her gaze sheepishly down towards the floor. I’m definitely not laughing anymore. I lock eyes with Jaxon who is gazing right back at me with, what the…why are his eyes black?! I start to feel panic rising within my gut. Nausea hits me instantly. This can’t be happening. I must be dreaming, this can’t be real. It’s not possible. “Umm, wh-why are your eyes b-bl-black?” I manage to stutter out. Immediately, his eyes return to their normal emerald green colour and I turn to eye the door. I will my feet to move so I can escape this room of insane people, but I am rooted to the spot in panic. “Please don’t worry, Luna. We would never hurt you,” a deep voice echos out. Luna?! What on gods green earth does that mean?! They would never hurt me? Oh god, what on earth have I gotten myself into?! I close my eyes and take a few slow, deep breaths to try and calm myself down. The voice that spoke didn’t sound threatening…a little intimidating yes, but threatening, no. I compose myself, slowly turn and focus on the huge men standing towards the back of the room. One of them moves slightly forward, as if letting me know it was him who had spoken. He was almost as tall and broad as Jaxon, with dirty blonde hair and brilliantly blue eyes. He gave me a reassuring smile and continued to speak, “I’m Mikey, Jaxon’s be…erm best friend. I slowly nod my head and try to process everything happening around me, but one question in particular is niggling my mind. “Why did you call me ‘Luna’? What does that even mean?” “Ermm…” clearing his throat, he glances at Jaxon still stood in the same position and still staring at me. “Ok, it seems like everyone would like you to give me all of the answers I want, Jaxon. So, why did Mikey just call me Luna?” I ask impatiently. “Ok…just please, don’t freak out,” he says, sounding a bit unsure. “How can you tell me not to freak out?! Obviously I will now that you have told me not to!” I shout. “Maybe you should take a seat,” he mutters. “No thanks, I’m fine here,” I reply defiantly, crossing my arms over my chest. Jaxon takes a deep breath and starts to speak. “We are what you call werewolves, shifters. We have another part of ourselves that is a werewolf spirit. Intertwined with ours, able to communicate within our minds and with other wolves. We can also shift, or transform, into them.” I felt the blood drain from my face and I zoned out after hearing the word ‘werewolves’. All I could see was his mouth moving but couldn’t register the words he was saying. Silence hung in the air for a few minutes. “I-I-I’m leaving now,” I choked out, breaking the silence in the room. I went to turn towards the door to unlock it but stumbled. A pair of strong, muscular arms grabbed hold of me before I could hit the floor, the electric shocks on my skin from the contact, just as before. I could feel a panic attack coming, my breathing becoming erratic and I felt like I was going to throw up everywhere. No, this can’t be happening, not now! Pull yourself together Avianna! The next moment, black spots were appearing in front of my vision and I couldn’t focus or register the words floating around me. I struggled to keep my eyes open, they suddenly felt extremely heavy. Then, everything went black… *Alpha Jaxon’s POV* Avianna had disappeared from my view as she weaved through the sea of dancers. “Mate! Go and find her Jax so I can woo her on the dance floor!” Hunter said excitedly, tail wagging and doing some form of four step on his huge paws. “No, just a bit longer,” I reply sternly. “There’s only so long I am willing to wait Jax. I’ve been waiting for 8 years to find our mate. Why must you be so stubborn!” He glared at me in my mind. Silly mutt. “I heard that!” I roll my eyes at our interaction. Goddess knows I am just as desperate to finally claim our mate as he is, but I need to do this right. I might only get one chance as she clearly doesn’t feel any pull towards me right now. She may not even know of our kind, I have no idea where she has been for the past 18 years. Finally, I spot her coming back to the front of the dance floor. Seconds later, a man approaches her and starts a conversation. Avianna looks slightly uncomfortable with the man’s presence, so I go into alert mode. The stranger grabs her hand and attempts to pull her onto the dance floor. Avianna pulls her hand back quickly and tries to move away. Hunter growls menacingly within my mind, teeth bared. “He dare to put his filthy hands on my mate!” Moments later, the man drags her towards him and locks his arms around her. She is clearly struggling to break free. I stand from my seat, rage coursing through me and rush towards where they are using my werewolf speed. I can feel my teeth elongating and my eyes are black as night as Hunter comes forward, eager to sink his teeth into this b*stards throat. I wasn’t fast enough though. A second later, Morgan yanks the man away from Avianna and throws him across the entire floor, smashing a glass table at the end point. She probably did me a favour. I would have ripped him to pieces in front of the entire club. That definitely wouldn’t have been good. I reach Avianna and Morgan and I feel Mikey and Xavier stop abruptly behind me. I look between them both, waiting for someone to explain what had just happened with that a*sehole. In the next moment, I blurt out, “Avianna, are you ok? That man didn’t hurt you did he?” Sh*t. I forgot, she doesn’t know that I know her name. Hopefully she didn’t notice my error. Avianna looks at me; eyes wide as if in shock…oh, she noticed. I was too busy cursing myself internally to pay attention to what was being said, but I notice the way Avianna is looking at me and out of nowhere, I smell the enticing scent of her arousal in the air. F*ck she smells so sweet. Hunter is strutting around in my mind, nose up in the air and exaggeratively sniffing his surroundings. I can’t stop staring at her. She is utter perfection. I notice in my peripheral vision that Morgan is staring at me pointedly. “She wants to go somewhere more private!” She quickly mindlinks me. I pull myself out of my tunnel vision and quickly say that we can use my office. As Avianna is walking past me, I cannot resist anymore and drop my hand down to touch the inviting, exposed skin on her back. Sparks shoot up my fingertips and spread throughout my whole body. Relief courses through me as I realise that the bond is definitely present, on my part at least. Hunter is howling in my mind with joy at finally feeling part of the mate bond. My heart rate speeds up exponentially and my d**k springs to attention. Avianna doesn’t seem to be too happy about it though as she calls me out. I apologise and in surprise, rush past her towards the door of my office. She does feel it! It may only be weak, but it’s there. Mikey and Xavier are already stood at the back of the room when I enter. “You okay Jax?” Mikey mindlinks me. I just give him a sharp nod of my head and stand leaning against the edge of my desk, nervousness filling my gut as this might finally be the time I can claim Avianna as my mate, my Luna. The next few minutes feel like a lifetime. Hunter pushed himself forward at one point and unfortunately, Avianna started panicking when she noticed my eyes had turned black and turns away quickly, eyeing the door in front of her. I push Hunter to the back of my min, returning my eyes to their normal colour. I hear Mikey’s voice and the word ‘Luna’ and I curse internally. I quickly mindlinked him. “F*ck Mikey! Why did you call her Luna?!” I can see Avianna trying to control her breathing. Mikey quickly mindlinks me back, “Sorry Jax. It just slipped out.” I roll my eyes in return at him. In her next breath, Avianna demands to know why Mikey called her ‘Luna’. I take a deep breath myself and start to explain. As soon as I utter the word ‘werewolves’, the colour drains from her face. When I’ve finished speaking, the room is silent for a few minutes and the tension is palpable. She turns to leave and stumbles. I get to her in a second flat and catch her before she hits the ground, sparks flying through me at our contact. Avianna starts breathing erratically and in the next moment, her eyes roll to the back of her head and she goes limp in my arms. “Sh*t! She’s passed out!” I shout out. Everyone rushes over to me and bends down to look at her. “She’ll be alright Jax. She was overwhelmed and she’s had a rough night already with that a*sehole all over her,” Morgan says reassuringly. “What shall we do with her?” Xavier asks me, his eyes full of concern. “We could take her back to the packhouse?” Mikey adds. “Or, we could just take her home!” Morgan says pointedly. I mull over the options we have and what would be the best thing to do. I really don’t want to leave her, not after I’ve finally found her. I never want to let her go. But maybe she’s been through enough for one night? She’ll need time to process everything I’ve told her and hopefully she can come to terms with it. There is so much more she needs to know, though. I stand up, cradling her in my arms and unlock the door. Walking out, I look to the security who has appeared outside of my office. “The offending male has been removed and banned for life from the club, sir. He was also given a little taster of what he will receive if he so much as looks at this place again,” he tells me quickly, head bowed down in respect. “Good. We’re leaving now,” I tell him. He nods curtly to me and turns, leading us to the elevator. We exit the club via the back entry and head straight for my black SUV parked up. Mikey climbs in the drivers seat, Xavier in the passenger and Morgan and I into the back, still holding a passed out Avianna tightly in my arms. Mikey looks at me in the rear view mirror expectantly. I look down at the beautiful woman in my arms which confirms my decision. “To the packhouse”…
