I couldn’t believe Ash had actually suggested that I finally come and sleep in his room. Weeks of effort were finally paying off, and now we were both preparing for bed. We didn’t exchange many words. It felt like we were starting over in some way, trying again, and it was new for both of us.
For me, it was entirely new. Unfortunately, my distraction was short-lived, and soon I began to dwell on everything that had happened today. Yet after dressing for bed and slipping beneath the covers, Ash moved around the room in only his dark underwear, switching off the lights and offering a new thing to focus on.
When he approached, however, he paused, as if he hadn’t realized I was in his bed again. I wondered if he was having second thoughts about this.
