LOST TRUSTJamie pulled away from Angelo, who gave her an awkward smile as she rushed to her phone lying on the coffee table. The display showed it was Gregory, and she wondered if he was calling about her mother’s condition. Tapping on her phone, she held her breath. “Gregory. Is everything alright?”
“Hello, Jamie. I visited your father today and he’s in a bad way. I get the feeling that whoever set him up with these murders has someone on the inside, threatening him.”
Jamie flinched, aware of Angelo’s eyes on her. In spite of her concern for her father, she could still feel his strong lips on hers, and sensed her cheeks blushing. She looked away. “Why are they threatening him, and how?”
