"Oh f*****g hell" I said opening my eyes and immediately closing them

Putting my hands on my head, I groaned at how much my head hurt. Who let me drink? Also, how the hell did I get in my bed and changed. Sighing, I sat up and saw it was 7am. Guess i'll get up. Getting out of bed I glanced at the bed side table and saw a glass of water and two pain pills, along with my phone. I stared at them for a minute trying to make my head stop hurting and took the pills. Grabbing my phone, I opened the weather app and it's going to be 20 degrees today. Good lord. Pulling out sweatpants and a long sleeve shirt, I got changed and brought the glass down to the kitchen.

"Morning Gen" Melanie said

"Good morning. Do you need any help?" I asked

"Nope. Already have the bacon and sausage out there. Just finishing up the scrambled eggs as your father requested" She smiled

"Thank you" I smiled back

Heading out to the dining room, both my parents and Oliver were out there.

"Good morning" I said

They all replied back with a 'morning' of sorts and I sat in my seat. Grabbing a piece of bacon I munched on that and leaned my head on my hand with my eyes half closed.

"How are you feeling hun?" My mother asked

"I have a hell of a headache. But took some pain meds. Did you leave those?" I asked

"Not me hun" She said

Nodding, my siblings and friend made their way down stairs and we all ate breakfast. No one really talked since all of us seemed to be hung over.

"Gen, Jaci, meeting in my office, at 8:30 okay" My dad said

"Guess i'm not going back to sleep" I yawned

"Nope" Jaci sighed

"Bring those notes you two have been taking and anything you have about your business plan" My dad replied

We both nodded and stood up from the table. Bringing our plates into the kitchen, we made our way to Jaci's room to grab her laptop then my room to get the notebook and my laptop. Putting those all together on my dresser we both sat on my bed.

"Hey, did you bring water and pain meds to my room last night?" I asked

"No.. I did see Oliver walking with two glasses of water when I came up last night" Jaci replied

"Hmm, maybe he brought it. Why though" I yawned

"Why don't you ask him?" She said

"Eh, if I see him" I said waving my hand.

"Question. Were you two just friends?" She asked

"Yeah why?" I asked

"He seems to care about you. Might just be him I don't know him that well" My friend shrugged

"We were really close friends when we were younger. Him and his sister were the only kids who knew who I was until around 16. But then Oliver enlisted and I didn't see him until that party a bit ago" I said

"Probably still cares about you" My friend said laying back

"Probably" I yawned

We both laid on my bed until my phone started buzzing.

"Yeah" I said

"It's 8:30 you two coming" My dad laughed

"s**t" I replied and hung up, double shit

"C'mon we're late" I said shaking my friend

"For what" Jaci groaned

"That meeting with my dad and I hung up on him" I laughed

She sat up and we grabbed our stuff and made our way to his office. Knocking we heard a come in and opened the door. Looking around it was just my dad and Oliver sitting in there.

"Take a seat" My dad said "And thanks for hanging up on me"

"Sorry" I sheepishly said as he laughed

"So, I bet you're wondering why I have Oliver here. I think he would do good as a manager for you two" He said

"Well at least it's not some old dude" I said

"Or a cheeky young guy" Jaci laughed looking at me

"A cheeky? OK then" My dad said shaking his head

"We were taking guesses about who you had in mind" I chuckled

"Well I know you were were close growing up. And since Oliver had been home he's had some..issues. And came to your brother for help. We were going to make him a secretary for our company since he didn't want to go and manage a hotel for his family." My dad said

"Why not?" I asked looking at Oliver

"Sometimes I have bad leg days and just don't want to move. Managing some of the hotels, I'd have to constantly be walking around, going to events. I don't want to" He shrugged

"I offered him a management position with you two. Of course, you have the final say. But he already works well with us and knows how we conduct everything. Would just have to have a meeting with Jaci's family get everyone familiar. He can handle all the paperwork, social media, marketing. You two can be in the kitchen and come out when you please" My dad said laughing at the end.

"Hmm, that sounds like a good idea" Jaci said

"I'm terrible at that stuff" I laughed

"If anyone tries to take down your business, I was a sniper" Oliver shrugged

"Oh that could come in handy" I smirked

Everyone just looked at me and Jaci laughed.

"I hope you're kidding" My dad said

"Yeah. Should we get a hold of the realtors for those properties?" I asked

"Well I think I can handle that. Like I said I was coming to look with you two. And we can bring Oliver along as well. Can we see all your notes?" My dad said

Nodding we handed him the note book and opened our laptops. I pulled up two of the places while Jaci pulled up the other two. We slid both the computers over and my dad started looking at everything. Oliver stood next to him and leaned down to look as well.

"Now, what about a place to live?" Oliver asked

"Oh" Jaci and I said at the same time

"So, the two buildings on Gen's computer are near each other. And there's this cabin about 15 to 20 minutes away that is...mmm perfect" Jaci said

"Can you show us?" My dad asked

Standing from my seat, I walked around the desk and Oliver took a step back. Leaning over, I opened a new tab and clicked on the bookmark bar. Once the page loaded, I squatted down so Oliver could see.

"So, this is the house. It's a three bedroom, three and a half bath. The kitchen is, perfect. Just perfect." I said

"It also has a fourth bedroom that's not actually a bedroom because there is no closet so they can't list it..as..a bedroom" Jaci said trailing off "Anyway, we figured we could made it an office. You can easily fit two good sized desks in there, or three if you wanted to.Everyone gets their own wall and we share the last on"

"The it's on about 50 acres of land with more around it so if we decided to grow and raise our food we could" I added

"Well damn" Oliver said

"You two really planned that out" My dad replied

"Well we like that house" I Jaci laughed

I scrolled through all the pictures and showed them what we liked about it. The land is so pretty, I love it.

"Did you two look at any other houses?" Oliver asked

"We did, dad if you could just scoot over" I said pushing his chair "Thank you. On Jaci's computer we have two houses that are near the other two buildings. One's a three bedroom two and a half bath on maybe 5 acres. Okay kitchen, nice garage. That's about it. And it's this one. The this second one is a two bedroom, two bath, good kitchen, small office. On maybe an acre of land since it's in a smaller town"

The boys both nodded and I stood up. Sliding past Oliver, I made my way back to my chair and sat down. Jaci and I just sat there and watched as my dad and Oliver looked everything over. They were nodding and whispering to each other then my dad looked at us.

"So, if Oliver were to be your manager. Would you be okay with him living with you two? Or would you want him to get a place for himself" My dad said

"Would you move out to PA with us?" Jaci asked

"Why not" Oliver asked

"Didn't know if it would be easier to do all that from here. Granted you probably would have to be on site for a lot of things..I'm okay with it. Jay?" I said looking at my friend

"Yeah, most of the places we looked at had three bedrooms" She replied

"What about your family, could we visit?" My dad laughed

"Well, each of those places had hotels close by. And I think there's a McGarret hotel by our favorite house choice" I laughed

"My family would love that" Oliver said rolling his eyes

"If this is the game plan I can see if I can get my dad or brother on a facetime...it's about noon back home so they should be together" Jaci said

"Sure" My father replied

Jaci motioned for her laptop and my dad spun it around and slid it back across his desk. I watched as she went to the facetime app because we both have apple computers and phones so we can use our laptops to call and text people, it's so nice.

"Hi dad, Max. You two have a few minutes?" Jaci said

"Anything for you hun" Her father said

"How's California?" Max asked

"Great. I'm in G's dads office with her, her dad, and her friend Oliver. Remember how we wanted to open a restaraunt?" She said

"Yeah" They both replied

"We got a move on with it, and wanted to bring you two in to go over some things. If you'd like to be our accountant that is" My friend said

"Of course, spin us around" Her dad smiled

She smiled back and spun the laptop so it was looking at my dad and Oliver. We both went around the other side of the desk and chatted with her dad and brother for almost half an hour. But it was a super productive half and hour and I managed to hit Oliver over the head with our notebook. Everyone laughed, it was pretty funny. During that half an hour we managed to contact the realtors for the different places and set up tour dates for three out of the four buildings and the two houses that had three bedrooms. We are going to take a trip to Pennsylvania and stay in the hotel owned by Oliver's company. Seeing as 3 out of the 5 locations are all close by. The other two are two hours away so we set up tours for that house and building.

"Well girls, this was a very productive meeting, even though you two were late" My dad laughed

"We took a nap" I chuckled

He shook his head and we took our stuff and left the room.

"Girl I am so excited. I get to see you a week after I go back home" Jaci said

"I know" I smiled "You leave in two days then we fly out a week after"

"You get to see my brother again" She smirked

"Hey, that was one time and we both said there was nothing there" I laughed

"I know. But you two looked cute together. But not as cute and you an Oliver did at the party" Jaci said

"What?" I asked

"He was being protective when you were s**t faced. Do you not remember?" She asked

"I don't remember anything after him and I sat down on a bench" I said looking at her confused

"Well you made your rounds to say bye to everyone and he was behind you making sure you didn't fall and had his hand on your back because you were all over the place" Jaci smiled

"Aw, well he is ex military so he's probably used to drunks" I shrugged

"Do you know what branch he was in?" She asked

"Uhm.. I want to say. Army? I don't really know. Jamie would" I nodded

Stopping in Jaci's room, she put her stuff down and did the same when we stopped at my room. Heading down stairs, we went to the one tv room and both laid on the couch. Jamie came in a few minutes later and looked at us.

"You two are lucky this is a U shaped couch" He said shaking his head "How'd the meeting go?"

"Good" Jaci said

"Did you know dad was going to ask Oliver to be a manager for us?" I asked

"I was there when he asked." Jamie replied

"Why did he pick him? I mean, i'm not complaining I'd rather have someone I know who isn't a weirdo. But still, out of everyone?" I said

"I know dad was looking to have him do secretary stuff for us. His family knows he doesn't want to manage a hotel, he's having issues here and there with stuff related to his accident. I don't know how much you know about that so i'm not going to go into detail. But with the hotel he'll have to be on his feet and walking around constantly, he'll have to run meetings with a large amount of staff and remember a whole lot. I think dad picked him for you guys because you won't have a large team, and he won't constantly have to be on his feet and can relax when he needs to. Plus there's...episodes. PTSD. His family, dad and I want to make sure when that happens there's someone he trusts around. And he trusts you, we all grew up together and you guys were best friends." Jamie said

"oh..Uhm" I said and just looked at him

"That's a good bit to process" Jaci said

"Dad probably should of told you. I understand if you want him to get someone else" Jamie said looking at me

"No no it's fine. I mean yeah I would of liked to know so it doesn't scare the s**t out of us. I didn't know" I sighed

"what happened to him?" Jaci asked

"What do you know Gen" Jamie said

"Uhm. Nothing really. I heard he had gotten hurt. But you guys never told me. And he seems fine when I see him here" I said

"I'll be right back" My brother said

Jaci and I nodded and watched him leave the room.

"Well, that was intense" Jaci said

"I feel bad for him" I replied

"So do I. He seems really nice." Jaci sighed

Looking back at the hallway, I wonder where my brother went.
