I heard Aiden growl before Camille put her hands on his chest to stop him, standing on her tiptoes to whisper near his ear, I’m sure trying to reassure him.

‘Damien, I can feel Camille 's wolf trying to reach out to me, but I can’t seem to mind-link her, is she ok? What’s going on?’ Ian’s frantic voice pops into my head.

‘She made a challenge to Alpha Felix’ I knew he wasn’t going to like this.

‘SHE DID WHAT? WHY?!’

‘I honestly don’t know; we had literally just gotten out of the car when she made it.’

‘What the hell! Who’s with her?’

‘He wouldn’t allow me or Aiden to stand in.’

‘f**k, get her out of there! Just pick her up, throw her in the car and bring her home.’

Heck, that actually wasn’t a bad idea. . . . . .

‘You know I can’t do that; we need to trust her.’

‘I can’t believe you made me stay home. I should be there with her! If something happens. . . ‘

‘She’s strong Ian, and she has the Moon Goddess on her side. I don’t like this as much as you, but there’s nothing we can do.’

I see Camille start to undress, so he wants to fight her wolf, that at least makes me feel a little better. I get nudity isn’t so much of a thing between wolves, but now that it’s my mate getting naked around a bunch of men, the thought really pisses me off.

‘They’re getting ready to start, he chose her wolf form’ I said, keeping Ian in the loop.

I once again feel helpless as I stand next to Aiden, a good 40 feet away from our mate. She had removed everything except her bra and panties, ‘good girl’ I thought to myself. She seemed to be saying a silent plea to herself, asking the Moon Goddess for help would be my guess.

As soon as she was done, she shifted into her wolf form, shredding yet another bra and panty set this weekend. The gasps and looks of awe and confusion from Alpha Felix and his men didn’t go unnoticed as they took in our mate’s massive white wolf. I might be seeing things, but it almost looked like she had this faint glow around her again.

Alpha Felix shifted and he came circling Cam, preparing, but I’m sure he was also taking her in.

‘They’re circling up’ I told Ian.

His wolf circled around her, occasionally acting like he was preparing for a jump or swinging a claw towards her, but he kept circling, almost like he was waiting for her to try to attack, or waiting for something to happen.

‘What’s happening?’ Ian asked.

‘Nothing yet, he hasn’t really tried to attack, he just keeps . . . .OH f**k!’

‘DAMIEN?!’

‘DAMIEN! What happened?!

‘IS SHE OK? GOD DAMNIT DAMIEN ANSWER ME!’

I stood frozen for a minute trying to process what I had just seen. Alpha Felix lunged at her and as his wolf did, Cam’s wolf dropped low, almost spinning herself upside down, lunging under him (something a wolf would normally never do as they expose their belly). She waited until he was over top of her and she bit down on his throat, ripping it clean out, letting his body fall hard to the ground with a thud. It happened so fast; I couldn't believe it. Suddenly, Ian yelling at me brought me out of my shock.

‘She’s ok Ian, she’s fine. It’s over, it happened so fast.’

‘I swear to the Goddess, Damien, I could kill you for leaving me here!’

We immediately run over to her wolf, and she shifts back. I grab her clothes off the ground, and she quickly gets dressed. Her throat and chest are covered in blood, otherwise she doesn’t have a scratch on her.

She looks towards his Beta, who was staring in shock at his former fallen Alpha. He noticed her glance and immediately bowed his head toward her, “Alpha” he said, addressing her in a tone that was obvious he was unhappy with the new chain of command.

“Take me to the office” she said to him in an equally cold tone to match his own.

We followed behind Camille and Beta Luke until we were back to the building we originally pulled up in front of. I was a little confused because, normally, right after the challenge she would call a new Alpha, but I wasn’t sure what she was doing.

We make our way into the office and Beta Luke leads us into a conference room. A quiet, young omega comes in and the Beta tells her to bring us all some tea. She quickly bows before leaving again. We all take a seat, not saying a word until a mind-link from Camille comes through to me and Aiden.

‘When I say, Damien, you grab the Omega, Aiden, you grab Luke.’

We weren’t sure what was going on, but the situation felt serious, and we trusted her.

‘Understood’. We both replied

“Will you please send for Vander and Eli from your pack. Have them come here” She spoke now to Beta Luke. He hesitated for a moment, acting almost unwilling to follow her orders, but she is currently their acting Alpha.

You could see him mind-linking for a moment before he looked back at her, “Done”

A moment later, the young omega girl came back with a tray full of tea that she set down on the table. She was about to grab one of the cups to place in front of myself when Camille’s voice came through, ‘Now’

Standing, I grabbed the young girl and pinned her arms behind her back, holding them in front of my chest. When I looked up, Aiden had Luke down on his knees, with one arm pinned and in a headlock. We both looked at our mate, hoping we would finally get some answers.

“Now which one of you would like to tell me why your pack was going to try to kill us?” Camille said in such an authoritative tone that was sexy as hell.

She looked towards Luke and then at the young girl I had pinned. I could sense how frightened the young omega was.

“I’m so sorry, I di. . . .” the young girl started to say before Luke interrupted her.

“Bite your tongue or else I will rip it from your mouth.” He threatened her.

Camille looked over at him, “You are in no position to make threats, and since you aren’t willing to talk” she nodded at Aiden, “then I have no use for you.” With that Aiden snapped his neck and let his body fall to the ground, causing the girl in my arms to scream out.

Watching Camille be this ruthless Alpha, damn, . . . . I like it when she takes charge. I didn't imagine she had this side to her.

“Your turn,” She said, looking over at the omega. “Please continue, unless you also have nothing to say?”

“Please don’t kill me, I’ll tell you” she said between sobs. “Alpha Felix received a call last evening, the caller offered our pack a large sum of money and I believe something else, but I promise I don’t know what that was, in exchange for you.”

“When you arrived, our warriors were all waiting alongside the road with weapons. Once Alpha Felix took your hand, he would pull you out of the way and have our men ambush and kill your mates.”

I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. I’m sure that call came from Ronan or someone from his pack. It could have been Stratton but he wouldn’t have that kind of money to offer unless they were working together.

“But when you challenged his title, you changed his plans. He then sent our men into the woods, and they were supposed to take down your mates while they were distracted with the fight and once they were dead, he was going to chain you up. But I guess you killed him too quickly, breaking the chain of command and his order.”

The realization of how much danger that I had put Camille in by bringing her here made me sick to my stomach. I didn’t realize that I had been tightening my grip on this girls' arms until she cried out, so I tried to relax a little, but hearing how their pack tried to kill us, I wanted to burn this whole pack to the ground.

“I see” Cam said, taking in everything the young girl had said, “one last question and then you can go. . . . . . . . What’s in the tea?”

The young girl hung her head, staring at the ground. When she didn’t answer, I tightened my grip harder, making it more painful.

“After you killed Alpha Felix, Beta Luke sent me a message telling me to put deadly nightshade berries in all of your tea.” She quickly spoke, “Please, I was just following orders. I don’t want to hurt anyone.”

Camille looked at the girl for a moment, “Let her go” she finally said, and so I released the girls’ arms, and she quickly ran back into the kitchen.

“How did you know what they were planning, princess?” Aiden said as we both stepped next to her, each caressing her arms.

“I didn’t, I just knew something was wrong and before we got out of the car, I knew I needed to challenge him and as he started to introduce himself, I could hear her in my head telling me that I had to do it now.”

“I’m glad she did. You saved our lives, baby girl.” I whispered as I leaned down to kiss her cheek, “thank you.”

“Umm excuse me, Alpha Camille? You asked to see us?”

We turned around to see two young guys waiting by the entryway. They suddenly noticed their Beta’s body lying on the floor and we could see them visibly shaking with uncertainty.

“Ah yes, which one of you is Vander?”

One of the boys raised his hand, “I am.”

“Would you both please have a seat?”
