CHAPTER TWELVE Alexa’s alarm tore her from too-little sleep. Blearily she looked at the clock. Seven in the morning. About three hours after she finally went to bed. While her chest still felt sore, and her entire body yearned to slap the damn machine to silence and go back to sleep, she had to make sure Stacy made it to the school bus on time, and she had to call Stuart. She had hit on something. Alexa stumbled into the kitchen to find Stacy already eating cereal and texting. The girl looked up. “Morning. Whoa, you need some coffee.
