Ripples in the water

Donny Bloody Yugo! I felt like puttin’ my hands around his neck and squeezin’ ‘til his round little head popped like a balloon, right off’a those shoulders of his. But, he turned an left, leavin’ me to my thoughts for a minute. The girls weren’t parta the plan. I said for Julian to put ‘em ta sleep and piss off, not lug them with them. I dunno how they even managed ta leave with the girls without alertin’ anyone! My blood boiled! “You’re better than that”, I whispered to the sleepin’ beauty, removing the restraints from her raw wrists and ankles. I wonder how long she’s been out for? The other one stirred something in me, and I couldn't stand Yugo to be 'round her. I had to control myself, before my wolf decided to party. I wasn’t in the people movin’ business, and Yugo knew I didn’t wanna part in this. The prick! Makin’ me his lacky, who did he think he was? It wasn’t my fault his men were amateurs. I gave them all the intel they needed, and they still left sloppy ends. “What’s your name sweetheart?” I looked her dead in the eyes, keepin’ my voice soft. “What are you going to do with us?” She pleaded. “Tell me your name first, and I’ll give you somethin’ in return!” Putting my best smile forward while I stood a few feet away from her, she bobbed her head in a nod. She looked tired and bruised, but I could see that beneath it all, she was magnificent. Smooth porcelain skin with long tight brown curls stretching down her back. I wanted to pull one ta watch it spring back into place, ta feel its texture between my fingers and breathe in its freshness of pink rose. Dark mocha eyes, called ta me with unsung songs and her body curved beautifully in all the right places. “It’s Carlisa, but most people call me Lisa.” Her cheeks blushed a dark red hue at the revelation. “Well, Carlisa, how ‘bout you help me get you and ya friend outta here and somewhere safe, huh?” This time I spoke with confidence, while I received her silent gratitude. Carlisa looked over at her friend. I had heard her callin’ out ta her earlier. Dionne. Yes. Unlike Carlisa, Dionne still had her name badge on. I was gonna need ta work fast… Yugo was a man of his word, only if it suited him. Whether Carlisa wanted him or not, I would not let him ‘ave her. Luckily, he only slapped her ‘round a ‘lil before I broke it up. I probably only had twenty minutes or so before that d**k came back ta take his fill. When he found a new plaything, he would play until it was broken. I didn’t want her broken! “I’m gonna release you, but I need ta know you ain’t gonna stuff this up… Are we good?” I hoped she trusted me enough ta know I wouldn’t hurt her. “Yes.” Carlisa mouthed at me, looking right down inta my burnin’, hot soul. Scanning over her mild injuries quickly, I grabbed both her shoulders carefully. She tensed under my hands, her silk shirt tickling me slightly as it slipped. Her breathin’ picked up an I could tell she was scared. She was a f**k'n gorgeous, scared kitten. Givin’ her ma full attention, I tried to reassure her. “I might ‘ave ta pick this one up, so you good ta walk?” Nodding, she held my gaze while I quietly set her free. She moved close to me and I could feel her heat spreading through me. Her warm hand rested over my heart as she mouthed “thank you.” Time was tickin’ an' the sleepin' one was gonna be heavy. I just prayed she wouldn’t wake just yet. We still had a bit of movin’ ta do ta get outta here. Where was I gonna take ‘em. Yugo would know to check mine first, if he remembered where my crib was. It felt like I was doin' the waltz tryin’ ta walk with the friend over my shoulder. Carlisa stood hot on my heals, followin’ my every move. Yugo only had blokes at the main entrance. The back door was unprotected 'coz it had a pin lock. I got Charlisa to press the numbers in the lock while I took care of Dionne. She moved a little, but didn’t wake. The only place I knew was safe, was Alpha Arthur’s pack. I knew he had the resources ta look after the girls. I knew he also had some great doctors on hand too. Alpha would know what ta do. I could call Ma’s on the way there and let her know I’m out for tonight’s Dinner. We breached the back security door and the parkin' lot was vacant except for Chris’s and Nate’s cars, and my black work ute. Shufflin' through the carpark with the girls I reached for my keys to open. Placin' Dionne on the back seat in a lying down position, Carlisa wasted no time jumpin' inta the front passenger’s seat, bucklin' herself in. She was pantin', and her eyes were dartin' everywhere! ……………….. Dionne I woke up. My head felt like it had been stomped on. It banged. Groggily, my eyes began to open, slowly taking in my surroundings. I was on a king bed in a large room. The walls were a soft apple green. Black curtains were pulled closed in front of what seemed to be a bay window, where an antique day bed filled with gold pillows sat proudly. Tiny speckles of light bounced onto the ceiling from behind the tops of the curtain. To the right of the window, a floor to ceiling bookshelf stood, with a good selection of fiction and non-fiction books. I could make out some titles that I had recently read. Right across from the bed there were three large-framed pictures. The picture on the right was a watercolour painting of a large black pebble being thrown into a river surrounded by lush forest. A male figure stood at the foot of the river. The shadow he cast was that of a wolf. The picture on the left was a sketch of a lady. Her hair tasseled in the wind. She was reaching for something. In the middle was an enlarged photo of a man on a park bench looking into the distance. He seemed to be waiting for something. Underneath the frames was a mahogany coat rack holding several gent’s jackets. Stirring on the bed, I realised that the room was foreign to me, but the smell was oddly familiar. Looking down, I noticed the black cotton duvet and sheets that felt cool against my body. Panic quickly paralyzed me. Someone had dressed me. Suddenly, the door-knob began to turn, making a soft metallic scratching sound. It was followed by a tiny pop as the door opened slowly. I waited, frozen. A figure appeared inside the room and shut the door behind them. They quietly approached me, coming into view around the L shape doorway. “Mum? What are you doing here? Where are we?” My heart was thrumming with so many questions, and all they were met with was a “hush” from Mum as she cradled me fast in her arms.
