“No.”
Kael’s voice cracked through the room instantly.
Sharp.
Furious.
Disbelieving.
Mira flinched slightly beneath the force of his dominance.
But Kael barely noticed.
His eyes remained locked on her with something close to panic burning beneath the surface.
“That’s not possible.”
Mira swallowed carefully.
“The records are ancient, but they’re clear.”
“I don’t care what some dead scholars wrote.”
The rage in Kael’s voice shook the room.
Because this wasn’t anger anymore.
This was fear clawing through an Alpha already watching his mate drift beyond his control.
I sat frozen on the edge of the bed while cold numbness spread slowly through my chest.
