Chapter 8: His obsession

730 Words
The room was quiet again.Too quiet. Isabella could still feel the warmth of Leonard's hand against her cheek, his thumb brushing lightly across her skin as if memorizing her. "Anything that makes it look like you'll leave..." His words echoed in her mind. Her heart wouldn't calm down. "I'm not going anywhere," she said softly, though she wasn't sure if she was reassuring him... or herself. Leonard's eyes locked onto hers. "Good." The single word felt like a promise. Or a warning. A knock came at the door, followed by a nurse stepping in carefully. "Mr. DeLuca, we need to run a few more tests, and your wife should—" "She stays." The interruption was immediate and final. The nurse hesitated. "Sir, hospital policy—" "I don't care about policy." His voice dropped dangerously low. "She's not leaving this room." Isabella blinked in surprise. "Leonard, it's okay," she said gently. "I can step out for a few minutes—" "No. . . "His grip on her hand tightened instantly. His gaze darkened. "Why do you keep trying to leave?" "I'm not trying to leave, I just—" "You said you wouldn't." The accusation in his voice caught her off guard. The nurse shifted awkwardly. "Sir, we'll just—come back later." And just like that, she left. Silence returned. But now, it was heavier, More intense. Isabella slowly turned back to Leonard. "You can't just order people around like that," she said quietly. A faint smirk touched his lips. "Watch me." Her breath caught. There it was again that power, that control. Except now... It was focused entirely on her. "I don't like sharing what's mine," he added. The words sent a shiver down her spine. "What's yours?" she asked softly. His gaze darkened, dropping to her lips before returning to her eyes. "You." He replied Her heart skipped violently. This was moving too fast, too intense. But she couldn't deny the way her body reacted to him. Before she could respond, the door opened again—but this time, it wasn't a nurse. Two men in black suits stepped in, followed by a well-dressed older man. "Mr. DeLuca," the older man said respectfully. "Security has been increased as you requested." Isabella blinked. Security? She whispered Leonard didn't even look surprised. "Good," he said calmly. "No one comes in here without my permission." The man nodded. "Understood." Isabella stared at him. "You called security?" Leonard looked at her. "Yes." "Why?" She asked. His expression didn't change. "To make sure no one takes you away from me." Her breath caught. "That's not necessary—" "It is." He reached for her again, pulling her closer until she was standing between his legs, trapped in his space. "I don't trust people I don't remember," he said quietly. A pause. "Especially the ones who claim they know me." Her chest tightened. "Victoria..." "Yes," he said coldly. "Especially her." The air shifted again, more closer and warmer Warmer. His hand slid from her wrist to her waist, holding her there. Firm.Possessive. "Leonard..." her voice softened. He looked up at her and this time... There was no hesitation. His hand moved to the back of her neck, pulling her down gently. Her breath caught. "Tell me to stop," he murmured again. But his eyes said the opposite. Isabella's heart raced. She should stop this, she should pull away, she should tell him the truth. But she didn't. And that was all he needed. His lips crashed softly—but firmly—against hers. The world stopped. It wasn't gentle, it wasn't hesitant, it was consuming. Like he had been waiting for this moment without even knowing it. Isabella froze for half a second... Then melted. Her hands gripped his shirt as the kiss deepened, her heart pounding wildly against her chest. Everything felt wrong but at the same time... It felt like something she had been waiting for. When he finally pulled back, their breaths were uneven, their foreheads almost touching. Leonard's eyes were darker now, deeper and Possessive. "Now I know," he whispered. Her voice trembled. "Know what?" His thumb brushed against her lips. "That I don't want anyone else touching you." Isabella's heart dropped. Because she realized something terrifying. This wasn't just attraction. This wasn't just curiosity. Leonard wasn't just falling for her—He was starting to own her.
