The voice of the broken

562 Words
“Tricia…? Tricia…?” A voice shrouded into the silence that filled my head.  I opened my eyes and I was already in my room. Kyle was there holding a glass of water as he called upon me. “Can you sit down…? You need to drink some water.” He then placed his glass of water to the desk beside my bed and placed his hand at my back to help me stand. I feel so weak… I tried to sit down but my head spins so bad that everything gets blurry whenever I tried to take a closer look at everything. Why is your body so intolerable with sickness? I sat down with Kyle’s help and tried breathing every bit of air on my lungs just to control my body. “Where’s Ms. Mary?” I managed to croak out as I open my eyes a little bit to look at Kyle. He doesn’t have any glasses on… His eye color was a little darker due to the dim light in my room but he looked good, better even without his glasses. His eyes aren’t that big, it was sleek and kind of enthralling… His lips were opened, he was saying something and I realized that I spaced out again, but this time, I felt--- captivated. “Hey…” he whispered and he tucked my hair behind my ear as he looked at me genuinely… My heart skipped a beat as he did. He seemed different today… “Drink this water and this medicine. Ms. Mary will be back in a minute. She’s just cooking a porridge downstairs. She asked for your dad’s permission to move the utensils.” How did she have his phone number…? I nodded and took the pill from his hand and drank it. Thank goodness, this body ain’t feeling too paralyzed anymore. He took the glass from me after and placed his palm on my forehead, checking my temperature. His lips curled up into a little smile when he noticed that I was staring at him and he just patted my head, making me blink several times. I think the staring is awfully enough, Tricia. Kids. I huffed at myself, kind of embarrassed on how I feel, realizing that maybe, I have been feeling what Tricia was also feeling at the same time. “You still have fever… But you need to sit down before you eat or else the dizziness won’t go away,” he said before grabbing a pillow and laying it on my headboard. He was so close to me and I just—I felt like I wanted to lay my head on tummy for a while as he fixes the pillows and so I did. He was so warm… My cheeks are turning weirdly hot too… As soon as I did, I felt Kyle tensed but I didn’t mind so he would just fix the pillows and me. He was just so warm that I cannot move my head nor do I wanted to move away. It's so soothing to feel the warmth and care of someone you adored for years… I smiled when I felt his hand caress my head a bit and suddenly became surprised when I realized that the thoughts in my mind was spoken in a voice which I never own--- Tricia just spoke to me…
