Alpha Kable

2093 Words
It felt weird leaving Luke’s body on the ground for Axel and Declan to take care of, but I was just glad to be heading out of there. It was a lot later than we had anticipated as we made our way to the Fire Pack. Axel let Ian get cleaned up at the office and he put on a clean change of clothes. The ride was quiet as we made our way to meet with Alpha Kable. I could feel some uncertainty through the mate bond coming from Damien and Ian in the front seat. I think they worried that Ian had scared me, which while yes, that was scary, I wasn’t afraid. Not at all surprisingly, it just made me think. I couldn’t help but now think back to having pups, having them broken down at an early age to become an elite warrior. Would I be ok with this? There was also something terribly exciting about watching the way he moved. If I was honest with myself, jealousy maybe? Even with all the training in the world I don’t think I could ever measure up. Arousal? Yes, it was in our DNA to be attracted to strength. I had always known that my mates were holding back when we sparred, or even when they sparred with each other, but I guess I didn’t realize to what degree. Sparring with me probably compares to fighting with a child. It also showed me more of that dark dominating side of Ian that I had been learning about. Maybe Damien has the same side? His is just more suppressed. I wanted to see more of that, I wonder how I could pry that out of him. When Damien told me how they were too rough with that woman they took together, I wanted to know what that would feel like, to have them both unafraid and without control. Oh Goddess, I feel like there is something wrong with me. . . maybe I’m the messed up one here? “Hey Princess, are you ok? Damien told me how everything went at Stone Creek.” the carefully asked question breaks me from the weird ass thoughts going through my head. It felt so good to hear Aiden’s voice. “Yeah, I’m fine. Everything went really well actually. I really liked Luna Calanthe; Alpha Axel has a great family.” There were a few seconds of silence, I could feel that the link was still open so I knew he was still there, “You sure that everything is ok? Your emotions are all over the place? I can’t really get a read on you.” Aiden asked, concern laced in his voice. “I promise, I’m ok.” I said, and truth be told, I was okay. “When we get back, can we talk about a few things?”               I had a feeling that one of the guys had already told Aiden about my freak out earlier today about pups and I did want to talk about that but now, I have more questions that I wanted to ask Aiden. “Of course we can princess, I'll even restock the whole liquor cabinet, you can get us drunk, ask us anything you want and then maybe, I’ll even let you take advantage of us.” Aiden said smirking               His response made me laugh out loud and helped to turn my mood around. I’m sure Damien and Ian were confused with my sudden outburst of laughter, but I didn’t care to explain. “Sounds good. Can I just say that I hate being split up like this? It doesn’t feel right, being this far away from you.” “I know, I don’t like it either. In the meantime, could you do me a favor? You could please put Damien out of his misery? He can feel your emotions are out of whack just like I can and it’s driving him crazy, hell he’s even driving me crazy about it.” Aiden says with a small laugh “I’m sorry, I will. I didn’t realize it would affect all you guys this much.” “Well, more so Damien and I” “What do you mean?” “Well, although Ian is your mate and you did mark him so I am sure that he can feel a small amount through the bond, he hasn’t marked you, so he won’t be as in-tune to your emotions like we are.” “Right,” I couldn’t help but sigh, “I forgot about that.” I’m sure my sadness at the realization was notable through the link. Aiden was quiet again for a while before he spoke, “I love you; you know I’d do anything for you right?” “I know, I love you too Aiden.” And then I felt the link close.               I sat for a moment thinking about what Aiden had said, but he was right about one thing, I didn’t want to leave Damien going crazy. I undid my seat belt and leaned forward so that I could wrap my arms around him from behind and put my head on his shoulder. His arm reached up and wrapped over mine. “I promise, I’m fine.” I kissed his cheek, “It’s really not what you think.” “Then what’s going on?” Ian asked, I could tell he wanted to touch me but was uncertain. I slid over and hugged him from behind just as I had done to Damien and placed my head against his shoulder. “It’s hard to explain.” “Do you think later you could try to explain it to us?”               I thought for a moment, trying to figure out if I could even explain it to myself “I can try” I answered honestly “Good, because we are almost there.”               We pulled up to a beautiful looking pack house. We didn’t even have our bags out of the car before someone came out to greet us. He was an older gentleman, tall and lean with light grey hair and a scruffy beard to match. He had kind eyes and a warm smile. “Damien!” he hollered before embracing Damien in a big hug. “It’s so good to see you again, been too long! And Ian!” he said now embracing in a warm hug, “Get over here. My goodness you guys have certainly grown up nicely.” “It’s good to see you again too” Damien replied with a warm smile, “Please let me introduce you to our mate and Luna, this is Camille.”               I noticed that was the second time Damien had introduced me by saying ‘our mate’, but I’m guessing most just assumed he was referring to him and Aiden, and not including his Beta standing next to us. I was just grateful that he wasn’t saying ‘my mate’ and excluding Ian all together. That thought hurt. I reached out to shake his hand, but he pulled me in for a hug, knocking the wind from my lungs, “It’s a pleasure to meet you Alpha Kable” I managed to say muffled against his chest before he released me, both of us of laughing. “Oh please, just Kable if you would and the pleasure is certainly all mine.” He said with a wink “Watch it old man” Damien said in a lovingly threatening way “Hey, who you calling old man?!” He simply waved Damien off with a smirk, “Anyways, you guys must be hungry,” he took a quick up and down look at me, “do you guys not feed her or what? Come on dear, let's go get you a burger before these knuckleheads eat them all!”               I couldn’t help but laugh as Alpha Kable took my arm through his own like a gentleman and led me around the pack house and down a stone path. I could smell the BBQ before we even turned the corner. He made sure that I made my plate with as much food as I wanted before he even allowed Ian and Damien to get in line making me laugh even harder as I watched them just standing there eyeballing the food.               There were several others running around the spacious back yard and patio, some were playing games, other just relaxing with a drink and talking. Everything looked very much like home, and I was comfortable sitting here surrounded by these people I didn’t even know.               After we finished eating, Kable had brough us all a drink and stated that now we could talk business since we had proper drinks. Damien started talking about why we were there and as he did, I couldn’t help but zone out thinking about Alpha Kaleb. He looked like a sweet and kind man but the more I really look at him, the more scars I noticed. Was he like my mates? Caring and loving one second and a ruthless killer the next? The thought intrigued me, but I had a feeling that I was right.               Even much to Damien’s surprise, Alpha Kable agreed to align with Blood Moon and offered to help us fight against Silver Creek. I was hopeful but I know no one expected it to be this easy. We were prepared for a long night of conversing while we tried to persuade Kable against Silver Creek. “You’re willing to align with us? That easy?” I asked, really speaking for the first time “I have learned one thing, and that is to trust in the Moon Goddess. And if you are who they say you are, and this is her will, then why would I question her?” I looked at him, I’m sure my face was still one of shock. “Thank you, Alpha Kable.” It was nice to have the full support of someone besides my mates who trusted me as they did. I was so grateful that there wouldn’t be any fighting or arguing or long back and forth conversations tonight. We could relax and simply enjoy the evening.               We sat and talked for a few more hours until the sun had long set. I’ll admit I was only half in the conversation. I was too caught up in my own head, I just hope that I didn’t embarrass myself. I noticed at one point that Damien had turned, and I could tell he was mind-linking, I listened in just enough to know that he was talking to Aiden. I didn’t care to continue to listen, I assumed it was about our conversation with Kable. I focused my attention back to the table and asked Alpha Kable to call his Beta over to us so that I could give them the Moon Goddess’s blessing.               It was always fascinating to watch it happen, and when I did, I could feel her presence coming alive through me. Alpha Kable’s large wolf now wore the mark of the Moon Goddess by his eye, and I could tell they were in disbelief over how they now felt; bigger, faster, stronger, . . . . . I remember the first time when I started to feel my body change. It’s a potent feeling. “Thank you, Camille,” Kable and his Beta both said bowing their heads once they changed back.               I simply bowed my head back in respect. “You all must be exhausted. I am afraid that when you said three of you, I assumed you met your other half.” Kable said speaking of Aiden, “So I only had them prepare one cabin. I didn’t realize your Beta would be accompanying you, if you’d like I can have someone prepare another cabin?” “No need Kabel, one cabin will be just fine.”               Kable gave us a look, I’m sure the thought of any Alpha not wanting privacy with his mate was unusual, but he didn’t question. “Alex will show you to your cabin then and I will see you all in the morning.” He gave us another bow and turned around heading towards the house. “Your bags have already been delivered to the cabin, if you would all please follow me.” The young boy said before turning and taking out down a different stone path.
