Chapter 10

872 Words
It was almost time for Aden to get off work, and Creed was pressuring him to go home, but he wanted to stay and hang out with Jo more.  He would have small conversations with her throughout his shift, making her laugh and getting to know how she was just a bit different from the other Terrells' he kept hearing about.  He didn't want the time to end, and she secretly didn't want it to end either, so Aden knew exactly where to take her when it got a bit darker outside, "Hey," he said, finishing up with the rest of the dishes, "I have somewhere we could go if you want.  It's nothing like this place which is the best place in the city, but it's a place you can get some more of that small freedom you keep talking about."     Jo ran the thought over in her mind before giving him a nod of yes.  Creed, on the other hand, pulled Aden to the side and whispered a harsh warning, "Are you going crazy?  Do you realize what you're doing right now?  You're fraternizing with the enemy is what you're doing."     "Oh, come on, Creed gets real.  She doesn't seem like the rest of them."     "Looks can be deceiving. You know that, and the council will be here in a few days.  She is a hunter, she is trained at a young age to hunt us, and you're going to hang out with her."     "What is with you, man?  You normally don't go against me as hard as you're doing now.  What's the problem?"       Creed bit his tongue for fear of saying what he really wanted to say.  He knew that when Aden got interested in something, he would do it regardless of what anyone would tell him.  Now wasn't the time to tell Aden what he really wanted to say, "Whatever, man...I want you to be careful.  You think you're doing this because you need more information on what's going on, and I think you like that girl.  I have never seen you look at anyone the way you look at her.  She can't be your mate, my friend.  She is a human and a hunter, and she would sure cut your balls off the moment your back is turned.  I know what I'm saying."     Aden looked back at Jo, who was busy playing some pool with some of the guys.  She had a large smile on her face, and he just realized this was the first time since he saw her that she actually looked like a regular teenager having some fun.  He wanted to see more of her smile, and Creed might be right. This might be his way of falling for her.  But he thinks she's falling for him too, "I'm going to be okay, Creed," he said as he hung up his work apron, "I know what I'm doing.  Go home and tell my mom I'm doing some overtime or something."     Aden walked over to Jo, and they both made eye contact to leave.  Walking out into the evening, the air still had a heavy chill, but the warmth the two felt in their chest was warmer.  Aden looked at the bike she rode thereon, and he gawked in amazement.     "You really rode this?  I'm sure you got some looks.  I haven't seen one of these in real life, only in books.  How did you get one of these?"     "I made it myself...well with the help of my friend Amy.  It took a lot of money and treasure hunting to get this baby together.  You want a ride?"     "Hell yeah, I do," Aden got on the back of the bike, and she passed him a helmet as well.  His head almost didn't fit inside because it was mainly used for Amy whenever she wanted to ride.  Jo took Aden's hands and wrapped them around her waist, "You have to hold on tight," she said.  She felt warm in his touch, and his body against hers felt strong but also gentle.  He held onto her tight but not too tight.  Jo turned the bike on and without warning she pressed the gas making Aden jerk a little bit.  Jo zoomed through the streets.  Aden could feel the wind against his body happy that he was able to experience this moment.       Running was nothing compared to this now all he needed was a pair of wings.  Jo manuvered the bike like she had been driving for years.  The intensity behind going in and out of traffic was exhilarating and he knew that if any of the pack members caught him doing this he would surely be getting an earful in lectures.  Jo passed the gates of the city and now they were on opened range, nothing but openness out there and it was also getting dark.  The pot she took him to was familiar because they both was her the other might but he was under a different guise.     "You don't think the guards would say anything by us being out here like this?"     "Well," she said as she was parking the bike, "One thing about having the Terrell name is we get away with some things.
