THE DINNER

225 Words
"Sorry I'm late," Jack said, leaning in to kiss Emily on the cheek. "Traffic was a nightmare." Emily smiled and waved it off, feeling a sense of relief wash over her. As they ordered their drinks and sat down at a small table by the window, Emily couldn't help but notice how easy it was to talk to Jack. They laughed and joked, sharing stories and getting to know each other. As the night wore on, Emily found herself feeling more and more at ease. She couldn't believe how much she was enjoying herself, and how much she was starting to connect with Jack. As they walked out of the café, Jack turned to Emily and smiled. "I had an amazing time tonight," he said, his eyes locking onto hers. "Would you like to do it again sometime soon?" Emily's heart skipped a beat as she smiled and nodded, feeling a sense of excitement and hope that she hadn't felt in a long time. As they stood there, wrapped in the warm glow of the café's outdoor lights, Emily knew that this was it. This was the start of something special, something real. And as she walked home, her heart full of hope and her mind racing with possibilities, Emily knew that she would never have to go on another first date again. The End.
