Chapter two:Making new friends

1421 Words
I made sure I woke up early since it's my first day at work. I must better be at my best behavior today if I would stay long at this company. I quickly got down from my bed and went to the kitchen to make some noodles for myself since that’s what’s left. I need to buy foodstuff that will carry me a few month. As I prepared the noodles, I quickly went to the bathroom to bathe. I carried a towel, wrapped it around my body, and littered my clothes everywhere in the room. What should I wear? I must look decent and nice — I need a nice outfit. I kept on scratching through the whole clothes on my bed, “Oh, what should I wear? Something simple, right?” I mumbled to myself. I picked up a peach shirt and a black free trouser and wore them tucking in the shirt in the trouser. I quickly folded the clothes I scattered back into my wardrobe and wore a black pair of high heels shoes. As I rushed straight to the kitchen, I took my noodles to the dining table, where I settled to eat my noodles. Then heard a knock on my door. “Oh no, why now? I went to open the door to find George smiling as I rolled my eyes “Don't you have manners? I was about to eat,” I said, putting on an angry face. “Then I'll join you,” he said, as he went straight the dining, huh, what?, I can't let him eat it. If not, I'd be starved when i get back, because I don't even know if they ever have time for lunch. “Hey! Don’t you dare!” I shouted as I ran after him and took the food away from his hand. “Wow, so you won’t let me eat, would you?” he said, as I went to the kitchen and dished out the last portion I left so I could eat at night anytime I came back to the dining room. “Don’t worry, I’m just kidding,” he said as he sat on the couch. Huh, does he think am here to joke,” I said, as I took the food from the table and gave it to him. “And did you think I’m kidding either? If you don’t eat this food, I won’t be happy if it wastes,” I said, acting serious. He chuckled as i also chuckled when I saw him eating. “Cool, I think that's better” I said, as I also sat down to finish my food. After we both finished eating, I took the dishes to the sink and washed them. I then took my black bag, and we both left the house. George dropped me at the company and then told me to be careful, because I had told him everything that happened the day of the interview. As I stepped into the company, I saw the guy I bumped into the last time talking to a man with authority. Fear gripped my heart as I walked past them, praying he doesn't see me. But i wasn’t fortunate. Our eyes met, but I quickly broke the eye contact as I walked quickly to my office, unknowingly bumping into someone. “Why do I always have to bump into people?, Is this company cursed or what?” I looked up to meet a handsome, tall, slim guy staring at me. “I’m sorry,” I said as I was about to walk by, but he grabbed my hand, saying, “I guess you’re new here, right?” “My name is Ken. What’s yours?” he said. "Mirabel" i replied as he flashed me a sweet smile, wow, he's the friendly type i guess unlike that rude i***t of yesterday. Uh, a thought came to my mind. “Please, that guy standing over there — who is he?” I asked as I pointed towards the guy from yesterday. "He's our boss, so you better be careful around him. By the way, I'll still see you maybe during lunch, right?" he said, smiling. I couldn't help but smile. he's really cool. "Yeah" I said we both went to our different departments. On getting to the office, I saw about two other ladies there. Oh, thank God I won't be bored. I greeted each of then and went straight to my desk to begin my work. I was fully engrossed in my work when I heard someone speak. "Aren’t you going out for lunch, or do you want to starve yourself?" I glanced up to see it was one of my colleagues. "By the way, I’m Becky, and she’s Queen," she said, pointing to the person next to her. I flashed them a sweet smile. "I’m Mira. Sorry I didn’t introduce myself earlier on. And by the way, we can go out together, can’t we?" I said, and they both nodded, giving me a warm smile. "Of course," Queen said and we all went out for lunch. On our way, we we chatted, getting to know each other better. As we reached the cafeteria, I saw Ken—the guy I met earlier chatting and laughing with his friends. When he saw me, he waved for me to come over. We took our food and joined them as we all ate and chatted together. During closing hours, George called me, saying he was going to pick me up since we both closed at the same time, 6 p.m. I sat on the roadside where he could easily see me when he came. But it’s been about an hour. Should I dial his number or should I just call a cab. "Oh no. George, where are you?" I said out loud. Then I heard a deep cold voice. "who are you waiting for at this time of the day? It’s 7 p.m., you know that, right?" I shivered as I heard his voice. It was no other person than the guy I bumped into, the one Ken told me was our boss. I bowed my head to show my respect. "I’m waiting for my friend, sir," I said respectfully. Alas, If I only i wasn't working under this rude man, why does he even care? Ha! "Doesn’t your friend know the time we close? Why would she keep you waiting for so long?" he said, this time his voice softer than before. Wait — did he just say she? "It’s not she. It’s he,and Don’t worry. He’ll come. He’ll soon be here," I said as I immediately realized what I said. Why would this arrogant boss be worried? Ha! Funny! "And why would I be worried? And by the way, why he?" he asked, demanding. It took me by surprise. This man really suprises me today. "Is it in any law to not have a male as a friend?" I asked him. "Aren’t they humans like me? You are even a man — so I shouldn’t be talking to you, should I?, And besides Most men I’ve met are cool to talk to unlike you. You are Just so arrogant, if I should say"i said to him rudely. I know I shouldn’t have talked to him like that, considering he’s my boss, but by the way, we aren’t in the company anymore, so I shouldn’t regard him as my boss any longer or maybe I should whatever. Just then I saw George’s car parked at the end of the road. I guess he hasn’t seen me yet. “Thanks for keeping me company. My friend is here, so I have to leave.” And with that, I left to meet George. *Raymond's POV* I don’t know what has gotten into me. This girl really has guts. After knowing am her boss she still talks to me this way. Hah, it seems like she doesn’t know who she’s dealing with. Why haven’t I fired her? That’s a question I have to answer anyway. So that’s the stupid friend of hers that made her have the guts to call me arrogant. Nevertheless, I already know why I am arrogant thought no need to think much about that. Hah, why am even thinking about a girl i can easily get rid of, she's not worth my attention. I got into my car as my driver drove me to the family mansion where my dad asked for a family dinner.
