"Stay here, I'll be back." He command.
The command was sharp.
Unarguable.
Isabella's head snapped up. "Leonard, wait—"
But he was already moving.
"No," she said, stepping forward quickly. "You're not going alone."
He stopped.
Slowly turned.
And the look in his eyes...
"This isn't your fight."
"It is if I'm the one she's trying to destroy." She said gracefully.
Silence followed
For a brief moment, something flickered in his expression.
Not anger, not control.
Something deeper.
Then—
He walked back to her.
Before she could react, his hand wrapped around her wrist—firm, pulling her closer.
"Then don't leave my side."
Her breath caught.
"Not even for a second."
Something about the way he said it. . .Wasn't just a warning.
It was a promise.
Minutes later—
The tension in the mansion had changed.
It wasn't quiet anymore, it's was waiting.
Leonard didn't go far.
Because Victoria hadn't left.
She was exactly where they expected her to be.
Standing in the grand living room.
Like she had been waiting for this moment.
"Well," she said, her eyes landing on them, "that didn't take long."
Leonard didn't waste time.
"You set her up." No greeting, no hesitation.
Just accusation.
Victoria tilted her head slightly.
"I don't know what you're talking about."
"Don't lie to me."
His voice dropped, Threatening.
"The surveillance. The reports. The plan to get rid of her."
For the first time—
Victoria's expression shifted just slightly.
Then she smiled.
"So you found it."
Isabella's stomach dropped.
"You're not even denying it?" she asked.
Victoria's gaze moved to her, cold, unapologetic.
"Why should I?" she said simply.
The room went still.
"She doesn't belong here," Victoria continued. "She never did."
Leonard stepped forward.
Danger radiating from every step.
"And you think you do?"
Victoria met his gaze without fear.
"I was always the better choice."
His jaw tightened.
"You don't get to decide that."
She laughed softly.
"No... but you used to."
That hit hard
For a second—Silence returned.
Then—
Victoria's eyes darkened.
"You don't remember," she said, her voice dropping, "but you were the one who wanted her gone first."
Isabella froze.
"What?" she whispered.
Leonard didn't move.
But something inside him shifted.
"You said she was a problem," Victoria continued. "A liability. You wanted her out of your life."
"That's enough," Leonard said sharply.
But Victoria wasn't done.
"You just didn't have the courage to finish it," she added coldly. "So I decided to help."
The words sliced through the room.
Isabella felt like the ground beneath her had disappeared.
Slowly... She stepped back.
Leonard noticed instantly.
"Isabella—"
"Is it true?" she asked, her voice shaking.
He didn't answer immediately.
And that silence—
Was louder than anything else.
Her chest tightened painfully.
"I see," she whispered.
Before he could stop her—
She turned and ran away
"Isabella!"
Leonard moved instantly.
But—
Victoria stepped in front of him.
"You don't get to chase her now," she said quietly.
That was her mistake.
Because the next second—Leonard grabbed her arm hard.
The entire room froze.
His eyes were no longer calm.
No longer controlled.
They were furious.
"If anything happens to her..." he said slowly, his voice deadly quiet, "...you won't be walking out of this house."
Victoria's breath caught.
For the first time— She looked shaken.
Leonard released her instantly.
Like she was nothing.
Then turned—
And went after Isabella.
Outside—
The night air was cold.
Isabella ran blindly—Her vision blurred with tears.
But she didn't see it.
Didn't hear it.
Until—
Headlights flashed toward her at full speed.
