Present day
The picture of having s*x with Amber for the first time was flashing before his eyes. Chris was alone in his bedroom as he tried to sketch on his canvas. He did not know why these days he remembered about Amber a lot, probably it was all because Caelan kept asking him, his mother and sister about his own mother.
It happened a day before Chris admitted she was his girl at school. He invited her to his house when he was alone, his mother and sister went to Auckland to visit their colleague and Chris pretended to be sick as an excuse not to come with them.
It was him who made a move first, he attacked her by hugging her from behind. She was helping him to tidy things up in his house. When she was wiping the window, he kissed her neck before going to her lips. He thought she would hit him hard but she replied him back. Their kiss became very heated, Chris could not even recall when their kiss was very passionate just like this.
He was on his knees, his head went under her white shirt, his hands were pulling down her jeans and panties. She giggled when he was kissing her stomach, Chris's hands held the hem of her shirt and pulled it up until her body was exposed in front of him.
He unclasped her black bra, biting his bottom lip because it was the first time for him to see a scenery like this in his life. She was shy in front of him, crossing her hands in front of her chest to cover her private part.
Chris took off his shirt and threw it away, his hands brought her head up to look at him and he put a soft kiss on her lips. He took off his trousers, bringing her to the couch.
They both did it there until night came and Amber slept over in his house that day. It was their first time and he guessed it was the last time too that they got very intimate like that.
Chris was looking at his picture with his son in his room, he never thought that it would be like this. Raising his son alone without Amber by his side was a big deal for him. It was unexpected that she would really leave him, especially Caelan.
10 Years Ago
Amber arrived at home after school, she prepared meals for her mother who was sick. It had been a month since her mother was diagnosed that she had blood cancer. Her father was busy maintaining their financial for her mother's treatment, he owed money everywhere even to a loan shark.
She heard a knock on the door when she was feeding her mother. She excused herself, putting down the plate on the desk beside the bed. Amber went to open the door and she saw a man and a woman right in front of her.
"Hi, good evening." The man greeted.
"Good evening." She replied back.
"You must be Amber, right? Is your father here?" The man said again.
"He's not here. Pardon, who are you?" She asked both of them.
"We're your father's friends, we're here to help." The woman gave her the answer.
Amber gestured them both to go inside the house, she made two cups of tea for them both and accompanied them. She was fidgeting in her seat, feeling uncomfortable in front of them.
"Your father has debt and your mother is sick. His business is almost bankrupt. You know that, right?" The man told her about this problem and she nodded, she knew everything and this had made her sad for this past three months.
"We're here to overcome this situation. We need to talk to your father." The woman added her husband.
"He'll be here in a minute."

...
"Amber!"
Her father swung the door and he saw his colleagues sat on the sofa with his daughter. He approached them slowly.
"Dad." She stood up.
"David, long time no see." The man stood up and greeted him.
David held his daughter's hand and had her go upstairs, "Go, I'll talk to them." She nodded and she went upstairs, eavesdropping what they were talking about.
"Hey, I didn't know you guys were here." David was confused.
"We heard the news and we want you to consider our offer." The woman told him.
"We want you to join Jiang’s company. We're gonna help you to get through this together." Mr. Jiang asked him. "But with one condition."
"Guys, thank you but I think--"
"You think you can overcome this alone? Look at your wife! She is sick, she needs better treatment." Mrs. Jiang tried to realize him.
"And Amber, smart girl, you wasted her!"
"David, just come with us. We promised when we were kids that we would marry our children together, right? We can be family too. We can guarantee your daughter's future, besides, Lucas almost graduates from college, he can help her studying in America." Mr. Jiang said to him.
"Yes, he's right, besides, you can go back home to New York with Amber." Mrs. Jiang added.
"Leave Shanghai, come with us to America."
"Guys, I don't know I should be thankful or not.." He almost cried, his friends wanted to help him, if he accepted it, he should move from this country and try to build his reputation from zero again. All they wanted actually his daughter, they wanted a daughter from the very beginning but never happened.
Amber's heart was racing, she couldn't believe that he agreed to it. It meant she should marry Mr. and Mrs. Jiang's son to help her father getting out of his debt and so that her mother could get a better treatment in America. She should leave her friends and especially Chris.
Her hand moved to her stomach, her child with Chris was in there. She didn't tell anybody yet, it was only her who knew about this.
