The FortressThe following morning Oskar met Werner in the hall. They had to leave urgently for Mundenreich, where Blaga's isolated home was located. Claus Werner and Oskar Zerbi left the Residence in a black sedan driven by a uniformed driver.
Oskar had always moved on the Sierra through the Circuit's network, going from one peak to the next, so it seemed strange using a car at that juncture. They travelled for several hours, slipping at low speed on the valley floor's icy roads. Traffic was almost non-existent, a few lone travellers and slow moving carts. They met fog as the car started climbing along a dirt road full of hairpin bends. Werner raised his finger upwards, to signify they still had to go upwards.
