A cold silence spread across the mountains.
Even the falling snow seemed to stop in midair.
Elian looked at Arkon.
"The Author?"
Arkon's usually calm face had turned pale.
"I prayed that name would never be spoken again."
He stared toward the eastern horizon, where the third Memory Crystal was fading.
"The Silence steals memories."
"The Author changes them."
Elian frowned.

Arkon answered quietly.
