‎ ‎My hand was still shaking when I dropped the note. ‎ ‎I didn’t mean to. It just slipped. Like my fingers forgot how to hold things. The tiny piece of paper dropped on the floor beside the bullet ‎ ‎For a full ten seconds, I just stood there, holding my breath like if I inhaled the wrong way, something bad would explode around me. ‎ ‎My heart was doing that weird stop-start thing again. ‎My hands were cold. ‎My legs… yeah, they weren’t doing great either. ‎ ‎“This… this is insane,” I whispered, voice barely there. “This is seriously God this is too much.” ‎ ‎I didn’t even know who I was talking to. Myself, maybe. The empty parking lot. The universe that clearly had it out for me. ‎ ‎I stepped away from the car, not trusting anything around it. Like maybe touching the door
