Warrior’s Human Mate

Chapter 4

Long green trees flew past them at a lightning-fast pace. The whole ride so far was very quiet. Barely anyone spoke the whole time. Xander then broke the silence.

"Rose, did Mary tell you what's gonna happen to you tonight?"

Rose then looked towards the front of the car. "No, she did not." She said in confusion. "What do you mean?"

Ryan sighed, "She doesn't know anything, Xander." He growled as he looked at the man beside him.

Suddenly, the sound of the car doors locking filled her ears. She looked around, slightly scared. "Know what?"

"Sit back, Rose, this is gonna be a tough one, plus we have a long ways to go so we can explain in full detail," Xand said as he then turned on the radio, pressing a few buttons, gentle, relaxing music started to play.

Rose then leaned back against her seat.

"A long time ago, humans found out about us," Ryan said. "Supernatural beings, the ones from fantasy novels and movies." He paused. "A giant war broke out. The humans saw us as a force to be wiped out, evil beings. They threw everything they had at us. bombs, tanks, weaponry, everything they had. Little did they know there wasn't just one type of Supernatural beings, there are millions." Ryan then took a deep breath. "The thing is, we were not the bad guys, we just wanted to live our lives as much as humans did, we were innocent beings just like you, however." He then sat up straight. "Some supernatural beings require humans, rather it be for their blood, meat or some other reason. So, in order to keep the peace, the human government agreed to set up areas around the world where they would breed humans, then have them sent to Supernaturals to be used for whatever they wanted them for. Of course, rules were put in place for us." He gestured behind himself and Xander. "We are only able to get humans because of their blood, we need human blood to keep ourselves from going mad."

The stories Rose had read suddenly played in her mind. The only creature she could think of that needed human blood was.. "You're a Vampire?" She asked suddenly.

Xander chuckled "You know about Vampires?" He asked.

Rose nodded "Only in books." She said. "So does that mean creatures like unicorns and dragons actually exist?"

"Yes, we have every single one, from the small little fairies to the biggest dragon you could possibly imagine." Ryan said with amusement in his voice.

"So.. I was born to be given to Supernaturals?" She asked.

Xander nodded. "It was your parents' choice, we didn't force them to do it."

"Did they get anything out of it? Giving me up?" Rose asked, her voice was somber with the sound of her threatening to cry.

Ryan then took in a deep breath, "Every child they produce, they get money in exchange for them."

A lone tear then ran down her face, the only reason why she was born was for money, and to maybe be turned into a slave, or worse. Did they even love her the way they said they did? Her thoughts then returned to her birthday, everything made sense now, the phone, the locket, the way they said goodnight to her.

"There are schools within those breeding communities your parents could of sent you too. You would of learnt everything there was about the supernatural world." Ryan then paused "Why your parents didn't tell you is a mystery."

Rose nodded "I'm not sure why, I would of loved that," She said softly.

"Oh yeah?" Xander said, "What's your favorite creature?"

She looked up and looked out the window. The moon was shining out above the clouds, only one creature could top them all. "Werewolves." She said, "I've always liked wolves growing up. I loved their eyes the most."

Xander chuckled "Well, you might be in luck. There are a few werewolf packs that buy humans. They mostly use them to work in the kitchens of their packhouse. They also work as maids."

Rose's interest peaked. "So is it true that Werewolves and Vampires don't like each other?"

Ryan snorted in disgust, "Yes. It is true. We have a long and tiring history together, we've had a few wars, over stupid things."

"We're here." Xander then said.

Rose then leaned forward to look out at the windshield of the car. A large building, similar to the one she was in, came into view. There were at least a thousand cars parked outside.

"This is where you will find your home," Ryan said. "You will be auctioned off, these auctions happen once a month, there could be allot of humans up for auction or there could be little." Scouting out to find a parking spot, the car was parked next to a large SUV.

Xander then opened the door for Rose to exit out of. She thanked him as he took her leash in his hand before passing it to Ryan.

"It'll start in an hour. We will have enough time to get you something to eat before we head out back to where we wait till we are called to the stage, I will state your age, blood type, abilities and things about you." Ryan said as we walked through the front door of the giant building.

There were people everywhere, but not just your normal human people, people with tails and horns. Giant three-headed Cerberus dogs walked around, sniffing greetings to the guests. A Minotaur and a Griffon exchanged in conversation. Beside them were creatures she had seen in movies and books. A Centaur and a black Pegasus spoke as though they were old friends, laughing and joking around.

Rose was looking around in amazement at the creatures who seemed to be carefree and loving their time here. Why hadn't she seen a Werewolf yet? She seemed very disappointed in the fact that she hadn't seen one yet.

Suddenly, a small Elf approached the three of them. "Are you selling her tonight?" He spoke in a high voice, he gestured towards Rose.

"Yes, I am. I would like to feed her before then though," Ryan said, as he looked down at the Elf.

With a wave of his hand, "Follow me to the human feast," he said as he trotted off.

The Elf leads them through a large doorway and through another, there, as they entered, was a large dining table, at least thirty chairs were spread out alongside it, some already seating some humans, all with collars around their necks. They were all here for the same reason Rose was, to be sold.

Ryan then gestured for Rose to eat before he spoke to the Elf about ordering some fresh blood to drink. Rose then slowly made her way to the table. As she sat, a little Fairy approached her. The gentle flutter of her wings could be heard.

"What would you like to eat, miss?" She asked with a very squeaky voice. Rose leant forward towards her as she took in her beauty.

"Err.." She said "Maybe some lamb cutlets with cooked veggies?"

The Fairy nodded "Coming right up." And with a flick of her wrist, a plate appeared, with exactly what she wanted, even with a jar of gravy.

Rose deadpanned as she stared at the food in front of her, "Thank you." She said, in shock. The Fairy smiled and flew off quickly.

At the first bite of her food, it had to be the best tasting food she had ever tasted in her life, the meat was tender and delicious, the veggies were exactly the type she liked, nothing she disliked was on the plate. It was if the Fairy knew what she liked and disliked.

As she finished her plate, Xander approached her. "So, what do you think of this place so far?"

"It's amazing, everything is amazing. The Fairy that took my order gave me exactly what I asked for. It was so yummy and the veggies had nothing that I didn't like! It's like she knew!" She exclaimed with excitement.

Xander chuckled "They have some sort of magic that knows a person's food preferences. I don't know how it works, but its interesting."

"Very interesting!" Rose said.

"Anyway, come on, we need to fill out your paperwork before the auction." Xander said as they both stood up, he led her through the exit of the dining room and out the door they entered in and walked through the crowd. Some turn their heads towards the human that walked behind a Vampire, off to be auctioned.

"Take a look at that one," one said.

"Such a pretty hair color." Another said.

"Smells like an angel."

"She's tiny."

All the comments made her nervous. Was she really that short? As she looked up at Xander, he at least had to be seven feet tall while she was around 5 feet tall. As he lead her through the crowd, they entered a room. There she saw Ryan talking to what looked like a giant Orc.

"Ah, there she is." Ryan said as he took the lead from Xander's hand, "This is Rose." He said as he gestured her to the Orc.

"Tiny" The Orc gruffed, Rose then looked up at him. He was at least ten feet tall, he towered over Ryan and Xander and made her look like a midgit. He had two giant-tusk-like teeth pointing out from his mouth, his tufted ears poked out the side of his head. Though what he was wearing was what amused her. It was a similar tuxedo to what the Vampire's beside her were wearing. The only skin that he was showing was his feet, hands and head. His skin was a shade of lime green.

"Giant," Rose said as she looked up at him.

"Rakgu likes Tiny." he said as he looked down at Rose, his expression soft. So his name was Rakgu.

Ryan chuckled as he spoke to Rose "Rakgu is an old friend, he runs the auction in this area." He said "He makes sure that you are all taken care of, you ever need something after you are sold, you contact him."

"Tiny be sold first tonight." Rakgu said suddenly as he pointed at her, before anyone could say anything, he walked away and entered a room, he had to duck a bit to enter.

Ryan pulled on Rose's leash as they followed him. There Rakgu was grabbing some papers carefully with his giant hands.

"Fill paper." He said as he shoved the paperwork at Ryan and handed him a pen.

Ryan dropped Rose's leash, which made her look up at Rakgu again. She liked him, even though he could squash her like an annoying bug.

"R-Rakgu." She said to him. His head snapped down to her with interest. "You look dapper tonight." She smiled.

The Orc's mouth then opened in a smile "Rakgu thanks Tiny."

"Done." Ryan said as he handed the paperwork back to Rakgu.

The Orc quickly scanned over the written information about Rose "Weird humans." He mumbled before pointing at Rose, "Don't know about us." He then gestured to himself. "Didn't teach."

Rose then shook her head "No, you are the first Orc I've ever seen."

"Rakgu won't be last." He said.

A knock at the door has everyone turn their heads to the door. There a tall Cyclops and another collared human stood there. They were here to fill out paperwork aswell.

"Wait in room." Rakgu said to Ryan as he picked up Rose's leash and led her out the door.

There, other creatures and humans stood in a line. There were four more humans, six in total to be sold tonight, four human males and two human females. Ryan then lead her to the room behind the auction stage, where she'd stand in front of creatures from her dreams and be shown off to them. They sat down on one of the lounges. Her nerves where driving her through the roof, she was shaking because of how scared she was.

"Breath." Xander said as he sat down next to her "You'll be fine, the actual auction itself only lasts for five minutes, you'll only be on and off again before you know it."

His words made her calm a little, the other humans and their guardians for tonight entered the room after filling out the paperwork they were required to. Once all of them where in the room, Ragku then entered the room.

"Tiny first." He pointed at Rose as he then entered onto the stage.

The roar of the crowd pounded Rose's ears. Then, she looked out onto the stage through a gap in the curtains. He addressed the crowd in such a way it seemed like he belonged up there.

"And now our first human of the night. Rose." Ragku said suddenly.

Ryan then stood up, tugging Rose up from her seat. She felt like her legs were jelly as she walked alongside Ryan up the stairs and onto the stage. The bright lights from above the stage lit her up like a firefly.

Rakgu then handed the microphone to Ryan before standing to the side "This." He gestured to her "Is Rose." It was then that Rose stared into the crowd.

There was as many as she saw in the crowd as they entered the building, thousands at least. From the tallest dragon to the smallest nymph at the front of the seating.

"She is 18, only having her birthday three days ago." Ryan said "She has a unique education though." He said. That seemed to peak the interest in some of the crowd "She was home-schooled." That made the crowd murmur to one another. "Her parents never taught her about us, instead, she was thought other things rather then boring old math." Some of the crowd then chuckled "She was taught to cook, clean, garden, hunt and fish. Her blood type is O negative." He said before looking at Rakgu who nodded. "Bidding starts at $500k."

That made Rose snap her head towards him. Was that how much her parents sold her for? Was she really worth that much to them?

"$600k" Someone called out.

"$700k" Another called.

"1 million dollars." A different voice was heard, and that made Rose look up. Her eyes widened at the person that voice came from. It wasn't a person. But a Werewolf. A huge one at that. He was in his werewolf form, seeming bipedal by the way he was leaning forward in his chair with his teeth showing. Beside him, another werewolf sat. He stared at the bigger werewolf in shock. His eyes went from his friend to Rose before he noticed she was staring at him. His eyes then widened as he looked around. He must be thinking that another should bid on her so his friend didn't spend too much money on a human who had a unique upbringing.

"Is that your final offer?" Ryan said towards the werewolf.

The werewolf nodded slowly.

"Going once, going twice." Ryan said "Sold!"
