Book I, Chapter 16

Daniel was about to say something else to lie his way out. But, he couldn’t. ‘ Oh yeah! She was living with me and I liked her ‘ . Daniel says to Issac. Which made Daniel himself confused. He didn’t know why he said that. Carla was shocked too. ‘ What?! But, I thought you liked me! You asked me out that other time and I rejected you! ‘ Carla shouted to them outloud. Her true color shows. ‘ I didn’t think you had a girlfriend. I didn’t know she was living with you ‘. Carla says to Daniel.

She was looking straight at him. She was hoping that he might still like her still. But, there wasn’t any hope. Issac turned to Carla. He didn’t know about this. And then she says that there was a notification from their boss' phone. They got the video to show proof of that day when Daniel did ask her out. He watches the video. Carla starts to frown. Issac was shocked but frowned too. Daniel kept a straight face. He wonders what’s going on.

His boss saw the video. There was proof of what happened on that day. The day where Daniel was accused of sexually harassing Carla. But, it was someone else who did. That’s why there was an investigation at his workplace at O’Reilly Auto Parts in El Cerrito, California. He took a deep breath. And he showed it to Daniel. He watched it from his phone. Carlan and Issac were curious. They didn’t say a word. They just watch the video of how it unfolds that day.

Videos from two weeks ago

There in the video it shows Daniel, Carla and another coworker that time. An innocent girl came to work. ‘ Daniel! ‘ The innocent girl called out to him. She was running towards him. She gave him a hug. He hugged her back. As for Carla, she was leaning on the table of work in front of the store. She was with her friends. One man and one woman.

‘ Excuse me Carla, Do you have a boyfriend ? ‘ The innocent girl asked her. She looked at her deeply. She could tell that Carla was going to lie to her. She just smiles oblivious to it. ‘ Yes I do have a boyfriend ‘ . Carla says to the innocent girl as she rolls her eyes at her. The girl took notice of it. But, she didn’t do anything about it. ‘ See Daniel? Carla has a boyfriend ‘ . The innocent girl says to him. She saw Daniel stay quiet for a moment. ‘ I see it makes sense you have a boyfriend ‘ . Daniel says to her as his tone of voice was laced with sadness.

Work was always the same. The innocent girl wasn’t stupid. But, she could see the blonde hair girl getting annoyed at seeing him with another girl. It pisses her off. After work though, the innocent girl went back to work. When it was 9:15pm. There were more to the video itself.

‘ Is that true Carla that you have a boyfriend? ‘ Daniel said to her as she approached her. He gently grabbed her hand gently. He rubs her hand trying to calm her down. It was his way to charm her. ‘ Sadly no I don’t have a boyfriend. But it seems that girls like you. So, I'll just say that. I’m sorry for lying ‘ . The blonde hair girl spoke to him. She starts to frown.

‘ I can’t date you Daniel sorry. You already have someone else in your life ‘ . The blonde hair girl rejected him. Her hands were on his chest. They gaze at each other. Her actions are different from her words. They were about to do something that they shouldn’t be doing. They came closer to each other face to face. It was as if they were about to kiss. Until his phone starts to ring. He took notice of it. The blonde-haired girl saw it too. She purses her lips in a thin line. And she walked away from the store.

The next day was the same thing. The girl with black hair and brown eyes shows up with Daniel in his truck. It shows that he went to work with her. He greeted her. And she gave him a good luck kiss as a charm. So, he could have a good day. And it did. When he came to work on time, Carla was there to greet him among other people at work. This was when they had to be investigated. Where everyone was being questioned.

This is when everyone says things about others. And then it shows Daniel saying something about another worker. Carla did the same thing. And this was when they fired their friend Church Wilson. Church was their guy friend at work. The black hair and brown eyes appear in the workplace. She hugged him. She was cheering him up. Because; of something happened.

It was so gloomy at the workplace. The black hair and brown eyes had an extra boba drink. ‘ Hi Carla, do you like boba? ‘ The black hair and brown eyes spoke. She saw how the blonde-haired girl was annoyed at the way she spoke. The blonde hair rolled her eyes again. But, as to be polite. ‘ No I don’t like boba ‘ . Carla spoke to the black hair and brown eyes.

The girl didn’t say anything. ‘ Uhmm.. did you roll your eyes at me Carla? ‘ The girl says to her. She wasn’t going to shy away. It seems like she has a problem with her. She raises her head up to face her. She didn’t look at her phone. ‘ No I didn’t. You’re just stupid and imagine things ‘ . Carla says to the black hair and brown eyes. The innocent girl looked down. She didn’t say anything else.

The black hair and brown eyes stayed quiet. She doesn’t know what to do. She doesn’t know why a blonde hair girl says that to her. She was just being nice to her. She just wants to get to know all the workers that work at O’Reilly Auto Parts at Moeser Shopping Center in El Cerrito, California. She looked straight at the blonde hair girl. ‘ Uhm..okay that’s nice to know you think I’m stupid. Is that how you talk to a customer like that? ‘ The black hair girl whispered. The blonde hair girl looked up. She was about to say something. But, she couldn’t.

‘ Daniel, you’re here. What time is your lunch break? Are you hungry? ‘ The black hair girl spoke as if she knew it was him. She turned to face him. And ignore the blonde hair girl. She was excited to see him. She could see the blonde hair girl giving her a dirty look. ‘ My lunch break could be three o’clock in the afternoon or maybe four o’clock in the afternoon ‘. Daniel says to the black hair and brown eyes girl as he was staring at his friend. Since, he knew that she was always there for him. So, it was his turn to make her happy. Just like how his friend made him happy.

Daniel liked how the black hair girl always made him happy. And the fact that she didn’t force him to do things he didn’t like. And that she was willing to try new things with him. He could feel that his friend is trying her best to understand him. And he could feel his heart beating fast when it came to his female friend with black hair and brown eyes.

He grabbed the hand of his friend. And he held her hand in a special way. He wanted to make her feel special to him. He regrets hurting her in the past. He regret ghosting her when he was freaking out. He could have communicated with her more. He tries not to think about it much. Because; he could feel her emotions. And she could feel his emotions too. He doesn’t want to see his female friend with black hair and brown eyes to be in pain.

Daniel heard that his only female friend doesn’t like him anymore. And when he heard it he started to frown. He shouldn’t be sad about it. He always told her he wanted to find someone else. And that he wants to date someone else. He also heard her love confession towards him. Many times he could see how much she really loved him. She would show it through action genuinely. And it made him happy. The smallest gesture made his heart race for her. He doesn’t know what to do with this feeling.

He felt a connection with his female friend. The girl who visited him at work when she had time. It made him happy. And he likes seeing her happy. And he liked how excited she was to see him. He didn’t want her to lose interest in him. He knew a lot of things about her. And she slowly hears things about him.
