The disappointment

Chapter 2

Getting to the orientation ground, the Beta drove to the allotted parking spot for the Alpha and parked the car.

Elyana jumped down immediately as she couldn't wait to be with other celebrants.

Her friend had to wait for another four months to be eighteen before she can get her wolf.

Raquel and Elyana said their goodbyes as Raquel has to be at the clinic to help out at the children's ward,since her parents both work at the hospital as both doctor and nurse respectively.

Luna Susan moving close to her sister asked "are you sure you are okay, little sis?" Elyana heaved a big sigh and said "yes."

There were lots of celebrants at the venue all of which Elyana knows, she exchanged pleasantries with them, and she could not fail to notice how intimidating the Alpha looks,as he walked with the Luna and Beta to take their place on the podium.

Taking his place,the Alpha started addressing the celebrants

telling them how important they are to the pack and how they are at the verge of making a great change at midnight.

His voice bellowing "do not be afraid of the changes you would see and feel at midnight, that is why we are here to help each of you" he said, continuing he said "the girls are to follow the Luna and her second in command while the boys are to follow me and my Beta."

Everyone chorused "yes Alpha"

They all followed the Alpha's instructions, the Luna took the girls to the hall behind the orientation ground and Elyana got to finally eat her packed breakfast. They were entertained throughout the day, they were encouraged to play games to take their minds off what was to come .

Susan spent most of the afternoon teasing her sister about her wolf and meeting her mate, because most of the pack members do meet their mates on clocking eighteen.

She almost opened up to her sister about smelling a distinct scent back at home but quickly caught herself before saying something.

Soon it was evening and they were encouraged to start getting ready, by 10:45p.m the pack gigantic bell went off

and before every celebrant could assemble on the ground,the bell has to ring seven times

by the seventh time they'll all assemble behind the hall facing the forest,where they would give their wolves free rein.

After the seventh time,they all heard a very loud and mighty howl which signifies that the Alpha had transformed followed by his Beta,

the Luna immediately shedding her clothes transformed likewise also her second -in- command.

All around Elyana there was howling and cracking of joints and bones as the transformations were taking place

Elyana looked on and tried to reach inside of her as she has been taught during the day's orientation to call forth her wolf.

But it eludes her, just when they girls were remaining five that have not turned,she felt a hand on her shoulder, looking back she saw her mom with worry written all over her face,

her mother said "baby do not be afraid,let yourself feel and let go" she said "mom I'm trying but I can't seem to reach inside my mind,by then Elyana was the last girl standing,without a wolf.

Everyone had ran off leaving her and her mother there,minutes ran into hours as she couldn't reach her wolf,

her world came crumbling down, by the time the wolves were returning changing back into their human forms;

not able to bear the shame, she knows comes with this,she fainted in her mother's arms

her mother quickly dragged and supported Elyana with her body taking her to the car, she drove home quickly,

luckily her father was with the Alpha's group and did not get to see Elyana like that.

Meanwhile Luna Susan had searched everywhere for Elyana and yet couldn't find traces of her,she was beginning to be worried

when her second -in- command whispered into her ears "Luna I overheard some group of girls talking about your sister not getting her wolf,which made her to faint.

Quickly Susan ran inside where she kept her phone,she dialled her mother's number,she picked on the fourth ring and told Susan that Elyana was indeed with her at home but she would explain everything to the Luna in the morning.

This made the Luna worry more, on getting to the pack house where she and the Alpha live,she couldn't stop worrying after a quick shower,she heard her husband in the room adjoining hers,since they do not share same room.

Knocking on the door,she opened and stepped in, she explained to him how Elyana didn't get her wolf.

The Alpha understands the implications of a werewolf being tagged "wolfless" and he felt bad for the poor girl,but he told Susan that it might be nerves and Elyana could try again at the coming of age ceremony in four months time.

Feeling lighter from the words the Alpha said,she said okay and went to her room,

to sleep for a few hours before daybreak and for she to go to her parents' home to tell them what the Alpha had said.

Sitting quietly in the dark Elyana's father and mother were discussing what to do silently, in case Elyana didn't end up getting her wolf,they love her so much and wished they could protect her from the,

ridicules,sly comments and covert glances she will have to face for the rest of her life in their pack.

As they know what a "wolfless" wolf can face, they have already witnessed it first hand before,when the girl who didn't get her wolf ended up committing suicide as she could not bear the snide comments and remarks from the pack members.

They prayed to the Moon goddess earnestly to please send them a viable solution.

Alpha Nathanael couldn't sleep likewise,he doesn't understand why his wolf "Shadow" was so sad, he also felt as if a part of him was hurting.
