The silver key pulsed with a gentle light in my palm.
Everyone in the temple stared at it.
No one spoke.
Elder Rowan finally broke the silence.
"For centuries, wolves searched for the Key of the Moon Prison."
His voice was filled with awe.
"And the temple entrusted it to you."
I closed my fingers around it.
"It wasn't given to me."
I looked toward the place where I had last seen my mother.
"It was given to all of us."
Kael smiled quietly.
"Still thinking of everyone else."
I looked at him.
"My mother sacrificed everything to protect me."
Then I glanced at Draven.
"And both of you have nearly died doing the same."
I shook my head.
"No more."
The two Alphas exchanged a look.
Neither argued.
But neither looked convinced.
