"Why did you bring me hear?" she asked.
"Is Noel your boyfriend?" he replied her question with a question.
Wait— what?! She didn't follow. Why would he think so? Is it because they had sat together?— Why did he care anyway?
"Answer me Yve." He pleaded and commanded at the same time. Coming more close to her.
Oh my God! How was she supposed to think when he was crowding her. They had never been that close. She could smell his enticing scent. A mix of cologne and male. His eyes were on hers. Holding her like a spell. She couldn't break free from them.
"No." she finally voiced out.
He smirked. "What are you doing to me Yve?" There was a hairbreadth space between them.
His the one who was doing stuff to her. Not the other way around. "I don't know." She looked down. Wondering what was going on right then. He held her chin up with his index finger. Making her look at him. He crooked his neck slightly. The smirk still on. She must have missed a second because by the time she put things together, his lips were on hers. She gasped.
Was he— kissing her? Seriously!
"Let me in Yve." he commanded and she obliged. Giving him access to her mouth. Her eyes shut as she felt his tongue run on hers. His lips were soft and smooth. The inside of his mouth had an unfamiliar yet sweet taste that made her crave for more. More of him, his touch and deeper kisses. His hand moved to her waist and pulled her closer.
Yes, that's what she wanted, to be closer to him, to feel his body on hers. The other cupped her cheek. Her entire body was ignited. Her bones melted with every lick and swipe causing her to groan. He gripped her tighter, pulling her more close than she had been. His thumb brushed against her throat and she moaned in response, delving in deeper. Their teeth made a slight clutter as they kissed. Gideon slowed down suddenly. Slowly, the kiss became more slow and shallow until he pulled away causing a frown on her face. But reality soothed it. His eyes were wild when she looked at him.
Oh! God! Did... they... just... Her mind was foged. She needed to think. But he was making it hard. Whatever had just happened needed to be processed. And his menacing smile made her tremble. "I have to go." She reached for the door before he could say a word.
The good thing Wamono was already in the parking lot when she got there. "Good afternoon Yve." Wamono greeted as she clambered into the car.
"Good afternoon." A smile shone on her face. Not wanting to be rude to someone who didn't deserve it.
The engine made a sound as it dropped into the gears. As he pressed on the gas. Through the windows of the car came a beautiful panorama of the city to expand her heart and soul. Fresh air flowed into the car bringing it's freshness to her senses. But the memories of her encounter with Gideon still flourished. The way he was pleading for her to tell him her relationship with Noel. The question he had asked her: What are you doing to me Yve? If she had heard well, that was it.
A million long thoughts had condensed into a moment when he kissed her. In the emotion of the kiss a volume of passion was spoken that transcended the works of the great poets combined. She was her pure and vulnerable self in that moment. Their chemistry had become an ever-bright flame. Their kiss wasn't all the same as those movie stars, but one steeped in a passion that ignited. It was the promise of realness of the primal desire that lived in awake, connected within, that they embraced themselves rather than hide as a copy of those romantic idols. They had been in each other's protective cocoon.
Yve relaxed alittle as they pulled into the imprinted concrete of the driveway, a shade of grey with a hint of blue. As such it was ever perfect, ever neat. She got out of the car and thanked Wamono before going to the doorstep.
Entering the house had the same feeling as the calling of a loving mother, as if those rocks could hug in true softness. Her parents had told her they wouldn't be home until late that night. She had returned to her cacoon for the last hours of the day. Her heart was singing all the clearer by daylight. She made her way up the stairs and into her room. She experienced the feeling of euphoria when she fell on her bed. She relaxed alittle and enjoy her lovely bedroom.
So, what now?
She remembered all the revising she had to do. Exams were due next week. She decided to take a bath and do some revision after. There was nothing a long warm bubble bath couldn't solve. She would feel knew after taking one.
"So, how are your mother and uncle." the coach asked Gideon as they walked in the hallway.
Didn't he know? Gideon looked at him with creased brows but then loosen up. The news must've not reached him. After all she was only buried by close friends and family. Just like she had requested in her will. "Mom died."
"Oh Gideon! Am sorry."
"It's been a year now."
" May l ask what happened?"
"It was leukemia." By the time they found out her condition, it was already late. She had no chance of surviving. Even though the doctor had told them that, he had hoped she would get well. But she was getting worse every day. Even with being in the hospital. He couldn't believe it when they pronounced her dead. It only occured to him on her burial. When she was being laid to rest. That she was gone forever. He wouldn't be able to hey her constant nudging. To hear her laugh. To hear her scold him for no main reason.
Call him a mom's boy but he loved his mother so much. He missed her every day. He would do anything just to see her again. To hug her. To feel her motherly love. That's why he took her usual ring with him every where. He felt more safe with it. She was with him. But what had happened had happened. He had to accept it and he did. He didn't think he would get through but some how, he managed. He hated being among many people ever since she died. He had even stopped going to school and opted for online classes. But then now, he had found himself enrolling again. He didn't feel like going back to his old school so he searched for other schools that weren't too far from his home and he landed on this one. Looking at it's pictures and description on his laptop, he was intrigued.
"My condolences Gideon." Coach CJ patted his back. "What about your uncle?" Couch CJ had met Gideon's uncle at some match they had had. He had only attended because Gideon's mother pushed him to. "Am going to be really busy you know." his uncle had said. "If that's it, am shutting down the company until Gideon's match ends. "And just like that, he attended. Gideon's mother always managed to get things her way. She was persistent.
"His fine."
"That's great to hear." after a moment "You wanna come by my place for dinner or something."
"Sure." Gideon had been living alone since his mother died. His uncle had always been a workaholic even when she was around. That must've been the reason as to why he failed to get relationship standing for more than three months. He would only come by twice a month. He had bought himself a condo right next to the company.
His mother and uncle had built One Point Cars from scratch. Maybe that's the reason as to why he spent most of his time in it. It was his very own baby. Nursing it was his duty.
"Do you like Chinese?" the coach asked as he drove.
"Yah, sure."
Practice had gone well. Surprisingly him and Noel didn't tear each other. He saw it clearly in Noel's eyes. He didn't like him. But the reverse was true. Neither did he. Noel was nolonger of use since Yve told him they weren't in a relationship.
CJ lived in a three room apartment. On an old apartment building. The living room had two coaches facing each other and a telly. CJ called up a restaurant and told them to deliver their food for them. "How are the other guys who were on the team?" The couch asked on hanging up. He witched on the telly.
"Well, as you can see. We are all in different schools now. But am still in touch with Okello and his good."
"Oh that's great."
There was silence for a couple of minutes as they watched a movie. A knock on the door told them that there food had arrived. CJ paid the deliveryman and carried the food to the living room.
"Do you live alone?" Gideon asked as they dug in the noddles and dumplings with chopsticks.
"Yah, why do you ask."
"No reason." he looked around. "Just feels like there's a girl living here too."
CJ let out a chuckle.
Gideon spent nearly three hours at the couch's place. They ended up watching a football match. Cheering when their favorite team scored. But now he was back to his home. Lonely and quiet. But that's where he wanted to live. His uncle had asked him to stay with him at his condo. But he refused. He didn't want to depart from this place. There were so many memories. Especially the one of his mother. She had gone to soon.
The house keeper had left him food in the microwave but he nolonger hungry. He went to his room. Removing his shirt and tossing it on the ground. The bedroom was dull. Most of it grey and the dull shades of white. Just like how he liked it. He ran a hot shower. One that rubbed his exhaustion to nothing. And just then, the brown eyed girl with tight curls crept her way back in his mind and he smacked. But he wasn't the only one intrigued by her. Someone down there found his reason to breath and was standing firm. The peak of him visible on the surface. He hated the s**t of m**********n. But he found it hard to ignore this erection.
Oh f**k! If only she knew what she was doing to him. He grabbed it steadily and pumped himself. Imagining her, giving herself to him. Moaning his name. Telling him he was the only one. The only one who could make her come. The only one she loved. No one else. Absolutely nobody in the goddamn world. His hands on her hips stopping her from moving as he takes her to c****x. His eyes on her, absorbing all her reactions.
Holy s**t! He leaned on the wall of the bathtub after his release, heaving. I have to see her tomorrow. I have to see her tomorrow. He repeated that in his brain. Even though they didn't have history the next day. He was going to make it a point to find her. He washed his hand that was filled with c*m in the water.
After her two first lessons, Yve spent recess in the library. Revising for the exams. Divinity would be the first so she opted to revise it then. She was sitting behind the bookshelves. She called it the place "Preparation Zone." Since ordinary level, she would sit there every time they had exams or tests. There was no place as quiet and abandoned as it. No one would disturb her as she read.
"Hi." she heard a familiar voice and immediately knew who. Oh no! She became tensed up and didn't reply. He had come with a chair and placed it in front of the table. Her insides cringed. He caught her book and removed it from her face. "Hey!" she shouted. "Am still reading that."
"Hi Yve." He flashed his slicing smile. She crossed her arms on her chest and pouted before saying hi to him after a moment. "Can l have my book back?" she asked and he placed it on the table. When she tried to retrieve it, he placed his hand on it forbidding her access. "Some of us have to revise for the exams you know." she said. He removed his hand as he shook his head and she took it. Her eyes were glued to it again. Though she wasn't understanding anything. How could she with this creature sitting in front of her.
