Chapter 7

"CAN you leave us alone for a while... miss?" the new girl, who just arrived, ordered haughtily. Kira quickly pulled away from Raven and nodded in agreement. Even if the woman would not ask about it, she would willingly leave the office without hesitation. She really felt ashamed of what the woman had witnessed. She wanted the ground to devour her at this instance to somehow escape from the shame she is feeling. The woman only looked at her meaningfully and then she walked away from them. She now turned to Raven, who was staring intently at her. She suddenly felt uncomfortable about the way he looked at her right now. It seemed like from the way his blue eyes were staring, he could see through her soul. She shook her head and turned away. She needs to leave as soon as possible if she didn't want to add to the shame she had caused. "Raven... let's talk." Kira heard the woman speak to her boss. She decided to leave the soonest. She will just forget what happened inside. She will forget the temptation that she engaged in. Maybe tomorrow she's fired because of what she did. Why did she even give herself up so quickly on that guy, even more so he’s her boss! Gosh. What am I going to do? She quickly walked towards the door, but she stop midway when someone held her hand. That familiar electric shock flowed again within her veins with their hands in contact. She turned around to see him because of that. He was looking intently at her but she couldn't read his eyes. "Raven..." the woman called again. Her gaze flew in the distance, where Raven's female visitor was. She had this piercing look upon her so she looked away. She turned her gaze at Raven’s hand on her arm. Suddenly, she remembered why she needs to leave in his office. She tried to grab her hands away from him but he held it tightly. She decided to look back at him. "S-Sir... I'm leaving," she said with a stutter while still trying to get his grip on his arm. He just stared at her in silence instead. But she was shocked at what happened next. With his hand on her arm, he suddenly pulled her closer to him and embraced her immediately. She heard the woman squeaking behind Raven in protest. But Kira didn't seem to hear it as her face sunk into Raven's wide chest. She tried to push him away, but he didn’t let her. Se tried again but she failed. She sighed deeply and closed her eyes. This must be wrong but…why does she feel that she's in the right place now? "Everything will be alright..." he said meaningfully to her. Her forehead creased because of that. What does he mean? "RAVEN!" the woman shouted which echoed the room. She went back to reality because of that. It was Kira who broke away from Raven's embrace. Their eyes met again but she quickly avoided it. She bites her lip, what is she doing? “S-Sir, I need to leave,” “THAT’S RIGHT, LEAVE!" the raging response of the woman who is now on Raven's side. Once again, Kira felt ashamed and embarrassed in front of her. "Yana, stop this now," Raven said with authority to the woman – named Yana. "No! This girl must know where she stands! She is a mortal!" she added furiously. Kira was even more reluctant. She couldn't understand the last sentence that she said, but she felt that it was somehow offensive. She felt Raven's grip tighten slightly on her arm. She tried to loosen his grip but she failed again. How could she leave if he will not let go of her hand? "Be careful of your words, Yana," Raven warned Yana. "She is your future queen," he added using a language that she could not understand. Her gaze rose slightly. Kira first noticed Yana's expression – she was exasperated. She looked up at her, her eyebrows were rasing and she was very angry; she lowered her head again. "I don’t believe you." She heard her replied. "Well then, believe me now." after hearing that it was Raven himself who pulled her out - out of his office. She almost did a half-run just to catch up with the man. Yana was left alone in the office. When they got to the front of the public elevator, he looked at her while still holding her arm. "Sir ..." she tried to catch his attention when she noticed that he just stood there and he was staring – staring at her? She tried to get his grip on her arm again, finally, he released her. But she could see that her arm was swollen, she winced because of pain. She’s not shocked to see that anymore. Her skin is so sensitive at anything, maybe that’s why she was prohibited by her parents doing some extreme things when I was younger. "Mierda!" she heard Raven whispered. He lifted her swollen arm. "We need to treat this. f**k. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to hurt you," he apologized. Kira was just staring at Raven. He held her swollen arm again slightly blowing it as if it were a wound trying to relieve the pain. She was perplexed by the way he’s acting right now. He was concerned all of a sudden. But why? She was just an employee in the company while he’s the owner! What happened between them that night was only a one-night-stand and that should be it! No more, no further scandals. A one night stand is a one night stand! She knows the rule of a one-night-stand! But why is he showing a motive towards her? After blowing her arm, he took her other hand, loosening his grip on the swollen one gradually. Her eyes widened as she wrapped their hands together. Once again, he felt the electricity flowing on her system. She tried to break from it, yet again, she failed. She pulled her into his personal elevator. And when they entered inside, he immediately presses the number 1 button. She wondered while looking at him. "Sir .. Where are we going?" she asked nervously. He didn't answer her, he just stares at his reflection on the elevator wall. She noticed that he was angry as evident in his reflection, their gaze met each other and she lowered her head. She looked up as she heard the familiar sound of the elevator. They immediately left as soon as it opened. But Kira slouched back from her position in no time. Why didn't she think of it right away? All of the people they meet along the way immediately stop as they saw them together. They were eyeing them together, but they were more focused on her. “Why are they together?” “Where are they going?” "Gosh? Are they dating?" Those are some of the things that Kira heard. They turned into a hallway, and there she found the reason why he had dragged her down the first floor. They're going to the company's clinic. "Sir Raven, I think I can handle myself, I will—“ "No! We're going together," He said firmly. Kira didn’t have a choice but let Raven take her to the clinic. When they arrived there, they saw a woman wearing a lab coat, with a stethoscope attached to her shoulder. She had a fair complexion. She also wears eyeglasses and she has a beautiful face. Her eyebrows raised upon seeing the two. It’s Kira’s first time to visit the clinic. She is not aware that they have a company clinic, she only learned about it just now. "Vina ... can you treat this?" Raven asked the woman in the lab coat. The woman looked up at him and followed the gaze where Raven now held her swollen hand. "What happened here?" Vina asked Kira. Kira's gaze reached Raven, who was still holding her hand. "I must have applied too much pressure while holding her hand…" Raven replied as if confessing his sins. She just stared at the man, who was now watching her getting her arms treated. She didn't realize that she was already sitting on a bed as the doctor put an unknown ointment on her swollen arm. "I'll take care of it, Raven, I believe Yana has visited you," cracked the doctor in silence. Kira noticed that they are looking at each other as if having a mutual understanding, then Raven nodded. She turned her attention to Dr. Vina who is now treating her arm. "I'll be back,” she heard him said. Kira raises her gape. She gulped when Raven's gaze met hers. Why would he go back for her? "Uhm... Don’t bother Sir Raven—“ She didn't finish her sentence when he suddenly approached her and kissed her on the cheek. That was just a peck. She was caught off-guard and she stared at him in awe. He stood up and smiled at her, then turned his back and walked out of the clinic. She simply followed it with a glance as her chest fluttered. Her heartbeat was racing. Why did he kiss her? Is he interested in her? She heard the doctor’s soft laughter. She observed her while she’s returning the ointment that she used earlier in the cabinet. She glanced at her arm that was swollen, it is still slightly sore. Again she looked at the doctor who was arranging her things, she stood up from the bed with the intention to say goodbye. She faced her and cleared her throat. "I think I’m gonna go—“ “Didn’t you hear what Raven said?” she interrupted her. "A-Ahh… I still have work to do," She reasoned out. "You can't go back to work, your arm needs to heal. Besides, your boss says you need to stay here until your okay, listen to him. He will go crazy if he found out that you already left." She didn't quite hear the last sentence she said, she would like to ask her about it but she chose to stay silent. “I think I’ll go doc, it seems like Raven is not coming back here. I’m not that important—“ She didn’t let her finished her sentence. She approached her all of a sudden and moved closer to her placing her hands on both her shoulders. "Just stay here. Sit there in the bed and wait for Raven to come back. I'm the one who will be punished if you will leave without notice." she said as she laid her back on the bed. "If you want, you can sleep, take a break or whatever; just don’t leave, wait until he comes back." She continued. After that, she bade her good-bye as she entered a door with a 'don't disturb' sign on it. She stared at the door trying to figure out why her boss didn't want her to leave the clinic. What else does his boss need from her? He’s talking to that woman right now… She didn't finish her thought; she felt her chest tighten for no reason. She obeyed the doctor’s orders. She lies down on the bed until she feels sleepy.     "WHO THE HELL is she, Raven, answer me well," Yana burst at him as he entered the office. He did not respond to her instead he went straight to his chair and immediately sat down. "Raven! Answer me!" He closed his eyes ardently as Yana’s angry voice reverberated throughout his office. He looked at her harshly. “Don’t you understand Yana? That woman is your future queen,” He said it firmly. Yana’ eyes widened, unable to believe what she was hearing. But for a moment her eyebrows met again. "It can't be! She’s not the type of girl that’s suited for you! Maybe she’s an impostor—“ "And who do you think Ithe right girl for me? You?" Raven said angrily. He stood up all of a sudden and hit the table hard, causing Yana to panic. "You know how many centuries I've been waiting for her to be born again. You do know the whole story Yana." He blurted out. "H-how sure are you..." she asked in a low voice. "Of course, just what the prophecy said," he answered plainly and went back to sitting. Suddenly his head ached for some unknown reason. He massaged his forehead as he closed his eyes. "You mean.. the mark.." "Yes, she bears the mark that resembles mine. It illuminated after we mate. Is this reason enough for you Yana? Because to be honest, my head is aching right now," Yana was left speechless after hearing everything. Again he leaned over in his chair and closed his eyes. Kira's face crosses his mind. It was as if he felt a sense of relief right away. Speaking of, is she okay right now? He didn’t mean to hurt her at all; he was carried away by his emotions causing him to tighten his grip. And that's one of his problems before; he always loses his control when he is in rage. Now that she found her, he promised not to lose her again. Yes, he had waited for hundreds of years. But now, not seeing her for two days is long enough for him. He couldn't focus properly on what he was doing in the past few days because he is searching for her. Now that he knew that they were working in the same place all along, he wouldn’t let her out of his sight especially because he is closer to the deadline. He took a deep breath. If he would only think of himself, he would not want to involve Kira into this mess, but he really needs her. Besides, he's been waiting for hundreds of years - waiting for her to come back and fulfill her promise. He hopes that it is long enough for her to finally come back, to him.   She belongs to me anyway. "Do you have plans to tell the Elite?" asked Yana to break the silence. Raven was caught off-guard at what she said. He sat properly and looked at Yana with her hands crossed at her chest. She rests on a sofa and she was looking at him intently. "Why? Is it really necessary?" She did not answer. That's better than her arguing about it.  But he stopped when he suddenly felt a strong sense of aura in the surroundings. He looked up at Yana’s direction, and he couldn't miss the devious smile forming on her lips. Raven secretly cursed. "You called them," He said angrily. He clenched his fist while looking at Yana grimly. "Well, they need to know…" she said in a mellow voice. He ignored her. He stood up and in a blink of an eye, he’s holding Yana by the neck now. He is furious. He didn't like what she did. It was the last thing on his list – the Elite finding out that he located her. Because he knew in the beginning what would happen, they would not hold back until the prophecy has been fulfilled. They will try to rush things instead of taking it slowly. He needs to spend more time with her. He needs to explain everything to her. He didn't want her to be overwhelmed as the truth start to unravel. "How many times have I told you not to interfere with my decisions, Yana. You always disobey me." She struggled to get free from his grip. She tried to scratch his arms several times but he didn't let go. She coughed as she was almost out of breath. When he felt that she was on the brink of death, he released her immediately. She was catching her breath. Her shoulders were rising up and down several times as she clutched her chest. She gave him a death glare. "You know what I can do Yana. That's not all you can get when you do things I don't really like." After Raven said that, he heard footsteps approaching his office. He returned to his seat. Why not wait for his unexpected guests to come in? He noticed that Yana was already standing and was supporting herself on the sofa as she stood. Her hands were still on her chest. She is still glaring at him grimly. He ignored her and focused his gaze on the opening of his office door. The members of the Elite came in one by one, Raven stood up as they enter. "What brings you here?" he immediately asked them as all of them entered his office. "Who did this to you Ms. Caster?" asked by an old vampire worriedly. He stood next to Yana. He examined her neck full of scratches caused by Raven's hand. He felt the sharp stares that Yana had thrown at him. He ignored it again. But the office started to buzz when someone started asking questions. "I repeat, what do you need and why are you here?” "Is it really true that you have found your mate?" "Yes, Ms. Caster told us that she is here." "Can we see her now?" "Is she really your mate?" "When will you perform the prophecy?" Those are the questions he heard from the people in front of him. They were all around him asking for an answer. He closed his eyes ardently as he gently massaged his temple. There you go. "QUIET!" he suddenly cried out to silence everyone. He opened his eyes and stared at all of them badly. He sat down on a lonely sofa near him. He took a deep breath before speaking. "That's right. She's here," he said while reassuring Yana that was now avoiding his gaze. Raven turned his attention to the Elites. “I saw here a few days ago—“ "But why didn’t you tell us?!" said the oldest member of the Elite angrily. "Because you always didn’t let me finish what I was about to say,” He immediately responded. The man didn’t speak again. "I tried to find her several times but you always disturbed me slowing my search. Why didn't I tell you? Why should I? I know that once you all know, you were going to control my every move. You’ll oppose everything I want. "But that is what it should be—“ "And you have to obey it the right way," He blurted out. He looked at everyone inside the room one by one. "But the final full moon is approaching. What are you going to do?" Gustavo asked him. Raven looked at him sharply and smirked. "I know what you mean Gustavo. I don't care what is going to happen. For now, let me take first the step—“ Raven wasn’t able to finish his sentence when someone knocked at the door repeatedly. They all looked at each other. The intruder continued knocking with alarm. He raised his eyebrows as he recognized the voice of the intruder. Vina. Let her in. He commanded the guards outside using telepathy. Some seemed surprised at his order. Whenever there is a meeting between the Elite, no one is allowed to interfere whomever or whatever it is. And now, it looks like he did something he shouldn't do. The door flung open and Vina entered the room while gasping for air. "Raven!" she said while gasping. It looks like she noticed the presence of the Elite members inside the room causing her to stay immobile for a while. "Why Vina, what happens?" She was now back to her senses as she looked directly at Raven. But the fear is still evident in her voice. “Something's happening to the queen,” she said in a language they all knew. He heard the groaning of his comrades inside but he ignored it. He immediately followed the exit and went to the elevator, Vina followed him quickly. Others plan to follow the two of them. But before they could get in, he quickly hit the elevator button. Raven almost dragged the time as they went down the clinic.  He was in a hurry to see Kira. He could just have used the emergency stairs. But f**k, what if someone is using it too? "What happened to her?" he asked Vina. He couldn't help but feel nervous. Instead of responding to him, she just stood there silently while hugging herself. Raven held a deep breath; she knew what was happening to her. She just entered a room full of vampires. "Vina," He uttered to get her attention. She now looks okay. “Tell me what happened to her,” he asked again. "She's—“ Vina didn’t finish her sentence when they all heard the familiar sound of the elevator. They are now on the 1st floor. When it opened, Raven came out first. He was on her way to the clinic when his eyes met a familiar figure. She stands in the middle of the firm's lobby. She is looking upwards where an elegant chandelier hangs. They seemed to catch her attention. She turned her gaze to where they were. Kira's strange aura unfolded in his eyes. "Just a few seconds ago when the Elites came in, she suddenly trembled. Then she just got up and went outside. I tried to stop her and asked her to return to the clinic but.. she didn’t listen, she just stays there.” Vina explained to him. "Rafael," Raven seemed stunned by what he heard. Did she call me Rafael? Kira walked closer to him, but her gaze stopped. Raven quickly realized that the Elite members were here. "Gustavo," Kira smiled at the person behind Raven. He closed his eyes as he started to realize something. He knows what is happening to her. "I just want to tell you something,” She announced. She caught everyone attention upon saying those words including the employees and staffs of the company. Many witnessed the incident, but Raven didn't mind them, he was focused on her right now. “I'll be back before the last full moon,” After saying that, she turned her gaze Raven; they were both looking at each other. He caught her smiling as she came up to him. When she was only a few centimeters away from him, he examined her closely. He first noticed that the color of her eyes has changed. Her eyes were longing for him. I knew it! "Rafael Venturie," she was smiling as she called his name. She came closer to him and then caressed his cheek using her swollen hand. Raven gasped as she felt her familiar touch. Finally. “Wait for me, love,” she whispered. He opened his eyes and Kira's smiling face met his. But it only lasted for a few seconds when she suddenly fell unconscious on the floor. But before she fell on the ground, he caught her just in time. Raven closed his eyes. She embraced Kira tightly. “Finally, the queen has awakened,”
