The last two days went by fast as they fell back into a normal routine. I needed to get back into training and made up for it that past two days, sparring multiple times a day with my mates. We have been sparring harder with one another, preparing me for possible future Alpha fights.
As much as I’m enjoying the little break right now because my body is still feeling a little bruised and sore, I would almost rather go full force fighting with my mates than have to spend the rest of the evening at Silver Creek with Alpha Ronan.
I was sitting in the backseat with Damien while Aiden drove us to Silver Creek, we followed behind several buses of pack members and a few people were driving in their own vehicles. Ian, Keegan and his mate were leading up in the front.
It was a long drive, but we finally made it to Silver Creek and followed the line of cars down a long road until we reached a massive event center. The gentlemen directing traffic stated that the buses and cars can unload everyone near the door and showed Aiden where he can follow the buses to park his car.
Aiden dropped off Damien and I at the door as he went to go park. It was amazing how many people were flooding in, mostly young teens and adults hoping to meet their mates tonight. All were dressed in beautiful dresses with masks covering their eyes.
“I brought this for you” Damien said revealing a golden mask that perfectly went with my dress, “It is a Masquerade ball after all.”
“This is perfect! Thank you.” I put the mask over my face, and he then showed another black and gold mask that he then put on.
“Shall we?” as he offered me his arm.
I took his arm and we walked inside. The decorations were a bit odd to me, but I guess everything matched the theme. There was a huge dance floor on one half and the other half had several round tables all with elaborate centerpieces at the middle.
“Maybe with this many people here we won’t even run into Alpha Ronan?” I whispered to Damien
“Here’s hoping.”
We paused by the entryway and waited for Aiden; I could sense him before I saw him. He came up and offered to take my other arm and together we all made our way over to the tables when a young girl with a clipboard asked us our name.
“Alpha Aiden, Alpha Damien of Blood Moon and this is our mate and Luna, Camille.” Aiden said
The young girl bowed, “Alphas, Luna, you are most welcome.” She glances at her clipboard, “You three are assigned to the head table with Alpha Ronan, how exciting! Please follow me”
I could hear Damien and Aiden both groan at the mention of the seating arrangement, but we followed the young girl up to the front table. I glanced around a bit, trying to see if I could find Ian; Damien must have noticed me looking.
“Miss, could you please inform me as to what table my Beta has been assigned?” Damien asked her
She looked back at her clipboard, “He is assigned to table 27 which is right up here near the front as well”, she said as she pointed over to a table.
I followed the direction of her finger, and I could see Ian standing next to the table alongside Keegan and his mate, I didn’t see anyone else at the table yet. Ian’s eye immediately locked with mine and his smile turned into a devilish grin as he looked me up and down.
“Damn, you look amazing!” Ian’s voice came through as a private link
“So do you handsome.”
I was brought back when we stopped moving in front of the only long rectangular table that was at the front.
“Alpha Damien this is your seat right here, Alpha Aiden you are to his left and then Luna Camille you are right here, next to Alpha Ronan”
I’m sorry, I must have misheard her, what?!
“I’m afraid there must be some mistake, our mate will be sitting between us.” Aiden said
“I’m sorry Alpha Damien but Alpha Ronan was quite clea . . . .”
“Alpha Ronan forgets his manners sometimes, but we weren’t asking. Camille will be sitting here.” Damien said as he pulled the middle chair for me to sit which I happily took.
“Of course, my apologies Alpha’s” she said with a bow, “Luna” she gave me another bow before heading back towards the entrance to help seat other guests.
“What the hell was that!?” A very pissed off Aiden asked through mind link to me and Damien.
“He’s up to something, and I’m pretty sure he knows about Cam or at least he suspects something.” Damien replied
“Princess I don’t want you near him without one of us beside you, I can’t imagine he would try something here, but I don’t trust him.”
“That’s perfectly fine by me, I’ll be happy to avoid him all night! He gives me the creeps!”
“Hey Damien, look who just walked in, is that who I think it is?”
Damien looked towards the front for a few seconds, “What would his pack be doing here?”
“I don’t like this, I’m telling you. He’s up to something. I’m gonna go talk to Keegan, I want him keeping his men on high alert.”
“Damien, who is that?” hoping he would finally fill me in
“That’s Alpha Stratton, his pack isn’t very big, and his men aren’t fighters, but he would let other men lie with his mate if it meant turning a profit or gaining something in return.” I feel Damien get heated at the mention, his hands were curling into fists. He was so furious at the thought; he was ready to fight the man.
I put my hand on his thigh to try to help calm him. He took a few deep breaths before he continued, “I’ve heard on good resource that he’s even sold some of his young pack members into slavery in exchange for goods. He’s a weasel of a man and last I knew he was not in good standing with Silver Creek, or really any pack around here for that matter, so that fact that he’s here means Ronan is up to something. Whatever you do, I do not want you talking to that man.”
“Sounds good to me,” I glanced over and looked at him, I could sense the disapproval from the Moon Goddess as I watched him, same that I felt towards Ronan, and I knew that my time to face each of them would come but today was not that day.
More and more people finally started taking their seats, and our table started filling up as well. It seemed most of the Alphas for each pack attending was at the head table with their Luna’s if they had one. Luckily Alpha Stratton was seated at the complete opposite end of the table from us.
I met a few of the other Alphas at our table as they were all seated; all were very kind and seemed like good decent men. Their Luna’s were all wonderful and I was hoping that I would get a chance to talk with them some more later this evening.
“Ah Alpha’s you made it!”
Uhh, I would recognize that cringy voice anywhere.
“Of course, Alpha Ronan, thank you for having us.” Aiden said
“And Luna Camille, it’s a pleasure to see you again! May I say that you look absolutely stunning in that dress, your mates are very lucky men.” he said as he took my hand into his and kissed the back of my knuckles.
“Alpha Ronan, thank you for having us.” I managed to say as I gave him a slight bow
“Well please be seated, we’re about to get started.”
We all took our seat and Alpha Ronan took a microphone and had everyone in attendance find their seats so we could get started with dinner. He gave some long speech going into the history of Silver Creek and about the importance of hosting these dinners and how he hopes for peace and prosperity among all the packs.
It was easy to tune him out. I placed each of my hands on Aiden and Damien’s thigh under the table and just focused on getting through this dinner.
Dinner was actually quite good, but the wine was even better, I usually didn’t drink much, my father always said it dulled the senses, but I needed something to help me get through this thing. I looked at over Ian and finally had a look at the rest of his table.
Aside from Ian, Keegan and his mate, the rest were all gorgeous women who I didn’t recognize. What the hell?
Alpha Ronan must have caught my stare, “Ahh, don’t worry we’ll find your Beta a mate tonight, I made sure to set him up with a few very special ladies.” Ronan said in a hinting way to Damien and myself
“That’s right, I forget that you and Ian have somewhat of a history together.” Damien said
“You do?” I couldn’t stop the question from slipping out
“Before I had my mate, Goddess rest her sweet soul,” he didn’t seem the least bit sad mentioning his dead mate, “Ian and I used to go out to quite a bit together. We met one night at a bar, well we actually got into a fight over a young she-wolf, and by the time we were done beating the crap out of one another, the she wolf was gone and we were able to laugh it off. We became friends for a time, so don’t worry Luna, I know his type.” He leaned over and gave me a wink
I felt like I could throw up. Looking over at all the women at the table, I could definitely make out a pattern; tall, blonde, big boobs and all of them looked nothing like me. I tried to calm myself down a little bit by reminding myself that he wore my mark under that suit jacket.
Aiden kissed the side of my cheek sensing my frustration at Ronan’s words, “Ian loves you; you have nothing to worry about princess.” He whispered into my cheek. He was right, I took a deep breath and took another sip of my wine; ok, more like I chugged the rest of the glass and signaled to the young girl for a refill.
Once dinner was over, Ronan announced that the dancing would begin and at his signal music started to play.
“Would you do me the honors of starting off the dance Luna?” Alpha Ronan suddenly asked with his hand out waiting.
“I’m afraid I’m not the best dancer” that wasn’t true, I was actually a pretty good dancer. I studied ballroom my last few years of high school.
“Well then you can just follow my lead.”
I could feel Damien give my leg a squeeze under the table. I hesitated and looked between my mates.
“I think I could spare one dance for you this evening Alpha Ronan” I finally answered. I put my mask back on and let him take my hand.
