The Mass Shooting

Chapter 4

I woke up slowly. All I see is darkness. I can't move, my hands are tied behind my back, a black bag was over my head and tape on my mouth. I started struggling but then shooting pain came from my right thigh. I yelled.

I felt someone sit me up roughly and I screamed in pain. Then I felt a hand on my throat and squeezed lightly.

"Now, hold still. We are going to put..."

I started struggling as hard as I can. Then the hand squeezed tightly on my throat and yelled in my face. "Stop or your going to blow us all up!"

I froze and breathed heavily. Tears poured down my face. I felt hands put what feels like a vest on my shoulders. It was heavy. Then I heard a beep. More tears poured down my face like a waterfall.

"The bomb is set." One of the men said.

My breathing quickened. Then my face was patted. 

"Don't worry, Harper. It will only be used if we don't get out of here. It's just a precaution." 

"Sit her against the wall. We'll be leaving soon." I heard Enzo say.

Two pairs of hands grabbed my arms and dragged me backwards until my back hit a wall. They carefully set me down and walked away.

For what felt like ten minutes, I heard footsteps coming my way. Then the bag was taken off. My eyes watered from the brightness. Enzo bent down in front of me with his men watching me. Enzo snapped in my face and I looked at him.

"So, this is how it's going to go. We are leaving and you'll be our ride out of here. If you do one thing wrong, we'll detonate the bomb and push you to you're friends and family and we'll watch you all die. If you try to escape, we'll do the same. Do you understand?"

I nodded with tears running down my face. He grabbed my right arm and helped me stand up, but didn't let go. My leg started throbbing.

"Let's go." 

He dragged me out of the store and toward the security office with me limping behind him, but we walked passed it. When we got to the end of the hallway, there standing in our way was Jace. A tear ran down my face and shook my head. When he saw me, his eyes widened when he saw the bomb.

I see in his eyes that whatever plan he had wasn't going to work.

"Well, what do we have here?" Enzo looked at me and back at Jace amused.

Enzo ripped the tape off my mouth. "Tell him to move out of our way." He took out the blade that he stabbed me with and put the tip on the side of my neck. 

I winced.

"Don't hurt her!" Jace yelled.

The tip of the blade went in my neck a little. I felt a few drops of blood drip down my neck. I yelled in pain. "Then get the hell out of our way or I'll kill her!" Enzo yelled in my ear. I flinched.

"D-Do it, Jace. Please." A tear ran down my face.

He shook his head. Then Enzo put the blade away and took out a small handgun and pointed it at Jace. "No!" I yelled and struggled.

Enzo threw me to one of the men behind us. He gripped his hands around my arms tightly.

Enzo slowly walks toward Jace. When he got close, he punched Jace in the face. He fell on his back. Then Enzo kicked him in the stomach a couple of times. He didn't move.

"No! Let me go!" I yelled and struggled. 

Enzo walked back towards me and grabs me. We started walking toward the door.

"Jace!" I looked back, but the men where in my way. "Jace!"

Then Enzo's arm goes around my throat and puts pressure. One of the men put a gag around my mouth and tied it tight. Tears were pouring down my face.  Enzo then lifted his booted foot and kicked the door open. It was now dark outside and I didn't see any cop cars or S.W.A.T. I was confused.

We walked toward a few SUV's and got in. I sat in the back with a few of his men. Enzo got in the passenger seat and someone else got in the drivers side and took off. Then someone put a bag over my head. We drove for a while and when we did stop, we all got out of the SUV. Someone dragged me out of the vehicle and towards the unknown. We stopped walking after going down a few flights of stairs. One of the men disarmed the bomb and took it off me. Then a hand led me in further and a door slammed shut. Someone took the bag of my head.

At first it was dark. Then someone turned on the light. I shielded my eyes as my eyes started watering from the brightness. I looked around the room. All there was was chains that were connected to the wall and a mattress that was laying on the floor next to the chains.

"You'll stay here until I get what I want from your father. Until then, get comfy."

I spun around to Enzo walking towards me. He took out his blade and I started walking backwards. He reached for my hands and grabbed the zip tie that was around my wrists. He tugged me towards him and then he cut the zip tie. 

"Sit on the mattress." He pointed behind me.

I hesitated. Then he pushed me onto the mattress. He hooked the chain around my left ankle and locked it. He looks at me.

'"We'll bring you food in a couple hours. Are you allergic to anything?"

"Seafood and peanuts." I whispered.

"Thank you. If you cooperate with us then you won't get hurt.
